The trams were fanastic, free within the city. Victoria market had a good selection of meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. Really enjoyed the goal and the Melbourne star. The gondola at Arthurs Saddle was overpriced.
Great city and hospitality. Transportation is easy. I like the Queen Victoria Market very much. Love the fresh seafood and fruits.
Melbourne is a cozy city. We found many places of destination. City walk tour to enjoy the city like a local. Laying on the grass of Carlton garden, pick some fish n chips with a cup of coffee, sight seeing some souveniers at Queen Victoria Market. Go by bus to city if you’re travelling alone from Tullamarine airport, or take a taxi if you’re travelling 4 persons or more.
Melbourne is a big city so the free trams that go around the city are fantastic. Saves a lot of walking. We enjoyed the boat trip on the Yarra and our ride on the Melbourne Star. Our self drive trip along the Great Ocean Road was absolutely beautiful and so was our visit to Philip Island to see the penguin parade. An invigorating climb up the Grand Canyon track at the Grampians was a highlight and we enjoyed our one night stay at Halls Gap where kangaroos were grazing outside our motel room and cockatoos were very tame and friendly. We also enjoyed our trip to Ballarat where we visited Sovereign Hill and went down a gold mine. Fantastic holiday all round. Shame it had to end as there is so much more to explore in Victoria.
Arriving at Melbourne Airport has been easy. People are nice, warm and helpful. Hassle free transferring to CBD. The day to day weather during autumn are unpredictable, so do ensure to check the daily forecast so you’ll not have a problem with your plans. I love the southgate, Fed Square, NGV, Docklands, the free trams and transporation system is so easy, though getting packed at times especially during rush hour, I love exploring the gardens & free parks. Going suburbs will give you a brighter side of Melbourne & Victoria. I will definitely come back to Melbourne.
Melbourne is the best city in the world !! I go there as much as possible coming from the other side of Australia to visit. So many incredible restaurants , great bars and cafes. Shopping is wonderful . Good markets in Prahran and at Queen Vic in the city. Beautiful parks and gardens to enjoy. The art galleries in the city always have great shows. The sport is a big draw card . So many events to go to. Street art is brilliant. Getting around the city is easy. Free trams or just walk to so many things. There are wonderful furniture and design stores. Go on a tour of the laneways. Visit Chadstone to see incredible array of designer shops. Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Moncler, Balenciaga...and so many more . Do your homework on where to have a good breakfast. I like Top Paddock in Richmond, Proud Mary in Collingwood and Bentwood in Fitzroy. Don’t miss going to La Lune bakery in Fitzroy. Line up for Chin Chin in Flinders Lane for Asian fusion food. Mind blowing Japanese at Kisume just down the road has the nicest Japanese in a super slick but stylish setting. Elba on Russell St for excellent drinks and sharing plates. It’s often free at the National Gallery of Victoria. A definite must see. Sit out in their garden and chill. The best fun...footy at the MCG!! Do it.
Booked a Great Ocean drive tour on a 24 passenger mini-bus and the coach was tight - wish we had booked a seat on a full size coach. Great city for a week long visit. Especially enjoyed Queen Victoria market and the botanical gardens.
Great public transport to all places you might want to visit. Went to visit the Shrine. Of Remembrance, Victoria Market & St Kilda Rd. Easy on the tram. Plenty of food choices in Little. Bourke St. Chinatown area.
Lygon Street is fantastic so many beautiful places to eat! The city is very interesting The Old Melbourne Gaol was fantastic Queen Victoria Markets sensational Riding the trams was fun
Very easy to get around. Loved the great restaurants and bars. Old Melbourne Gail was very interesting. Victoria markets fabulous. Brunswick Street really quirky & interesting. Great Vego restaurant off of Brunswick street called Transformer??
Horsham
The room was very spacious and comfortable . Bed was comfy. The ensuite was also a good size and very clean. The parking bays were all large enough to take a med/large 4WD without being really close to the car parked next to it. Great amenities - nice pool and games room. Property across the road from May Park which has a playground for the kids and walking distance to petrol station and McDonalds and Victoria Hotel (next door). Even though on main road, there was not any road noise. Great place to stay for either families or couples.
West Melbourne, Melbourne
This apartment is perfect for our vacation. It is very clean and comfortable. Everything that we need for the stay is provided (coffee, basic cooking ingredients, laundry detergent etc) The supermarket is nearby, and it is also not far from the Queen victoria Market. we really recommend this place for family with young children. Booster seat and kit's tableware were provided. it is close to a park with playground. Good Wifi. We had the rental car on the last night so the free parking was great. The host was very helpful.
Port Fairy
We really appreciated the friendly welcome and the wonderful surroundings. It is in a quiet location with views of the harbour from the attic windows. There are plenty of choices of beautiful spaces within the hotel in which to relax. The cottage garden is delightful. The owners have manintained the quirky, historical character of this -the oldest inn in Victoria - really well. A highlight was the superb dinner we enjoyed in the private dining room. Breakfast in the charming garden room was excellent as well.
Halls Gap
The location is amazing and the best thing about this hotel was the service and the view from the backyard out to the paddocks and mountains. The rooms were super clean and well laid out and the ability to get service from the owner was exceptional - towels changed, dirty plates removed etc. all quickly. Being able to have relax on the deck and then sit by the fire with kangaroos all around watching the sun go down made each day there so special. This was may favourite hotel in our trip through Victoria.
