Friendly, attentive staff; good size room with a TV that got sports stations (I'm an NFL fan & appreciated I could watch the playoffs); the shower had good pressure & hot water; a good fan with timer (no a/c but it wasn't needed, didn't get too hot); a shared kitchen area which was basic but at least you could store food in the fridge, cook using stove or microwave, etc. bed was decent; table and chair in the room

I really liked the proximity to the sea. Lots of restaurants in the area. The hotel staff was courteous and the room was clean (there was a cleaning staff in the room every day).Shower with excellent hot water flow. Best after a day of surfing. Highly recommend

Iquique is a beautiful city with fantastic beaches and...
Iquique is a beautiful city with fantastic beaches and pleasant weather. Its location is unique, with the mountains on one side and the sea on the other. We spent about a week here and really enjoyed our trip. Cavancha Beach was especially lovely, and the city had a relaxing atmosphere. Overall, we had a wonderful experience in Iquique.

Pica is an interesting place - - a big oasis in the driest desert of the world. Good base for making day excursions to nearby places, especially the Salar de Huasco (salt lake) in 4000 meter altitude.

Nice city, playa Cavancha is beautifull and safe for swimming, specially if you go in the morning, the ocean is more calm.
From the Hotel Gavina you have access to lot of places and don't need a car.

I went to attend to specific business, so it was a fine...
I went to attend to specific business, so it was a fine short stay. In terms of tourism, the city has to offer some shopping/entertainment and good prices. I did not try the beaches, but they look fine. The Baquedano street is charming. I would not recommend too long of a stay though, as there is not so much to do in the city itself, unless you use it as a base to try nearby interests, which I know exist, but I did not have the time to explore myself this time. The weather in winter in very fine: short sleeves during the day and a light hoodie at night will do it.
