The location off the main highway, the village and the castle. Mainly the hospitality which was so welcoming and thoughtful. The rooms are beautifully done and the breakfast prepared personally by the owners and served in the shared space was outstanding. We decided last minute to find a location outside of the bigger towns on our way from Madrid to Alicante and picked Alarcon. Wow! It was just pretty and unique and the best experience.

Wonderful place for a relaxing vacation. The children especially liked it, the playground is large and with different areas. Fresh air, which is very good to sleep under. The pool is very clean, well maintained and cleaned regularly. We loved the kittens and chickens, which we and the kids enjoyed feeding.

A delightful city full of magical vistas, countless historic houses and architectural gems. Easy to get around the old town on foot, although there are lots of steps too, so people with reduced mobility could struggle. The tourist info were very helpful in highlighting places of interest and relatively accessible routes for us (husband disabled). They are building some giant escalators to improve access, but work is still ongoing - due for completion by late 2026. We loved the Roberto Polo Foundation - a gem of an art gallery housed in a decommissioned church, plus the abstract art museum in one of the "Hanging Houses". It's worth going in the latter to see the views from the windows, even if modern art is not your thing, and both are free. We had 2 great meals in Restaurante Mangana and Taberna Botes. Both very reasonably priced.

Belmonte was such a beautiful village, with friendly locals and enchanting buildings. Plenty of fantastic restaurants, a Manchego cheese producer and bakeries. Restaurante La Muralla was our favourite. Belmonte castle is very interesting, and because they have a cafe there, you can easily spend half a day. The only downside of Belmonte is the lack of shops, if you're in need of retail therapy, you'll have to drive.

What a gem of a town. One hour by train from Madrid... history and nature at your door step. Stay for at least 3 nights/2 days minimum. Wear shoes with good grips and get ready to walk! Make sure you have lots of space for the hundreds of photos you will take!

We liked the size of the place.

We liked the size of the place. It was just right for us to look around in the time we had. We loved the old charm and the amazing buildings. The cathedral lit up in the evening sunshine and we sat in a beautiful courtyard looking out over wonderful views. The hanging houses were a sight to behold even though I had to walk out onto a scary bridge to get a photograph!
