LithuaniaWhen we chose the hotel, we knew where we were going from Barcelona. It is a wonderful village and natural area, where you will rarely meet a tourist. In October, everything is green, warm, cozy. The hotel is perfectly built in the very center of the old town, next to a very old church. There are no views of the mountains from the window. We spent a few days alone in the hotel. we were able to use the halls, make coffee. Very neat and weighty. Next time we will go only here.

Ca L'Estamenya was one of the most amazing places we stayed for a European holiday. A true gem tucked away in the village Perafita which is beautifully located in the hilly countryside with plenty of walks and hikes, or bicycle routes. We are road cyclists and loved cycling there as the temperatures are milder than on the coast. You can also rent (e)mountainbikes in Ca L'Estamenya. But if you just want to relax, sleep, eat, swim in a breathtaking and tastefully designed place, this is where you want to be!
Beneath the hotel/apartments is a bakery where you can have your morning coffee and breakfast if you like, and where you can buy local specialities. The ladies who work there are more than friendly and make you feel like family. As does the owner of Ca L'Estamenya, Elizabet, who makes sure you are having the best time ever and immediately invited us to join a yoga class and wine tasting where we were the only foreigners :) my Catalan improved rapidly!
In the small and quaint village there is a small grocery syore, a butcher and two restaurants, so you really don't need to move around. But if you like exploring, that's an option too.
We were very sad to leave and will definitely return, highly recommend!

Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the garden and hills. Huge , very comfy bed. Good sized bathroom, well equipped and everything working . The staff were all lovely.
Dinner was very good , the paella especially. Food and drinks were really reasonable, with a fire going for barbecue stuff. It is pretty remote, but that was no problem for us.

The hotel is in a remote location high in the mountains overlooking a large lake. Large, well equipped room with a balcony that gave you a fantastic view over the surrounding mountains. The restaurant delivered excellent dinners and the biggest breakfast buffet we had ever seen. Excellent walking country. Really enjoyed our first stay in a Parador.

The building is historical and it looks like very well furnished castle, it is much more comfortable though. The food is splendid with varieties to choose from in a bufet, to freshly squeezed juice in the morning. Location is very quiet on the border of a town so you can have endless walks around.

Rupit is tiny.
Rupit is tiny. One main street which is wide enough for one car. Herein lies its charm, which exceeded my expectations. This may be the tiniest village I have ever stayed in. Had we more time, we would have gone on some of the hiking trails. Sadly, we only had one night.

On the front desk of the parador there was a leaflet showing the fiesta events in Tavèrnoles. We really enjoyed seeing the village, the crafts and meeting some lovely people and children. We enjoyed freshly roasted chestnuts, cheese , meats. A very talented lady demonstrated medieval instruments.

Vic is a beautiful old town and well worth exploring.
Vic is a beautiful old town and well worth exploring. Make sure you explore the old town in particular. The Plaza Major is wonderful. The Cathedral and other churches are well worth visiting but shut for much of the afternoon, as do the shops, because of siesta. So time your visit carefully!

Rupit is a rustic & beautiful village, with cobbled streets and staircases, abd surrounded by natural beauty. The people are very kind & friendly. The restaurants and the couple of local shops are pretty. The hiking trails are lovely.
We did a lovely walk to & along the stream downstairs after crossing the foot over bridge. We hiked up to the hermitage. The entire walk was pretty, very green, dotted with small flowers. We spotted many butterflies, too.

the area is great - very beautiful location - be prepared for a 10 mile or so trip back to Vic if you need something - to avoid the hotel food prices, we found a grocery store for snacks, breakfast and sandwiches.

In our short stay we enjoyed popular central square surrounded with lots of cafes, restaurants and shops and a market on Saturday. We found the people very friendly and helpful. Food and drink was reasonably priced and excellent quality. We had a short stay, given more time there is a lot of history to discover and places to visit.

Quaint medieval village nestled in the rolling hills of...
Quaint medieval village nestled in the rolling hills of Catalunya. They do not allow visitor automobile traffic in the village. You must park in a public parking lot for 3EURO per day and walk in to the village. It was about a 5 min walk from the parking lot to the hotel we stayed at and would recommend, Hotel Hostal Estrella. I would NOT recommend Rupit for anyone who has mobility issues. There is a bit of walking to get to the hotel and there are plenty of inclines to pass over while you walk around the village. But if you enjoy walking, it is the place for you. The village offers a glimpse of a typical medieval village in northern Spain. They light up the major sights, the church, the castle ruins, etc during the evenings, so it is very picturesque. It is also great as a base for hiking. They have a trail leading from the town center to a waterfall and a beautiful valley that takes only about 2 hours from start to finish. And from the village there are other beautiful villages to explore about 20-30 mins drive.
