Trip was preplaned . We love London, this trip we were on our own. Our first trip to London was on a tour of England and Scotland. We learned to use the underground and rail systems. Our favorite place to eat is Stephens Pub across the Westminster bridge opposite Big Ben. London has so much to offer.
Slough is yet another melting pot for nationalities living in England. The foods of the world bring people together as do the shopping malls. It is a road connection to go far & wide. Nearby is Windsor with its famous Castle & the Thames river Legoland not far off just a bus ride away. Eton College is almost under the castle walls- just across the bridge. Here all is old England conservation with a different type of shopping & people. Neither place is typical English Middle class but each represents its own kind of modern yet old style England. As Londoners say "you pays your money & you makes your choice" London is easily accessable from Slough by train.
We took the London Tour to visit Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath for a full day trip for £104.00 each and the guide Pete gave us a good history lesson on England from King William era to Queen Victoria era. But nothing can take away the awesome memory of walking into Windsor Castle seeing the royal lifestyle or the phenomenon of how huge blocks of stones can be stacked up with no glue or nail to hold it together, how did the people hinged it up?...who are these people?? So fascinating...Wonderful sights with the beautiful quaint city of Bath...the delicious Cornish pastries at Bath.
My absolutely favourite city in England. It’s simply magical - I could spend days just wondering around the cobble stoned streets, walking the walls or walking along the river. There are lots of great restaurants too and lovely little shops.
The UK's best shopping.lots of history of you walk around the back streets.very diverse restaurants and in the centre of the most scenic countryside in England
Great audio guide provided to explain all the sights in and around the castle. The staff were very helpful getting you in and going around. Good spot to see if you appreciate history and want to learn about the kings and queens of England.
In my opinion, Leeds is one of the best cities in England. It has a superb array of designer and independent shops, great restaurants and fantastic nightlife. It is a busy and vibrant city, with new bars, cafés and restaurants always opening. Leeds also one of the best live music scenes in the North, from Indie to Jazz to World music, there are gigs to suit everybody. I recommend visiting Briggate and the Victoria Quarter for your designer fashion needs, and take a trip up some of the side streets for the indie shops. You are never far away from great bars or restaurants in Leeds, so you can wander to any part of the centre and you’ll find somewhere great. For a bit more culture, visit the Royal Armouries Museum which is only a short walk out of the centre and visit Leeds Art Gallery right next to the town hall. If you’re travelling there by car be warned! The ring road system is the city centre is ludicrously designed so that if you miss your desired turning you have to loop all the way back round the city again! As you can imagine this is very fruatrating, and is only thing I dislike about Leeds. As to be expected, the morning and tea time rush hour traffic is pretty hectic.
I lived in England many years ago and now go back at least once a year. London is one of my favorite cities in the world. Also note for vegan travelers London is rising up to be one of the most awesome destinations for plant-based dining.
The SS Great Britain and the adjacent - included in your admission - museums are a must see. The ship is a stunning piece of living history, lovingly restored and interpreted to please the whole family. Brunel is a fascinating character any way you approach him. Walk the Clifton suspension bridge and imagine hanging over that awesome gorge in a basket as he did! Clifton is the place to stay, scenic walks, pubs, cafes, shops, charming rows of mansions, gardens around every corner and (when the sun is shininhg) massive views. Nobody does "slightly upscale but down-to-earth" better than the Brits. Clifton is simultaneously homey and cool. The GWR is not to be missed. This is a beautiful part of England and the trains allow you to relax and enjoy the countryside. I found the transit systems blessedly user-friendly; but if you're ever confused, just ask your question in the general direction of the nearest human being and you will promptly have all the answers you ever required and more. Love the Brits! Love'em!
Salisbury is an excellent location in southern England. It is close to Stonehenge, Bath, Portsmouth, and additionally has a wonderful Cathedral with Magna Carta.

