Our stay at Avana Retreat left us feeling pampered and zen. We went all in and booked one of the villas with a private pool and did not regret it for a moment. The pool was heated, so was able to be enjoyed even on the cooler days. The view was incredible and the mountains bring instant peace. We practiced yoga every day and meditation most days, and otherwise melted into our beautiful surroundings. The service was top notch, and the investment that the Resort has made in training staff from the local area is laudable. Special shout outs for Mai, Thuy and Hung who gave exceptional service and brought joy with every interaction we had with them. The spa was incredible - located amongst the waterfalls, the ambience could not be beaten, and every massage and treatment (we had one every day...!) was exceptional. Yen in particular has magic hands that leave you floating on air. We found Vietnamese food to be absolutely delicious, and the buffet breakfast was fabulous. Our take on the well-commented upon feedback on the food in reviews of the resort is around the western food options, which we find to be average wherever you go in Vietnam. What we say to this is why the heck would you travel to Vietnam to eat anything other than Vietnamese food, some of the best food you'll get anywhere in the world?! We loved that the Vietnamese food was grounded on local produce, and the sets were a great way to try new dishes.
