FAQs about hotels in Cuenca

Castilla La Mancha's Hidden Gem

The fortressed town of Cuenca is a hidden gem in the province of Castilla La Mancha and is a popular destination for tourists visiting Madrid or Valencia.

Cuenca is best represented in its medieval old town as well as the unique Hanging Houses (Las Casas Colgadas) which stand aloft on one of the deep canyons surrounding the city, and show a prime example of the common housing of 15th-century Cuenca.

Upon visiting the Old Town you will be welcomed by the remains of an ancient Arab fortress, El Castillo along with the chiming bells of Mangana Tower.

There is a variety of art galleries and restaurants which are situated in the newer side of town, whilst popular places to see are the Cuenca Cathedral, Museum of Spanish Abstract Art and the Archaeological Museum.

Booking.com offers a wide range of accommodation options near landmarks such as Cuenca train station and Parque de San Julián.

We aboslutely loved Cuenca which combines breathtaking scenery and magnificent buildings. There is also the most wonderful art gallery showing some of Spain's leading abstract artists. I can't pretend that I understood too much of the art on the walls but the way it was displayed and the building it was located in made it a really memorable experience.

A wonderful historical old town set in a stunning landscape. Whether you like museums, historical churches and buildings or walking in a stunning scenery, this city has it all. Also, the historical town centre is small, so that it is easy to walk around and take in all the sights.

Cuenca is definitely worth a visit especially the old town for the history but is very hilly so you need to be fit. You can climb from the town to the bridge to cross into the old town. There are bars and restaurants too and stunning views over the new town. Theres a zip wire at the very top for anyone wanting adventure. There are lots of bars, restaurants and shops in the town centre so not short of somewhere to eat and drink

There are many great restaurants and beautiful sights. It’s relatively small so easy to see most everything in 2-3 days. We stayed 2 days and wished we had one more day to see more and do more hiking

Cuenca is a narrow medieval town built on a ridgeline so expect a lot of climbing and narrow streets. The views are spectacular and there are lots of hiking trails but the parador is isolated on the other side of the gorge with only a rickety iron pedestrian bridge connecting the two.

A delightful city full of magical vistas, countless historic houses and architectural gems. Easy to get around the old town on foot, although there are lots of steps too, so people with reduced mobility could struggle. The tourist info were very helpful in highlighting places of interest and relatively accessible routes for us (husband disabled). They are building some giant escalators to improve access, but work is still ongoing - due for completion by late 2026. We loved the Roberto Polo Foundation - a gem of an art gallery housed in a decommissioned church, plus the abstract art museum in one of the "Hanging Houses". It's worth going in the latter to see the views from the windows, even if modern art is not your thing, and both are free. We had 2 great meals in Restaurante Mangana and Taberna Botes. Both very reasonably priced.

The hotel is exactly in the tourist center of Cuenca. I got the roof room which has an amazing view of the cliff. The room is very clean and spacious. And the hotel owner is very nice and friendly. She recomended several nice and typical places to eat and see around Cuenca.
