Hotel San Agustin Plaza is located in Latacunga and has a fitness center and a terrace. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV with cable channels and a private bathroom. Great staff, very professional. Lovely clean and modern rooms. Very comfortable. Helped us with transport, finding a restaurant and a tour.
Rondador Cotopaxi is located in Chasqui and has a garden, a terrace and a shared lounge. This 3-star hotel offers a bar. The property has free WiFi. The family that runs the place is SO KIND and they’ve done an excellent job of making the hostel the perfecto stop if you’re visiting Cotopaxi. Here are some highlights: LOCATION: The proximity to Cotopaxi is stellar - right from the hostal you can see the mountain as it’s right on the road that takes you to the park. The hostal can also help arrange transportation and a guide to the volcano. BREAKFAST: THE best breakfast provided by any hostal. Juice is fresh and the fruit bowls are big and filled with a large variety. ROOMS: Our room was comfy, cozy and clean. The beds had lots of blankets for the cold nights and they provide a space heater if it gets exceptionally cold.
Offering a restaurant, Casa Sakiwa is located in Machachi. Unlimited tea, free WiFi access and free private parking are available. Each bedroom includes thermal bed sheets and black-out curtains. Sakiwa is a family run business and they are wonderful and so friendly. The service was incredible. A must stop for the traveller to Machaci. I plan on staying there again on a future trip. Awesome place!
Hacienda El Sinche is located in Machachi. Offering a restaurant, the property also has a garden. The property has mountain views, a playground, and free WiFi is available. We spent 3 wonderful days here. The people are incredibly friendly and helpful. We could ride horses, cuddle puppies, make cheese and pizza and read for hours on comfy couches. And it is a perfect base camp for a trip to the Cotopaxi via the north entrance. Javier speaks English as well and is a fantastic host. His whole family made us feel at home. We want to come back one day...
Featuring a garden, a restaurant and an Inca Chapel, Hacienda San Agustin de Callo offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and fireplaces in Cotopaxi. Free parking is provided. In a long life of travel and adventure, this is perhaps the best place I have ever stayed. The room was beautiful- indeed, the entire property and location. The staff attentive and delightful, the food delicious. So glad to have had the opportunity
Offering free WiFi, Hotel Rosim is located in Latacunga. This 5-star hotel offers a shared lounge. Staff on site can arrange a shuttle service. Rooms come with a private bathroom. Senor Fausto Rivera is the best hotel manager ever! It is rare that guests have such a gracious, accommodating host. He is a gem and the price was right. We arrived in Latacunga to attend the La Mama Negra festival the next morning. We were immediately told that if we parked our car in the Hotel's garage we wouldn't be able to get out the next day because of parade barriers. Senor Rivera arrived and arranged for us to park at his home instead. And there's more to praise. We were given the only double room with a balcony looking out directly on the parade route and he let us delay our check-out so we could watch the preparations from our balcony in comfort. Then he provided us with chairs right outside the hotel and stored our luggage while we watched the parade. After the parade he personally walked me back to his house to retrieve my car. It was "loco" out there with people partying and traffic tied up everywhere. We are indebted to Senor Rivera for his overwhelming hospitality. Other pluses: good breakfast included, hot showers, comfortable beds, perfect downtown location and a wide variety of rooms from singles to many beds. Hotel Rodelu is located next door and has a nice street-front cafe and a dining room. Hotel Rosim is very convenient and inexpensive. Great value!
Featuring a bar and a restaurant, Hotel Cotopaxi is located in Latacunga. This 3-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. Rooms come with a flat-screen TV with cable channels. Nice sunny room with a good view. Clean, warm and great location. The Italian restaurant right next to the hotel had great food and service.
Offering an on site restaurant, Hotel Endamo is located in Latacunga. Free WiFi access is available. Rooms include a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom that comes with a shower. Hotel arranged driver to take us to Quilotoa. Don't miss it.
Comfortable rooms with free WiFi are offered in Rodelu Hotel, only a 5-minute walk from Lacatunga downtown area. A daily American breakfast is offered. The Hotel Rodelu was a great hotel. It was in a safe neighborhood and close to the square and the banking district, which meant there were tons of ATMs to use. Also, just a few blocks away was a supermarket. There were tons of restaurantand other shops close-by. The hotel restaurant was fine as well. The breakfast was fresh and the service good. They were also very accomodating because we had an early tour and needed to eat breakfast before the 7:30 AM opening (which is very common for all hotels in Ecuador). The desk manager actually prepared us our breakfast.
Hotel Llactacunga is offering accommodations in Latacunga. Featuring a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with a restaurant. Free WiFi is available. Comfortable beds. Great shower. Good breakfast. Great value.

