Sweetest hosts and idyllic setting

If I could give 11/10 I would! A truly spectacular place, we stayed just 2 nights but it felt like a whole holiday, such a full and relaxing experience. A wonderful welcome and highly personalised service throughout. Excellent facilities: room, pool, gardens all really well built and maintained. Great breakfast! Interesting things to visit in the area: boat and kayak trips, walks.

The friendly staff, jolly dog and snuggly cat. Wide, open spaces - and a lovely glass of wine, and breathtaking view to finish the day - including warming fire place!

The host was extremelly helpful and was fully availabe to meet us even though we arrived late and took great care to ensure we felt welcomed. She had prepared a list of local places to visit and always replied very quickly when we needed something. The apartment is amazing, well equipped and located nearby several supermarkets, cafes, gas stations, etc.

This property is everything and so much more. Expectations were good prior to arriving but in honesty they exceeded this so much more when arriving. The property is quite compact but every space has been thoughtfully arranged and provides guests with absolute comfort. The garden is well laid out with various areas to relax during different points of the day. I'm all honesty pictures of the place do not do it it's full justice. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

I loved the peace and tranquillity of the area. The property was surrounded by beautiful fruit trees and fresh vegetables, which created a relaxing and natural atmosphere. The hosts lived nearby and were very kind, welcoming and helpful, while always respecting our privacy. The pool was cleaned every day, and the water was regularly tested, so it always felt fresh, clean and safe. Everything was well maintained, and the whole setting was perfect for switching off, relaxing and enjoying nature. I would happily stay here again.

Great house with beautiful views over the Douro river. The house was spacious and clean with a fantastic outside BBQ/pool/garden area overlooking the river. The house can fit 4 couples or 2-3 families. We had nice weather and spent much time outside in the garden, making BBQs, enjoying the views and playing table football/pool. We really appreciated finding some welcome drinks and snacks in the house already which was a nice surprise. There was a lot of practical things already present, including candles, charcoal for the BBQ and kitchen cleaning items that made it easy to enjoy the house as soon as we arrived. There is a little river beach just 5 minutes down the road which the kids liked. The 2rios restaurant on that beach had a great Francesinha that we recommend trying. Supermarkets are ~ 5 min drive.

The property in in a beautiful setting - with birds and wildlife all around. The property has 2 areas to sit out -so you have the sun or shade all day. The views were even better than imagined. The kayaks are very good quality and life jackets are provided. We used them to kayak up to the local Bitetos bar for lunch, where there is also a river beach for swimming.

Casa Novelhos was exactly what we were looking for- secluded and quiet, specious and generously equipped. The location is heaven for those looking to get away from the city hassle. It’s a driving distance from a supermarket and a couple of small restaurants and for us who prefer cooking their own meals the kitchen was like at home. Miguel was very kind, responsive and trustful. Many of the Douro valley treasures are within a 30-90 minutes drive. The house is also surrounded by hidden gems to hike and explore by just existing the front gate. Highly recommended.
