The facilities were beautiful and absolutely spotless. The setting was unreal, I kept having to tell myself, this is real, it's not a photo.. The staff was so friendly and kind. And the breakfast was amazing. We will stay there again if we are ever able to travel again to Maderia.

Rooftop facilities, the bar and the restaurant (the food was super delicious) are amazing! The view from the rooftop is breathtaking, especially at Sun rise. The staff was very kind. Miguel was very helpful at explaining the historical facts for the island , as well as advising on the sightseeings. The location is primary and just in the heart of Funchal, so traffic noise could be expected but at acceptable levels. The bed was extremely comfy.

On arrival, staff took our luggage and gave us a keycard to access the private parking. Our bags were then taken to our rooms after checking in. The view from our room was amazing, however it does not compare to view from the rooftop bar! Breakfast was amazing and the staff were exceptional. Overall 10/10 stay.

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Casa das Proteas is located at Estrada das Covas nº8, São Jorge, Madeira Island, 50 km from Funchal. The location is excellent as a starting point for several hikes. We stayed for two nights and had a great time. The rooms were uniquely beautiful, well-maintained, and clean, just like the entire property. The view is incredible. The two woman who are working there are super kind and helpful! The hotel’s location is excellent, making it very easy to reach many attractions. The breakfast is also fantastic and delicious.

Beautiful views, friendly and attentive staff, very nice breakfast. We were there at the beginning of January and were able to enjoy the outdoor pool and ocean views. We had a car (which we recommend so you have the freedom to explore the whole island) and there is free parking available below the hotel on the street with a lift up to the hotel. We will definitely book in again if we come back to Madeira.