It is a fairly large town. We visited the closed market which was fascinating. We ate some pork from one of the many food stalls and it was very tasty. Getting around Latacunga was easy . We ate at El Gringo and La Gorda, owned by an Ecuadorian Mauricio who lived in New Orleans for 35 years. The food is mediocre and the attitude of the owner was arrogant and insulting to us when we asked if he had hamburgers. I don't know if we would have gone there if it wasn't on the way to Lake Quilatoa and Cotopaxi Volcano.
There should be only one reason to stay in Latacunga - to do Quilotoa and/or Cotopaxi. The city is so dirty and smells and doesn't feel safe. There is a nice fancy supermarket but that's the only nice thing we found.
From the second I arrived I felt at home. We were welcomed with spiced tea & empanadas in front of a big fireplace. The room was plenty spacious enough & well decorated. The bathroom was clean & the shower was hot & pressure was perfect. The staff was extremely helpful & welcoming. The food was amazing! It was pricey for Ecuador but well worth it. The grounds were well maintained & the views spectacular. Waking up to views of volcanoes & horses out our window was awesome. We hiked one of the trails to a waterfall. We also did a 2 hour horseback ride to try to catch a glimpse of Cotopaxi volcano. It was incredible. I could have stayed forever.
Los Mortiños was a fantastic get away spot for a few days. The location is perfect with a wonderful view of Cotopaxi (when it decides to come out from the clouds)! The owner is very warm and welcoming and a wonderful host. Hot tea greeted us at our arrival and the hacienda building is very charming and well decorated. The wood stoves throughout the building gives it a feeling of home and added warmth as well. The food is delicious.... Though it's not 5 star gourmet, that is not what you want in this kind of setting. The food is like what your mother would make at home for a hearty chilly evening meal. Either way the simplicity of the food is what comforts your belly at 3600m (12000ft)! Don't come here if you just want to watch tv or stare at your phone. First off there are no TVs in the rooms which is perfect as you need to unplug. This is a perfect place to unplug for a few days. The horse riding was peaceful and humbling as you near the volcano. Also the Massage therapist that offers service there is excellent and highly recommended. And to top it all off the llamas on the property are adorable and very tame offering a great photo with Cotopaxi in the distance! We visited recently for a mini honey moon.... And it was the perfect setting to get away and admire the "neck of the moon" (translation of "Cotopaxi") !!! We definitely will come back for more relaxation and solitude.
It was a larger city than what we expected. Many beautiful history buildings and nice parks to visit. Local market is very interesting and a good place to see how local people shop. A good place to stay if one plans to visit the Cotopaxi and Quilotoa.
Excursions, food, decor and most of all the attention and friendliness of the owner were amazing. You also can't be the location as it's right outside the north entrance of the park. If driving to the resort, recommend contacting staff first for directions. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend others stay here when visiting Cotopaxi!
There isn't much out there to do apart from touring Cotopaxi and crashing at a good place nearby. It's just another quaint low key village at the foothills of Cotopaxi.
Amazing days! Traveled with my wife and 2 kids. Horseback riding tô Cotopaxi was unforgettable! Rooms are cozy, comfortable and warm. Restaurant was incredible! Great menu and awesome dishes! After one month aroun Ecuador, I would say that El Porvenir holds the beat value for money in the country!
Good place for visiting Lake Quilotoa and Cotopaxi volcano. There isn't too much else to see in town. Recommend Hotel San Agustin Plaza and El Gringo y La Gorda restaurant.
A good place to stay to see Laguna Quitoloa and Volcan Cotopaxi We found direct bus, Vivero, to Laguna Quitoloa and return, at the local bus station . We stayed at the Hotel Rodelu and ate at the restaurant in the hotel. Taxis were easy and good value to get to hotel from the bus station, and return.

