The room was spacious and comfortable. The mattress, pillows and bedding were good quality and very luxurious. An amazing shower. The attic window was unique. The breakfast was adequate for what I needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very close to the Knights Templar Castle ruins.

It’s an amazing spot with people that really made our stay special. You are surrounded by nature in a peaceful mountain village. We were able to enjoy an amazing dinner all nights we have stayed there and the food alone deserves a mention. The farm house is restored with a lot of care, and respect for its history, the owners have great taste in music you enjoy while you are having an aperitivo on the patio

The house was very nice. The host was very friendly and welcoming. She took care of us as if we were friends or related. Gave us very nice suggestions for places to visit, to eat, to rest. We enjoyed being there. Las Médulas is an amazing heritage spot, and this was the right place to stay.

Nice hotel, located close to the center. Friendly staff. The windows keep away the noise from the street and the Café below. Thankfully the hotel offers a garage, with medium-difficult entrance and medium-difficult space for steering into the reserved parking space

Amazing welcome by kind and helpful staff! Friendly staff member was able to explain a slightly unusual system (there is no reception, all staff contact via intercom) given i arrived on foot and don't speak Spanish, every effort was made to welcome and host.

This is as near to staying in a palace as it is possible to get. The views over the vineyards and on to the mountains is breath taking. The food is excellent - as is (not surprisingly) the wine.

Ponferrada seems a really nice city.

Ponferrada seems a really nice city. We didn’t get time to visit the castle or cathedral but our friend did and she said both are really great and well worth a visit. Loads of restaurants and places to eat.

Our contact at the hotel was fantastic.

Our contact at the hotel was fantastic. There was a possibility we wouldn’t arrive until 1am , she said no problem just phone her and she will come and let us in. We made it by 9pm were greeted with a smile. This is a perfect hotel , very clean , with a great host. I would recommend it to anyone .

Very clean and comfortable stay.

Very clean and comfortable stay. Felt like we had our own private apartment. We were able to cook and wash our clothes. Host was very nice and responsive. Came over right away when the hot water was not going and fixed it. Would have loved to stay longer and definitely recommend.

Great place to stay if you are doing the Camino. Restaurant food was ok staff friendly The room said includes washing machine but you had to pay for washing machine it was not included We had a balcony but we were behind the street rooms so it was a bit unusual We had a 30 degree day by the river which was relaxing

A simple mountain settlement with two rustic hotels.

A simple mountain settlement with two rustic hotels. Near an impressive mirador view over an amazing ancient Roman gold mining site. Perfect for an overnight stop on our road trip across northwestern Spain and north Portugal, that took us off the more familiar tourist track. From Orellan we travelled to Oviedo, taking us through some very impressive mountain scenery.

We stayed in a private room with bathroom with balcony it was a nice room but no wardrobe hangers were available in an alcove area The communal kitchen was ok with minimal utensils but did have outside area too with a bar area which was great as the weather was perfect. Great view of the castle and at night when all lit up looked amazing. Some pilgrims partied til after 11 pm and noise carried Overall a great place to sleep over on the Camino

I loved the City it was clean and well maintained.

I loved the City it was clean and well maintained. I got lost and a kind Spanish man helped me get back on the Camino. This man walked with me for 4 kilometres until we found the Camino TRAIL. Ponferrada the City should mark the Camino trail better than they have. Even signage within the city saying “Camino that way. A few other city residents did not have a clue on how to get back to the Camino. The Knights Templar Castle was a sight to see.

The town is full of historic buildings and sites, and the surrounding area is stunning and interesting. Being a significant stop on the El Camino Santigo adds to vibrancy. The viticulture and grape industry is beautiful in the surrounding region, and in a very short distance you can be lost in a myriad of very old rural villages.

Molinaseca is a lively town.

Molinaseca is a lively town. A lot of excellent restaurants, bars and hostels. Mountains and a river surround it. Through a nice track, 3 km away, there are two Roman bridges. It's nice for a morning walk. I saw 2 deers this morning.

Cacabelos is a medieval village, surrounded by wineries.

Cacabelos is a medieval village, surrounded by wineries. It is situated some 7 kms from Ponferrada and exactly on the pilgrim road to Santiago de Compostela. The village offers a lot of facilities, shops etc. I stayed in Hotel Villa de Cacabelos. Good !
