My stay was perfect. Excellent staff, fantastic building, impeccable cleaning. The best mattress ever and even a parking spot in front of the door. Breakfast doesn't lack anything and the local cheese is yummy! Really a perfect stay, too bad I couldn't stay longer!

Perfect location on an amazing spot! The views are incredible. I think it is a perfect place for a couple, but we were with our one year old and we felt also very welcome. Good food and parking right in front of the hotel. We stayed in a hotel room and the appartment. Both were very nice! Overall, a great stay, thank you!

Perfectly located near the train station. The building includes a shopping centre with a well-known Swiss supermarket. The room was super quiet anyway. Also very comfortable and clean. And finally a room with sufficient and easily accessible electrical outlets =) I received a room upgrade for free with a very nice view - thank you so much! The whole staff is super friendly and helpful. Absolutely enjoyed my stay and hope to be back one day.

The decor of the hotel was consistently romantic and cosy from top to bottom, the wooden features made it feel instantly homely and warm, especially with the sound of the floor boards at the breakfast room. It was a lovely summer stay in the mountains but I can imagine would be extra cute in the winter. Food was brilliant, and staff so hospitable.

People (personal), location, and breakfast was really nice. Small room for 1 which was enough, just separated bathroom on the next door in the corridor. The corner room had no internet which was the main minus especially if you need to work.. By 15 min walk you can find a nice 100 year old cave to go inside the past. :)

This is a beautiful, somewhat overlooked (in the past 60 years or so) little town in central Switzerland with a fascinating history and phenomenal local tap water. I visited as it's the last place lived in by Clementine Walkinshaw, for her final ten years from 1792 until 1802 when she passed away as I'm a Royal Stuarts and late Stuarts in exile research historian for over a decade. Her grandson Charles Rochenstart also knew this town and stayed up at Bern at times. The wider area has some subtle rather forgotten links to the exiled Stuarts and their European relatives and contacts. It's a charming place, a very large number of convents for it's size hints at the connectivity to the catholic church hierarchy in the past and you are not far from Gruyere with it's cheese and amazing castle. Fribourg like Bern, only 20-30 minutes on the train is a nice base for exploring the central Swiss area. There are also a few museums about. not many Brits seem to stop here, I've come across German and Japanese tourists and academics visiting but few public. Speaking some French or German useful but not essential. Most people do speak English but good to speak Fr, German or even a bit of Italian. There are also quite a number of fountains about with the wonderful local water, be sure to try the one behind St Nicholas Cathedral and DO visit inside St Nicholas after seeing the amazing Route des Alpes. Hold bottle under spout, don;t gather from the basin.

It's close to Gruyeres and Broc, which allowed us to visit the Maison Cailler (chocolate) and La Maison du Gruyere (cheese), as well as the village and castle of Gruyeres. The Bains de Gruyeres at Hotel Cailler are wonderful.

Bulle is a small, but charming little city in the Gruyère region. Perfect location to stay if you want to visit the Maison du Gruyère, Chateau du Gruyère, or the Maison Cailler chocolate factory, or go to the desalpe in Charmey. The town has a lot of delicious eateries, and everyone we encountered was very friendly. I would happily spend more time in Bulle, and visit the surrounding areas. Hotel D Bulle is the place to stay, Hotel Tonnelier for dinner is very good, Bread Store for pastries is delicious, Kalyna creperie is super yummy, and Auberge aux 13 Cantons is great for dinner too! Bulle feels very safe and is very walkable. Staying at Hoyel D Bulle puts you right at the train station and bus station so it’s super easy to get around the region.

We stayed in the village on the hill.

We stayed in the village on the hill. We enjoyed the castle and scenery. There is a bus that will take you down to the main town where you can catch the train. There was plenty of parking outside the town, as the village is only drivable for locals and businesses. We took a train to Broc to visit the oldest chocolate factory. Being fans of the movie Alien, we enjoyed seeing the HR Giger Museum and visiting the bar.

Nice medival city - with the Jazz festival it was really great Castle to visit Nice restaurants in the old town On the beach: - good restaurant - Water Skilift even good for beginners - Childrens playground - the beach is with shallow water (small children) - you can rent Winsurfboards etc.

My second time in Romont and I was as impressed as I was the first time. Quiet, natural little town with beautiful views from the city walls. Great stained glass museum and some of the friendliest people in Switzerland. It's a hidden gem.

We had afternoon coffee and cake and breakfast at a local Cafe called Suard. Definitely a place for locals. The cake and breads were fabulous. Service exceptional. The area is quite industrial but in the foothills of forest and the countryside. Perhaps a 10 minute drive from the picturesque city of Fribourg which we sadly didn't have time to visit. We ate dinner in the Escale restaurant and could not fault anything, service, food and incredibly authentic and delicious. If you get a chance to stay Saturday night your in for a real treat as 200+ ladies and gentlemen descend on the Hall for 'Bingo' night. wonderfully old school and everyone really friendly.

Fribourg itself is very appealing!

Fribourg itself is very appealing! Its cobbled streets and medieval city walls and towers spread over hilly terrain give it full-on charm! Many great dining options too. Apart from all these, Fribourg is a convenient base to explore many other beautiful towns like Gruyeres, Murten or Estavayer-le-Lac!

Bulle has been a stopping off point for several years now - it's a wonderful small town with a very nice centre. There's a choice of several good hotels and there are plenty of restaurants. The local cheese fondue is a must!

Gruyères was one of the highlights of our trip.

Gruyères was one of the highlights of our trip. We visited the historic castle and enjoyed learning about the fascinating history of the region. The village itself is beautifully preserved, with charming streets, traditional buildings, and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. What we appreciated most was that, despite being a popular destination, Gruyères did not feel overrun with tourists. It retained a relaxed and authentic atmosphere that made it a pleasure to explore at our own pace. We would highly recommend a visit to anyone looking for a mix of history, culture, and Swiss charm.