The staff at Rondador Cotopaxi went out of their way to answer my and my partner's questions about Cotopaxi National Park, and were able to organize both a guided and unguided trip for us during our stay. I found everyone I interacted with through the hostel to be nothing but polite, friendly, and helpful. The hostel was quiet during our stay. We stayed in a private room with a very comfortable and clean bed, and a space heater for chillier nights. I would absolutely stay here again.

Mayra (our hostess) was very friendly and helpful. She speaks some English. Very pretty old farm-style home outside of Machachi. Conveniently located to Cotopaxi and Lake Quilotoa. The property has a relaxing setting and a spa. We really enjoyed all of the animals (dogs, horses, goats, llamas, ducks). The food at PapaGayo was very good (but a bit pricey for Ecuador). The common areas are very comfortable and ideal for playing games or reading.

nice hotel at the entrance of the Cotopaxi national park and off the Panamerica, quiet and safe, great surrounding, perfect view on Cotopaxi, excellent breakfast with a variety of options, tasty dinner, kind staff helping upon enquiries, nice oven that keeps the room warm at night, warm shower, comfortable beds with electric blankets (!!!) that keep you warm at night, hairdryer, refillable purified water

Diego & his family were fantastic hosts. We felt more like friends than hotel guests. The breakfast was wonderful & they explained to us how to get to Cotopaxi & ran us to the corner to catch the bus. After we got back they drove us to the autopista to catch a bus to Baños. The bed was comfortable and the place is very clean. They also have an adorable fluffy golden retriever puppy!

- The kids at the front desk speak English better than the staff at any of the other hostels we stayed at while in Ecuador. They were very helpful: telling us how to get to Quilotoa Crater (highly recommend), setting up a guide for Cotopaxi and tellin gus appropriate bus fares (bus agents sometimes try to cheat tourists). - Good water pressure & temperature (a little hard to control)

You can't say enough about the amazing location. We woke up early to hike to Cotopaxi and the staff made us breakfast early and sat us by the big corner window so we could enjoy the sunrise and the views of the volcanos. Everything was spotless and it was the best warm shower we had in months after a rainy but tranquil horseback ride.

Away from hustle and bustle of the city in a farm. Our Rooms looked very new and clean. Not sure if there was AC. Room was got quite cold at night but no problems, there were enough beddings. Better alternative than staying in Latacunga. Cotopaxi is supposed to be viewable from property (it was cloud covered)

Location is perfect, with a beautiful view of cotopaxi and other mountains. Food, room and staff were amazing. This is the best hotel in the region. Other hotels in the region are much inferior in quality and location.

Victor, the owner, was very helpfull! My phone was broken and he went with me to a telephone shop to help me out. He also explained how to get around, how to go to Cotopaxi and Quilitoa loop. Thanks!!

We spent two wonderful days at Hacienda El Rejo, the hacienda has beautiful 360 views of several volcanos, Cotopaxi, Corazon, Illinizas Norte and Sur, Riminahui, Pasochoa, all close by the Hacienda. It’s a great location to explore the surrounding areas, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding or just relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views. The food was fantastic, home cooking by Felipe who studied culinary arts in Italy. The Hacienda has milk cows, horses, free-range chickens, ducks, etc. and Felipe showed us the milking of the cows and gave us a tour of the Hacienda. Prior to our arrival Francisco helped set up a biking tour for my wife and 9 year old daughter through Cotopaxi national park. Besides its beauty and comfort, the personal attention that the hosts Francisco and Felipe provided us during the stay was outstanding.

In a truly historic setting, on a beautifully kept, clean and secluded home, we found ourselves hosted by a truly remarkable family and their staff. The answer to every question was "yes", the food was clean and delicious, honoring our dietary restrictions with ease and care. Our hostess is a wonderful, warm, caring woman, who saw to our every need, in every way, every day!
