Traditional in the best way, yet modern fixtures and appears newly renovated — staff are so genuinely kind…across the board from reception to security to the room service and cleaning staff. The shower is marvelous! The gym is well-equipped and the pool offers a wondrous refuge from wherever you might have traveled to reach here. In spite of being situated right on the main road, the corridors and rooms are absolutely quiet. Certainly a bit pricey, however well worth it in every respect.

We had a suite which was roomy. Breakfast was fresh, especially the freshly made juice. The front desk lady (I wish I remembered her name - beautiful dark skin with braids) was so kind to make sure she called us to make it to breakfast since we were so jet-lagged. Availability of the kitchen to prepare a meal for my 2-year-old at 2 am was also a plus. I will return there on future visits. Thanks for making my trip pleasurable. The facility was secured and has a generator.

On my second visit to this hotel I was upgraded to a mini-suite which was wonderful. I would recommend this hotel to travelers who are passing through Douala because the hotel's shuttle service is excellent.

I attained the objective of my visit.

I attained the objective of my visit. But for the poor hygiene and sanitation at the Hotel Sawa, all other things were very good. Dinner at the Gemi Wing restaurant was excellent. I can easily move around Douala because of the availability of different transport options. On my net visit, I will avoid the Sawa Hotel

Douala is the life wire of the Cameroon economy, with lots businesses centered here. It is easy to get around with yellow taxi, taxi from your hotel or using a mobile app to get a taxi. The town is at the sea bed of the atlantic ocean and the wouri river, heavy rainfall, hot and humid weather! Akwa, where my hotel was located, was not clean at all, especially at Boulevard Ahmadou Ahidjo. The streets had not been swept and refuse dump every where.

The house was dusty and the fridge dirty.

The house was dusty and the fridge dirty. The sheet were of the same as what was advertised hence not changed. The electricity is prepaid and i have to pay for that. I later noted that under the bed was never swept. ( see picture). They were cockroaches in the bathroom. Overall the state of the place was so dirty and not worth the money paid.
