We stayed in the villa, which has a living room and bathroom on the ground floor and a bedroom on the first floor. The accommodation had everything one could need – we even found coffee and some spices, which was a lovely touch. Thank you for that! Cleanliness was also perfect. The owners offer breakfast for an additional fee. One thing to note: the dining table is Japanese-style, so you sit on the floor rather than on chairs. The beach is just a one-minute walk away, and you can enjoy long walks along the promenade or simply relax with the sea view.

古民家宿Tabi湊 is a recently renovated guest house in Hitachinaka, where guests can make the most of its garden and shared lounge. Completely in love with this place, sadly it was just an overnight stop for me. It is exactly what it looks like from the photos: a traditional Japanese house, freshly refurbished, with I believe 3 rooms (might be 4). The self check-in at the door might look intimidating but it's fast and well explained, just make sure you have internet and follow the instructions (you'll get the link in your messages before you arrive anyway). The area is lovely, you have combini, a cute cafè, restaurants and the station is less than 5 minutes away. You can also walk to the fish market in about 15mins and have a fantastic meal. My room felt really cozy and I was so sad to leave. Also, I've read some comments saying it's hard to find (it is indeed behind another set of houses so you need to walk around them) but in my case if you put the exact address on Google Maps the pin matched the house perfectly.
