This was a shot in the dark booking since I couldn’t find a place near the beach that was tattoo friendly. We were blown away at the facility, amenities and overall beauty of the location. I booked 3 rooms. Everyone had their own private onsen bath. My husband and I upgraded to the sauna barrel room and we LOVED IT. The guys all did sauna in the morning. They even give you handmade authentic sauna hats. Breakfast was simple but filling. Half of the group did the Japanese style, half did American. My jumbo toast made me feel like I was in a Ghibli movie having breakfast. There is a vending machine in the breakfast area was a variety of snacks and drinks. Our van made it on the roads to the property. So a standard vehicle will have no issue. Beautiful creak flowing in the backyard of every room. Every room has an entrance, toilet & sink room, living room (doubles as bedroom bc you have tatami beds), vanity sink & rack, THEN sliding door to your shower & bath, THEN sliding door to your porch with seating. Our room had the barrel immediately to the left of the porch with ANOTHER outdoor tub. Price was excellent!!

It’s located in higher ground and you can peer into a cute mini harbor right at the foot of the mountain from the seaside view room (p4). There’s a private onsen at the hotel that you can book (was included in my stay) and it has an awesome view during sunset (pic 2). You can also book the breakfast in advance (1600¥) which comes with 2 courses (salad + meat main meal and pancake) and self-serve beverages (including pressed juice from local fruits, which I found quite nice). You can also rent an e-bike for an entire day for 1000¥ (very cheap compared to other e-bike services) which is necessary for sight seeing around the area as buses are infrequent. Shirahama beach / shrine is 5min away, izukyu shimoda train station about 15min, and Ryugu Cave about 55min away on e-bike. The hotel owner is very nice and helpful! She helped me plan the next leg of my trip and even arranged a late breakfast booking! And gave me a ride to the train station on my last day!
