We were only there 1 night, but has dinner and breakfast. Both meals were the best. Our family rank the meals, rooms, restrooms and staff. The meals at the Allanton stayed at the top of our list the whole trip. If you are looking to get away in a nice cozy atmosphere with service and food. Allanton is the place for you.

I really appreciate your attention to reducing the carbon footprint of a hotel -- I liked having glass glasses in the room, real cups, very little plastic or one-time use plastic. The breakfast was outstanding and the wait staff, especially Alex in the dining room, were attentive and helpful. Wonderful location, wonderful view, excellent trip !

Eyemouth is a beautiful sea port, with wonderful coastal walks and scenery to satisfy photographers and artists alike. There are first class restaurants and public houses. My wife and I have our daughter and four grandson's are living in Eyemouth. Sadly their home is full and hence we needed alternative arrangements. Having visited several establishments, what a revelation The Glenerne Guest House is.

Duns is well positioned in the middle of rural Berwickshire, not far from the sea, the hills ( Lammermuirs and Cheviots ) and many well known beauty spots, Abbeys and places of interest. It houses the Jim Clark Museum. He, along with Duns Scotus have put Duns on the map.

Selkirk is not particularly special but it is perfectly located to visit a myriad of interesting places, the most special being the Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels. A must see, in my view even better than the Bayeux Tapestry. Melrose, Floors Castle, Peebles and many beautiful gardens are all nearby. Easy access to Edinburgh by road or train. 90 minutes to the wonderful Dumfries House.