Daylesford
The house is so beautifully designed and extremely clean - we loved that the house was almost divided into two sections - the typical country house/cottage and a newly modern Victorian home. The fire places in every room are a great touch to keep you feeling toasty and we thought the kitchen was the best kitchen we have ever seen in a holiday rental apartment - it had everything you needed including rice cookers, pizza oven and a Dutch oven! We will certainly be returning and can’t wait until we do!
Horsham
We had intended driving further but decided to stop overnight , saw this on the web site and thought it would be prefect for o/n stay and it was . Spacious cabin, comfortable bed, plenty of towels and a great heater in the bathroom ( it was a cold night ) Was actually quite as overnight and in the morning which surprised us with the location and access to the highway. Asked about somewhere to have a nice evening meal and The Victoria Hotel was recommended, had a delicious meal:)
For a smaller boutique hotel, I wasn't sure what to expect. The Jasper is located in a fantastic area, right next to the Queen Victoria Market, and with a tram stop immediately outside the front door. The hotel itself is quiet, and I appreciated the small things that were provided like a hair dryer in my room, and plugs with USB ports in them for charging all of my devices! I will absolutely be recommending this hotel to my friends if they're ever traveling to Melbourne.
It is always a pleasure to stay at the Grand Hotel. So close to everything - Flinders train station, Queen Victoria Markets, DFO, Sea Life, MCG. You can catch the free tram literally up the road; there are so many restaurants within walking distance, just park the car & leave it there for the length of your stay. The staff are always friendly & accommodating. The chocolates & welcome card were a lovely & unexpected touch.
Halls Gap
Cockatoo Cabin is a rustic timber home which is a great as a base for exploring the Grampians region. It's a small partly renovated cabin with a modern bathroom. The cockatoos arrived on the verandah within 2 minutes of parking our car there! And they're very friendly. Plus we found a kangaroo in the front garden when returning one evening. This is the best area in Victoria for seeing Australian wildlife roaming free.
Melbourne
New hotel, very clean and great location. There was a small pantry area with a full-size fridge so would be good for longer stays. Opposite the Victoria market which has numerous stalls that open 6am with a great range of pastries for a quick breakfast or a McD just a few steps away. The Victoria market Wednesday evening is super busy and just opposite but didn't hear the noise from the rooms which was great.
Sorrento
The room was amazingly spacious and clean with all the essentials we needed for an overnight stay. Kettle toaster microwave crockery and cutlery. Spacious bathroom and seperate toilet. Room upgrade from booking.com was an advantage. Highly recommend this accomodation. We have been on the road for over a week now staying in various motels in NSW, South Australia and Victoria. This was with no doubt the best
Ballarat
This was my second time staying at the Victoriana and it lived up to expectations. My room was more like a small unit/apartment, i.e. large enough to live in, with car parking alongside. The bathroom looked to be original, but was very spacious and even included a spa bath which unfortunately I didn't have time to use. Everything was spotlessly clean and I had a very comfortable stay here.
Bright
Chestnut Tree Holiday units are set in one of the most beautiful surroundings of Bright, Victoria with immaculate gardens and terrific views from the rooms. Our apartment was super clean and well decorated, beds super comfy and the hosts have gone above and beyond making sure all is provided for a comfortable stay. One of the top places we have stayed at in Victoria. Look forward to returning.
Portland
Lorelei B&B is a great place. It will make you travel through time back to the Victorian period, nonetheless with all expected modern comfort. Roger welcomed us in warm way, and we had interesting conversations about the region, and its history. In spite of the bad weather, it was the best place we were over 3 weeks we spent in Australia. Wifi , bathroom spa, breakfirst ++
Warrnambool
Owners were honest and very helpful, they were genuine as is most people in regional Victoria. They were concerned when we bought it to their attention about our sleepless night. They gave us a new toaster thinking that it was faulty and tripping the safety switch. Our experience was with room 1A,there are other rooms available which may not have the issues we had.
While not in the center of the CBD, this hotel is located on a lovely park as well as on the #30 and #35 tram lines and the Flagstaff station. This makes it easy to access all parts of Melbourne. A huge plus is that Jazz Corner is a short walk from the Quenn Victoria Market. The rooms are upscale and well appointed, and include an in-room washer and dryer.
Benalla
We had a wonderful 2 night stay in this beautiful cosy Victorian era home. Location is perfect for walking into town to see all the beautiful murals from artists from Australia and international. Continental breakfast was included along with a surprise bottle of wine with cheeses and crackers. Very relaxing and worth booking.
Marysville
Simply the best accomodation in Victoria. It was our second time there and it was amazing again, every detail is perfect and I sometimes wished I could live in the manor! We also went for a couple massage and enjoyed it a lot. If I come back to Australia, I would make sure to go to the manor!
Melbourne
The location was excellent - opposite beautiful Flagstaff Garden and very close to the Queen Victoria Markets. The free circle line tram is around the corner. The view from the room over the garden and the city skyline were awesome. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
Melbourne
Friendly, helpful staff made check-in fast and easy. Fully equipped apartment was comfortable to stay in. The warm swimming pool was a bonus which made the place special. A short walk to trams, the park and Victoria market meant a good location for me to enjoy Melbourne.