Because this was our first experience with driving in England (we are from the U.S.), we wanted to stay in a hotel that was just outside of the center of St. Ives with included parking. The four-hour plus drive from Portsmouth had me a bit frazzled but when we walked into the hotel lobby I immediately relaxed. The staff was welcoming and willing to assist us in any way. The walk down to town is pretty steep in places but a beautiful stroll through the woods. The room we had for the three of us had plenty of space with comfortable beds.

located at Penny Lane, used to be a bank - the bank in the song and the barber shop a few doors up. Walk down Penny Lane. Breakfast was good, staff very friendly and helpful. Bus from LIverpool central (86 bus) to hotel was convenient after visiting the Cavern Club, street parking in back street without fee. Decorated with Beatles memorabilia and Beatles music constantly in background. Ian Doyle Beatles tour pick up from hotel - recommended by hotel staff and it was excellent. Best value for money accommodation on our England travels.

Great location on tip of peninsula. Our room on the top floor had views of both the river and the bay. Room was spacious, elegantly appointed, and there was lots of coffee and milk. The owner and his wife are super friendly, and gave us excellent recommendations for food and walks. The recommended pub was the best we went to in England this trip. The walk they recommended to Nothe Fort was an easy climb to a great viewpoint. Would recommend the hotel very very highly.

Excellent staff! They really went above and beyond. Also very friendly, literally everyone working there. Tom was the coolest though. Boutique hotel so pretty much check in at a bar. Excellent view of the River Ouse. Lot of personality. VERY well located, minutes to some of the best history in northern England! They had a decent TV, very clean room. Nice modern remodel on the bathroom etc. I enjoyed staying here.

The hotel had air conditioning which was a real bonus in England! Also, the rooms were really soundproofed which was helpful...there was a bachelorette party next door and it didn't bother us at all. Very good location -- close to Albert Dock, The Beatles Story and Liverpool One, a fabulous shopping and restaurant area. As well as St. Mathew St, home of The Beatles' first performance venue, The Cavern.

The location of this hotel is brilliant. The River Avon and the Roman Bath's are almost right outside your door. The breakfast was nice. You can order something hot off of their menu, or you can choose from pastries and fruit. Bath is a beautiful city, and is one that should not be missed on your next trip to England. I have included a photo that was the view from our hotel room at sunrise.

The staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure amazing service. Nicest staff members at a hotel I’ve ever encountered. Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms and restaurant, and the location is close to lots of great restaurants, bars, transit options, and a shopping mall with even MORE options! For my first time in England, I was so happy with my choice to stay here.

The hotel has an old-world air in the lobby, hall and elevators, but my room was clearly modernized. The room air conditioner worked well despite unusually warm weather (a rare experience in my travels in England.) Very comfortable bed and plenty of outlets. Great location, particularly for those arriving by train. Very quiet so great soundproofing. .

The Hotel, the location and staff were all excellent, The weather could have been better, but you don't choose to holiday in England for the weather! Its always great to find a dog friendly hotel that doesn't compromise on standards in rooms because you want to take your loved one with you. We would definitely return

The breakfast was very good. The location was within walking distance of town, near a laundromat and small store, and on the bus line. I don't expect an elevator and air conditioning at a B&B in England, of course, but in this case I wish I had booked a hotel with those features so we could have enjoyed Oxford more.
8.8 Excellent 819 reviews
The hotel went out of their way to make sure my room was air conditioned...most rooms in England, most hotels in fact are not outfitted with AC. Usually not a problem, however the current heat wave in Europe is putting that to the test. The hotels was well situated a close walk to everything.

After driving through England, we used this hotel for our last night's stay since it is a fairly short drive to Heathrow Airport. We enjoyed the room and the breakfast. It is a beautiful rural property, but it is historic and you have to enjoy the quirks that come with such places.

A great view of the lake from the room on 2nd floor. A good location in Ambleside to explore the Lake District area - John Ruskin's house - Brantwood and other interesting places. The dinner at the Regent Hotel restaurant was one of the best meals during the England trip.

the one thing I need to say, once you stay at Staybridge Suites in Liverpool England and then go to any other hotel which we did after in London you realize how spoiled we were not having the things we had in Staybridge. Can't say enough about this fantastic place.

Being on the Avon River was fabulous. It was a little challenging to find but so worth it. The view is absolutely terrific. The hotel staff is exceptional but that was true everywhere during two weeks in England.
