The rooms are so quiet and comfortable, all the staff of the hotel are helpful and friendly. The breakfast is western-style buffet with a wide variety of food but delicious.

The Hotel Rural Casa de Samaioes is something truly special in the often dreary hotel landscape. A wonderful Portuguese manor house, 5 km from Chaves, nestled amidst a vast estate planted with olive trees, fig trees, and grapevines. The old building has been skillfully renovated without compromising its historical architecture. We spent two nights in this magnificent property and were absolutely delighted. We had a very large room with a very comfortable bed and a small balcony, as well as a very spacious bathroom. The floor consisted of beautiful, wide wooden planks, not the usual carpeting. We also dined in the hotel's restaurant two evenings, and we can honestly say it was one of the best culinary experiences of our three-week trip to Portugal. The restaurant is a dream. Natural stone walls and exposed roof beams, along with oversized panoramic windows overlooking the mountains, create a truly unique atmosphere. The tables were perfectly set with great attention to detail. The restaurant offers a very generous appetizer buffet, as well as a choice of fish or meat for the main course. The dessert buffet is simply superb. We had fish on the first evening and meat on the second, and both were perfectly prepared and delicious. The service was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and professional. The very extensive breakfast, also served in the restaurant, left nothing to be desired. The service, as in the evening, was exceptionally friendly and impeccable. Chaves was the starting point and kilometer zero of our road trip along the EN 2 through Portugal from Chaves to Faro. We visited many beautiful hotels on our journey, and therefore we can say that the Casa de Samaioes is one of the best country hotels in Portugal. We are back home in Germany and look back fondly on our wonderful trip, and we are certain that we will definitely stay at the Casa de Samaioes again on our next trip to Portugal.

What an amazing place to stay! The 400 year old house has been lovingly restored and is full of quirky and characterful details. Luis gave us such a warm welcome, including some lovely wine. Breakfast was hearty and plentiful. We had the place mostly to ourselves and enjoyed relaxing in the living area by a cozy fire in the evening. We only regretted not having a chance to buy some wine or have dinner as our stay was quite short.

Very friendly hosts, you'll get not only help, but also some history lessons about Portugal, recommendations what to visist and where to eat. Very spacious, modern and clean room. Perfect breakfast. They also have private garden where you can pick berries or vegetables for your needs. Definitely it's one of the best stays in Portugal!

The hosts were very friendly and helpful, and even met me after hours to check me in as I had a late arrival. The property has the most adorable and friendly dog called Bengo. Bengo was very good at keeping me company and was happy to walk with me around the large grounds of the vineyard. The location is remote and has stunning views of the hills and the village. Very quiet surroundings. I will definitely stay there again if and when I go back to the region.

An amazing house with a stunning view. It was warm, cosy, and spotlessly clean. We accidentally left our AirPods behind, and the host kindly sent them back to us, which we really appreciated. An absolutely fantastic experience, highly recommend!

Lovely cosy cabin feel with a rural twist. Peace and quiet and perfect to spend quality time with loved ones are just a solo getaway.
