I visited Santa Maria and stayed at 7 different, equivalent hotels during the week. Design Suites is the best hotel. The staff is helpful and very nice. I had tv problems and the manager organized help immediately and solved the problem. The cleaning is very good. Overall, the maintenance of the hotel is good. During the week there were several power outages on the island. In this hotel, the business has worked without problems. This indicates a good organization and committed staff. I will gladly come back to the "best hotel" on the island.

The beds and pillows! Incredible and comfy The shower pressure was good, and the water was warm. The size of the room was great, too, with a small balcony. Lovely apartment looking over the sea. Very clean and well appointed. When I had a question, facility manager was there in minutes. Very relaxing place with a great pool and also beach access. Very friendly staff. A minute walk into the centre of Santa Maria and all the amenities.

The property was very clean and well designed, so all rooms looked out onto the beautiful swimming pool. A lot of care and attention is made to the immaculate surrounding gardens, with lustrous colours of the eye catching flowers. It was very welcoming, and comfortable.

I had an amazing experience at Surf House Cabo Verde. Aldo and Barbara are absolutely fantastic — extremely kind, friendly, and always available whenever you need anything. You can really feel his hospitality and attention to detail, which made my stay very comfortable. The apartment is spacious, bright, and very clean. It’s in a perfect location — close to everything, yet quiet and relaxing. The internet connection is excellent, which made it easy to work and stay connected. I truly enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Cabo Verde. It’s a wonderful home away from home!

The hotel is very new and located in one of the best beach in Sal. The food is super delicious, varied and simple perfect. They have a lot of work out classes that are awsome, the quality is the same as a very good gym. The beach yoga is incredible! The rooms are new and are extremly confortable. And the staff is super nice, and communicative. I really liked that the staff ate at the buffet with the guests, it really shows they care about the employees.

It is the best possible apartment in Santa Maria. Location 15/10, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, cleaning, everything. The host Sara was extremely nice and lovely. She helped with all our requests and questions within 30 minutes time.

Amazing breakfast, a lot of options, and staff really nice always ready to help with everything we need. The best hotel I have been so far. My flight was late and they offer us a room to have a shower for 30 min at the end of the day.

Very tourist-dominant and expensive!

Very tourist-dominant and expensive! Lots of people are trying to sell you the same tacky souvenirs over and over again! Some parts near the centre are very shabby. One visit is enough, although some people go several times due to the all-year-round sun! It was ok and lovely in parts, but be prepared to be harassed daily by the locals selling stuff!

Perfect base to explore the whole island of Sal.

Perfect base to explore the whole island of Sal. Very close to the airport. Especially nice experience for me was Pedra de Lume. There are nice and helpful people everywhere. I will certainly come back. Please note that this is not a beach or resort type of holiday like in Santa Maria.

Beirona/ Murdeira is a beautiful place, definitely worth choosing if you want to relax on the beach/ by the pool without crowds of people around you. There’s just one shop here ( it has an ATM which is a huge advantage), but it’s well stocked. If you’re not a fan of big resorts, but want a laid back holiday, be sure to visit.

This is a small working port town with a traditional small scale fishing industry. It is gradually coming up into the modern world as a result of tourism. The harbour is used by yachts, tall ships and daytrip boats. There is a town beach but it is not commercialised in any way and is not cleaned for leisure purposes. The people are friendly and we did not feel threatened in any way. Restaurants, hotels and some shops will accept Euros and there is an ATM in the town. We liked Palmeira for a short visit before and after a sailing holiday. A taxi to the airport costs 800 cve or 8 Euro.

We were only there for three nights to get some sun and snorkelling. If we’d stayed longer I would have gone on a couple of trips but there isn’t lots to do there. I went to relax and enjoy the sun and sea, I could have stayed one more day but not enough there to keep you busy for a week. Some nice restaurants along the strip and the people weren’t too pushy which I loved even the guys selling on the beach.

Espargos is a good place to stay to reach the Blue Eye Cave,...

Espargos is a good place to stay to reach the Blue Eye Cave, Shark Bay and Pedro da Lume, but I thought it would be cheaper to get to those places by taxi. Overall not much to do in the city itself, but I didnt want to miss the island’s capital. Not as touristy as Santa Maria, you can stroll the streets without being bothered, I felt safe, very friendly propeople as everywhere on Sal .

Santa maria= no stress. Lovely place... Can be expensive in certain restaurants, but also affordable in othere. Very lovely beaches, bars, restaurants etc. You meet alot of people from all over the world.. Good for solo travellers, you'll meet other solo travellers too. Loved it,i would come back.
