I LOVE this place! A beautifully curated space that welcomes you immediately. Max was beyond awesome and made us feel at home in every minute. He attended to every detail including the right music and and a special BBQ event with drumming, dancing, and a wild surprise! They have games and a dart board too! Restaurant open all day, great food, and the included breakfast offered something different each day which is much appreciated. The rooms were simple and sufficient with cool AC and soooo quiet!! The pool is perfect with shaded area at all times. Genius design! To cut down on plastic they offer a water station to refill your bottles at no cost any time. Also coffee and tea are available all day at no cost. Oh, and I also got the most amazing massage on site and they will reserve any tour you can think of which makes life so easy. Seriously, look no further. Babalao will not disappoint, it will delight!

Everything at the hostel was really good. From the privacy at the rooms, cleanliness, super host John and the bartender Emmanuel. The girls at the kitchen too. Would definitely go back there. Best place for solo travellers. The hostel exceeded my expectations, i regret why i never booked more days in the first place. We spent 4 pleasant days at African Bungalows and we really enjoyed it! The place is a quiet oasis with a beautiful garden and great pool, trees and plants give plenty of shade from the sun and heat. The owner is very kind, and the staff were warm and welcoming. Rooms are spacious, clean and modern with authentic vibes, bathroom is nice and has hot water. Breakfast and all meals were good in big portions, and they provide free drinking water with unlimited refills. Highly recommended hotel!

The owner and her team went above and beyond with passion and a smile. We visited multiple places across Zanzibar and this was our favorite spot.

Babalao is located near the main Nungwi beaches. Owners, Elena and Max and their team members are always there to help with any issue inside or outside the Babalao place. Breakfasts are great, always fresh prepared. Family room for 4 is just enough big that everyone can get his own place if needed. And at the end, garden with the swimming pool, nice dining area is just the cherry on the cake. Beautiuful and reccomended.

Lovely territory: spacious and a lot of plants, 3 swimming pools, several bars. Friendly stuff! Good, clean, comfortable beach area: it was safe to leave things, even valuable ones, on the beach loungers thanks to the security. The rooms is clean, mosquito nets on the beds, tea/coffee and a kettle in the room. Good location: easy to reach a lot of cafes and local shops.I highly recommend this hotel despite some minor downsides.

The staff was friendly and helpful right from our arrival. Our room was clean and tidy, with modern and tasteful furnishings. We especially liked the swimming pool and the view from our room, which was beautiful and provided true relaxation. The breakfast was plentiful and varied, with fresh local products. The staff also helped us to participate on Mnemba and Spicy farm tour. Overall, we were very satisfied with the services and environment. We will definitely return here when we are in the area again.
