Very friendly staff, both at check in, and the next day for breakfast and checkout. We actually had car troubles the next day and the front desk staff person was very helpful arranging for a tow truck. Room was very clean, and the bed was very comfy. Best part was, the hotel was so quiet - we could not hear anyone else, and it was so peaceful. Breakfast the next morning was excellent.

Set in a 12th-Century building, this hotel offers spa facilities and elegant rooms overlooking gardens and the beautiful Tauber Valley. It stands on the edge of Rothenburg’s Medieval town center. I was lucky enough to stay in the Three-Bedroom Suite that is in a building almost 1,000 years old! There is a small staircase to go up to the first floor which contains the master bedroom with a pleasant reading room, the large and renovated bathroom with shower and a balcony with a beautiful view of the valley. On the second floor there are 2 more comfortable bedrooms and a restroom with a sink. We were very comfortable (couple + 3 children). I didn't miss air conditioning as the temperature at night in the city is quite pleasant even during summer. The hotel's breakfast is simple and homemade. The location is close to everything but very quiet. The hotel staff is friendly. One night we forgot the key to the main door and the owner's daughter came to our rescue with a smile.

The hotel is located exactly at the main square and a lot of parking options were available on the street, which is really practical if you are arriving at Saturday evening.

The Hotel Restaurant Staussen is a hidden gem. Exceptional value for money. We stayed for one night and also reserved a table for our evening meal in the restaurant too. Our room was immaculately clean and so comfortable. We enjoyed our meal in the very busy and popular restaurant. I’d recommend reserving your table. Breakfast was a buffet - help yourself to breads, cheeses, ham, delicious yoghurts, fruit, eggs, juices, tea, coffee. perfect to start our day. A perfect, good value, overnight stop, if touring the romantic road.

The town was a fairy tale like home base to explore other towns along the Romantic Road. Restaurants and bakeries just steps away. We loved Wieb’s Brewery just around the corner. We would absolutely recommend either of the apartments (Hansel or Gretel). Parking was free and easy.

Whilst staying there (for just one night, as we travelled along ‘the romantic road’) we were very pleasantly surprised to have two glasses of champagne provided to my wife and myself, as it was my birthday. The hotel is perfectly located on the Romantic Road cycle route - you don’t have to look for it. Bike storage was excellent. Our bikes were locked up inside a garage. We also appreciated how brightly lit our room was. Too many rooms we have stayed in are so poorly lit it depressing after the sun goes down.

The staff is extremely friendly - everyone greeted us or even did some small talk. From the cleaning staff up to the manager. The gym and spa area is very clean and well equipped incl a great view to the mountains. As, I am pregnant, I was amazed how well the kitchen was prepared for that. I did not have to worry about eating anything which could harm my baby.
