Acacia is an excellent hotel. Beautiful room with a balcony. It costs a little more than the standard room, and it is worth it. We needed help to find medical help and the people in the hotel were so helpful. They made us feel at home!! Good breakfast and very good location as well. Highly recommended.

We requested a seaview room for 3 ladies staying toghether. The Tropic Bird room with the extra bed was very spacious, with it's own balcony. A very convenient location with it's own dock, so very easy to get a water taxi ($1) into town. Roof top viewing, so we could wave off our intrepid sailors. Dining room right on the water, breakfast was delicious with at least 3 varied choices. Evening meal was also delicious. An easy walk to La Crevitas. The Finch Bay Resort and small beach is a 5 min walk. The Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Who also organized our assisted transfer to the airport.

Lovely property with a friendly staff. We were only able to stay one night, but the rooms were very comfortable, minimalist, and spacious. The outdoor space was also very inviting. Breakfast was a nice spread and tea, water were available at all hours. We were able to walk to the city center very easily.

The city is beautiful and the people are very nice and respectful of others. I loved the downtown because it stays open at night where we can spend our evenings shopping and dinning after long day trips. There were so many activities that we were not able to fulfill due to time limit. If I come again, I would stay longer than 3 days. During our stay, the weather was perfect. Not worm and not humid. This was above my expectation. One important thing is that you have to bring a lot of cash or use the ATM machine because they charge from 7 to 15% extra if you use credit cards. The city is also expensive.

Puerto Villamil is nice, but very small.

Puerto Villamil is nice, but very small. Depending on the tours you want to have, your stay can be longer or shorter. The wall of tears can be a full day activity. Another day can be spent between la Perla and the beach. For the rest of the time, it's up to how many excursions or days at the beach you want to spend. The beach is great, although sometimes the waves are big. But you can still have sun and get tanned. In general, it's pricier (restaurants for sure) and with less facilites than Santa Cruz. Everything is walkable distance there. I recommend you Tunel Ocean as agency to sort out your tours, they were incredibly helpful and professional.

The town is just the right size.

The town is just the right size. You can walk everywhere easily. Yet, there’s plenty of great restaurants. The people are great. They were very friendly and helpful and really seemed to enjoy telling us about their wonderful island. The lighting at night is really beautiful and after a great dinner you can stroll at night without fear. Really nice. All the sea lions are back at the beach and are so entertaining. We just loved it.

We loved the unrushed, calm feeling around town.

We loved the unrushed, calm feeling around town. There are a few good eateries and some not so good, but all in all there's something for everyone. We were on holiday after an illness so were not looking for excursions, simply a chance to rest and recover and that's what San Cristobal gave us. Would we return? Yes! Although perhaps at an establishment closer to town.

It is pricey for the average “traveller” but for a highlands Galápagos experience a stunning location. For a very short visit to the Galapagos, this was a great place to stay. Great food options, plenty of restaurants and very walkable. You can easily visit an abundance of tour companies and find the best deal and tour options. We had a short time and I was still able to book the night before for the exact tour I wanted. Very safe. Enjoyable animal encounters just walking around the area. Attractive shops and good food.

The port is great with parks, piers and bay views. The interpretation center is also a good place to visit, not only the museum displays but also the hiking to the hills for panoramic views of the ocean, yes, you can see Kicker Rock with naked eyes, but also to the beaches free of guides. Best of all is the 360 tour to fully enjoy the beauties of the island.

A bustling port, providing 'ferries' to the outlying islands, Puerto Ayora offers something for everyone. There are many restaurants and cafes, although sadly some of the chefs did not seem to care how their food was cooked or presented. Nice small cafes/panaderias provided an alternative which we both preferred.
