We had a wonderful stay at Alpl Resort! It is a charming place to stay in a beautiful area. The room was very large and comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were hearty. This is a wonderful place to stay. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We chose a suite and were surprised by the size of it. It had a coffee maker and a small fridge which were perfect for our stay. The bed was very comfortable and the walk-in shower was great. There was a tub but we didn't use it during our stay. There was a nice porch out front where we sat to enjoy the spring sunshine. Breakfast was a feast with items and coffee made to order as well as a large layout of food to chose from in the buffet. We ate dinner in the evening and everything was fresh and made to order. It was so good we were even tempted by dessert. We enjoyed being in a family run establishment which made us feel like welcome guests.

Everything was fine, great rooms, very good breakfast, but the view was exceptionally awesome! We also appreciated that our daughter stayed free of charge (she's 10 months old) and an age-appropriate, safe, high-quality bed was provided for her.

    The hosts cared for us like we were guests in their home, yet it is not a home it’s a lovely hotel in the heart of old town. Our room was lovely with custom furniture and an updated bathroom. The candlelight procession to the basilica walked right past the hotel and was so special. Due to train delays we arrived very late and the restaurant was already closed but the host called other restaurants to find one for us that was open and the hostess even walked outside to lead us there! The location is just minutes walk from the Basilica and all the shops and restaurants. Breakfast in the morning was very nice as well. The hotel has been in the family for 6 generations and it is clear they were raised to be good hosts! Their daughters were there helping mom and dad a bit too and I can tell the hotel will continue to be in good hands when their time comes! I would absolutely recommend this hotel!

    The interior design is beautiful, our room was spacious with a nice view towards the main square and the bathroom was pristine. The staff was very kind and helpful. The available parking lot made it easy to get to the hotel in the stuffed little city (not all hotels there have dedicated parking lots). The breakfast was very good and fresh, however it could have included a bit more variety, personally I was missing scrambled eggs or baked eggs. (There were only boiled eggs in shell)

    It is in a quiet small village in an astonishing natural area. It is with a beatifully kept garden. They are very thoughtful and caring about pet owners snd pets. (brochure, complimentary snacks and poop bags, blanket snd bowls in room, towels at garden doors to dry dog after walks). Swimming pools, saunas, steam cabin. Wonderful hiking spots and breathtaking nature at arms’ length.

    The small town is a beautiful "jewel box" (that's how we say it in Hungarian). I took a walk in the morning in the sunshine and it was beautiful. Mountains, rivers, viaduct. Quiet, safe and 20 minutes drive to the Semmering ski resort.

    Mitterbach is easily accessible via public transport with the Mariazeller trainline which runs nearly every hour or so. It is a small town so beware of the opening and 'rest times' of local supermarkets and restaurants. The choice is limited. That said, there are a couple of cosy, family-run places and it's a gorgeous area with loads of scenic hiking routes in a truly stunning area. Well worth visiting!

    Great location for a skiing holiday if you don't mind being away from shops, bars etc. Nearest restaurant is about 20mins walk up the mountain. On the other hand it's quite a nice place to be "stuck" in, has a warm relaxed vibe, the facilities are great and the staff super friendly. Pizzas are very good!

    A small village close to nature.

    A small village close to nature. It is rather a place for a calm stay with the family and dogs. If you want night life look somewhere else :) "Gasthaus 3-Länderblick" or as the locals refer to "Müllner-Rehberger" has a very good restaurant. Cafe Dorfstetter is a nice place for a drink.

    Perfect place for a short winter vacation.

    Perfect place for a short winter vacation. Vienna airport is 100 km away. Car rental is fairly inexpensive if you book in advance. Several ski rental shops are in the surroundings. If possible avoid weekends. Many people com for a ski weekend.

    The main attraction is the nearest mountain, Schneeberg. There is a hiking pass and a special train in summer. The hike is fantastic! Best fitness you can have and a great view (if the weather is not too bad).

    August. I tried to book in Reichenau an der Rax, to be close to the elevator/seilbahn, but optimized my expenses, so I booked to Payerbach. If you would like to get in walk distance from Raxaplen Austrian landscape, lot of hungarian staff in restaurants (hospitality, professionialism 10/10). Rax seilbahn elevator is 37 EUR / adult. I used my car to travel between villages. Main goal was to get to the Raxalpen mesa with my children, and we fulfilled this goal. Ottohaus and Raxalm-Berggasthof were good restaurants to take rest. At the villages nearby are petting zoo, waterfalls, you can swim in the small river, do small hikings to watch cows. Alps feeling 100%

    Amazing nature views and the world heritage railways right there. Coming by train requires either taxi / on-call bus, or a short hike up a quite steep road though. Easier by car oddly for a village right on the railways and famous for the railways. Past rich patronage means that costs are still inflated - it's a famous place after all.
