Beautiful place with cosy interior. All details of the decor have been carefully thought out. Tradition married with modern touch. The place is all what you would expect from the Swiss Alpine Chalet. 🙂 Great restaurant. We had a very nice dinner there. Food was delicious. Staff was very helpful and customer oriented. A perfect room for a family with small kids. The panoramic view is amazing. There is a hiking path to the lake of Murten just underneath the hotel. 20 minutes drive to Papiliorama, if you want to be there early. The best is to be at Papiliorama as soon as it opens in the morning. The breakfast is delicious and the staff is very friendly and accommodating.

A perfect overnight stay on a transit journey. After reading reviews I was slightly worried about finding the parking. But it was super easy for us. And the parking is big with some dedicated places for hotel guests right after entrance. The were a lot of restaurants to choose from for dinner. The staff was efficient and welcoming. Very clean and comfortable rooms, pretty big too. The hotel is close to the train station but it was super quiet. You do not hear the trains at all. We will stay again.

A Perfect Stay Surrounded by Nature and Relaxation We stayed at this hotel to enjoy not only the beautiful natural surroundings but also the amazing spa. We had already visited the spa before, but this time, we decided to stay overnight – and it turned out to be an excellent idea! Unlimited access to the spa was a great bonus, and the tunnel connecting the hotel directly to the wellness area made everything so much easier. No need to worry about changing – bathrobes, towels, and slippers were all provided, allowing for complete relaxation. We especially loved the thermal pools with stunning views, the cozy atmosphere, the attentive staff, and the live music in the bar in the evening. The breakfast was also worth mentioning – delicious and with a great variety of choices. We would definitely love to come back!

This hotel is impressive for its heritage: first documented as a hotel in the 14C. But despite some intentional remnants in the building, the rooms have been modernized by a designer with excellent style and taste. No indication that the room was any older than a few years! We had a room with a small kitchen and courtyard view, but it was spacious and very quiet - couldn't even hear any noise from the restaurant right below. Murten is a charming medieval town that is worth stopping in for a night when the tourists are gone and the atmosphere is special.

People (personal), location, and breakfast was really nice. Small room for 1 which was enough, just separated bathroom on the next door in the corridor. The corner room had no internet which was the main minus especially if you need to work.. By 15 min walk you can find a nice 100 year old cave to go inside the past. :)

Overall Experience:

Overall Experience: I visited Fribourg specifically for the Ice Hockey World Championship, and the city left a lasting impression on me. Despite some initial trouble with my accommodation, the city itself is absolutely wonderful and worth visiting even outside of major sporting events. What I loved: Atmosphere & Architecture: The historic center is stunning. Walking through the medieval streets feels like stepping back in time. The local architecture is beautifully preserved and creates a unique, authentic vibe. The Setting: The city is remarkably picturesque, with dramatic views and a charming local culture. Accessibility: Even if you stay slightly outside the center (like in Marly), the public transport is top-notch. Bus No. 1 is frequent and gets you to the heart of the action or the ice hockey arena in no time. My Tip: If you are coming for hockey or any event at the arena, Fribourg is a perfect host city. It’s small enough to feel cozy but has the spirit of a major European destination. Just make sure to book a room with a view of the historic squares – the scenery is world-class!

It's a very attractive little lakeside town with a medieval centre, including intact and walkable fortification wall, and lots of nice places to eat. It is well-connected transport-wise for visits to nearby attractions like the roman ruins in Avenches or the (really well-worth visiting) 12th century abbey in Payerne. Lake boats ply daily (in summer) to Neuchatel.

Bulle has been a stopping off point for several years now - it's a wonderful small town with a very nice centre. There's a choice of several good hotels and there are plenty of restaurants. The local cheese fondue is a must!

Gruyères was one of the highlights of our trip.

Gruyères was one of the highlights of our trip. We visited the historic castle and enjoyed learning about the fascinating history of the region. The village itself is beautifully preserved, with charming streets, traditional buildings, and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. What we appreciated most was that, despite being a popular destination, Gruyères did not feel overrun with tourists. It retained a relaxed and authentic atmosphere that made it a pleasure to explore at our own pace. We would highly recommend a visit to anyone looking for a mix of history, culture, and Swiss charm.

It's close to Gruyeres and Broc, which allowed us to visit the Maison Cailler (chocolate) and La Maison du Gruyere (cheese), as well as the village and castle of Gruyeres. The Bains de Gruyeres at Hotel Cailler are wonderful.

If you don't care about comfortability and cleanliness you can stay there. I usually don't care much about it, but this time it was too much for me. Liked · The hotel is located around 15 mins by bus from the center and 10 mins from the university where I was going to work. The checking was smooth and the next day (I don't know why I didn't receive it during the checking) I was offered a free transport ticket for the city that came in very handy. The room was pretty big, with a nice view of the mountains, and even if I slept with the windows open there was no noise. Disliked · The room wasn't clean: the floor of the room was dusty, the floor of the bathroom had hairs and also dust, the pillows smell used and dusty and the sofa smell of humidity (just like pee, it doesn't affect me much because the room was big and I slept on the other bed). They also left a used toilet paper in the bathroom. When I went to the manager to express these issues he was attentive, however, when I come back to see if the issues were solved he implied it was all my imagination but they were doing their best to comply with me. He also told me that it was normal to have hairs all over the bathroom and that I could use the paper used by someone else because it was the way they do it (I have never heard something like that). When I arrived in the room it was very clean and smelled of soap (except the sofa area), so they really clean it. They changed my pillow and it was a bit better. I tried to use the dryer the last day and it didn't work. I feel like, as a guest, I don't need to worry about receiving the room and the sheets clean, and if I inquire politely about it, I don't like to be shown as extremist or crazy. My second time in Romont and I was as impressed as I was the first time. Quiet, natural little town with beautiful views from the city walls. Great stained glass museum and some of the friendliest people in Switzerland. It's a hidden gem.

Nice medival city - with the Jazz festival it was really great Castle to visit Nice restaurants in the old town On the beach: - good restaurant - Water Skilift even good for beginners - Childrens playground - the beach is with shallow water (small children) - you can rent Winsurfboards etc.

Montbovon is a small village nestled between two villages.

Montbovon is a small village nestled between two villages. There isn't much to see - it's a convenient stopping off point for you to explore the Fribourg area without paying too much in accommodation fees. In terms of food choices, you'd be better off either eating at the hotel, or going to a nearby town to buy food before heading back to your hotel. That being said, the area is GORGEOUS in winter, and if you time your visit correctly, you can see the glorious mountains around you covered in snow.

Fribourg is not a large town but there are a few very interesting things to do. The museums are quite fantastic and have much to offer. There are many walks including up the hill to the Chapelle de Lorette. As a Catholic town, there are some fascinating relics and history at the local churches. As a bilingual city, its fascinating to hear French, Swiss German, and a decent amount of Italian all at the same time. The food scene is quite nice and not as expensive as other places in Switzerland.
