When we booked this stay, we didn't realize that it was more like an air-bnb. The home is shared with Kio and her mom, but we had our HUGE private living quarters and bathroom all to ourselves. We had complete privacy unless they were serving food or we had questions. We were so well taken care of that it was the most personable experience we had while traveling around Japan. We really felt at home. The personal touches and amenities were the best as well as the treats and tea upon arrival. Don't hesitate to book a breakfast in the morning... so delicious! Plus, the town is so sleepy that there was nothing to eat in walking distance. The wood fireplace was my favorite detail and being just steps from the beach was such a treat. Make sure to explore Omoricho during your stay here and stay for at least 2 nights!! Thank you so much for this wonderful experience! We hope to be back some day soon!!

If you're very lucky, and very still, you may hear an osprey hunting for its breakfast before the larger boats rumble to life. The old man who waits for you in reception greets you with warmth and enthusiasm, and what strength time has stolen from his hands has not yet abandoned his smile, which betrays the pleasure and pride at the history he sustains in this small Inn which is older than my country. Wake early, and travel just a few minutes along the coast to the small lighthouse where you can sit in silence and admire distant Mount Daisen, a prominent silhouette even from across the Sea of Japan.

I had some mistakes on booking in terms of the number of family members. The stuffs flexibly adjusted and accommodated us smoothly. I also did not know I had to book bbq in advance. Again, they quickly arranged it for us. I think the place is ran by a family but they are all super friendly and polite. Very kind and nice people.

Host was very kind, provided details on meeting spot before arrival as it can be hard to find at first in the mountains. Also checked in during our stay to make sure everything was comfortable. The property is such good value for money, beautiful wooden interior with a floor-to-ceiling window looking out into the forest. Bathtub is divine. Wifi, bluetooth speaker both added to the atmosphere. There is a fireplace too in case you stay in the cooler months. Highly recommend!

Everything is nice in the lodge, still you want to visit charming hot spring places. The lodge is 40 minutes drive from the nearest Gotsu city so you will need a car.
