St Peter Port

One of 701 reviews:
"St.Peter Port : Pleasant little town with lots of lovely independent shops to browse around, and a good choice of restaurants and bars - although a lot were closed (maybe due to Bank Holiday weekend?) & some only opened when a cruise ship had docked!! Fantastic bus service to all parts of the island - cheap & frequent service, with friendly drivers. Can recommend Christie's & Otto's & The Ship and Crown for great food, plus Crepe Maison for pancakes!! Plus The Rockmount in Cobo Bay after a long walk along the coastline!! A must see is The Little Chapel; history lovers must visit the German Occupation Museum."

"Beaches are wonderful and their is a very good bus service to St Peter Port and to other attractions and beaches around the area. It is a lovely area to visit but don't rely on and active nightlife because you don't visit for that reason!"

"St Martin is a beautiful area. Really good bus services across the island or would recommend e-bikes for getting around (helpful for getting up the steep slopes from the bays!) I wouldn’t recommend driving - Some very small rural lanes and lack of parking at points of interest."

"My favourite places are Candie Gardens and the Priaulx Library where the staff were very helpful. I ate at the hotel and also the bathing pool where the new 'cafe' is lovely and also had a meal at the Imperial Hotel where the food was also excellent (possibly a little more pricey but worth it). St Peter Port is very easy to get around on foot - i would avoid using a vehicle due to the parking. It's far easier, if you're not in walking distance, to just get the bus."

"The hotel is actually in Chantel and not King's Mills. It is a short walk to Cobo Bay which was lovely. There are several bus routes available to get around the island. There are several beautiful bays around the island, white sand, crystal water, peace and quiet."

My daughter visited Geurnsey during Christmas 2025 and fell in love with the island. Therefor I decided to go and experience it by myself brining my youngste on 13 years old. We decided to stay at the same hotel. We travel quite a lot so I have a lot of references, however this hotel has so many things to offer. Very serviceminded and nice staff. Extremely good breakfast where you order every morning from a menu card, excelent rooms and they listen to your needs. Last hotel we visited was the Marrols in Bartislava. A 5+ hotel, but my youngeste thought this was far better. Unfortunately my husband couldn't come this time, but I will definatly come back, not just for Geurnsey, but for the hotel. Highly recommend

FAQs about hotels on Guernsey

Enchanting Island of Unspoilt Nature

The 2nd largest Channel Island, Guernsey has a rugged coastline, unspoilt countryside and secluded beaches. Although a dependency of Britain, its proximity to Normandy’s shores means that it has a distinct French feel.

Home to the greatest number of Guernsey hotels, St Peter Port – the island’s capital – is the arrival point for ferries from England, France and the other Channel Islands. Looking back at the multi-coloured buildings across the harbour is Castle Cornet, protectively guarding the town.

Just south is beautiful Fermain Bay whose sand and pebble beach is sheltered by tree-covered cliffs. Neighbouring St Martin’s parish has a couple of Guernsey hotels with swimming pools, by the coast and inland. West is St Saviour parish where Guernsey Airport is located.

In the north the coastline is flatter and the beaches longer. Once such beach is at Cobo Bay in Castel parish, where long swathes of sand are lined by a sea wall. Vale to the east has a castle perched precariously on the cliff edge.

Booking.com has an excellent selection of guest houses and hotels in Guernsey, an island small enough to be explored in one trip. Whilst you’re travelling around, look out for the brown-and-white Guernsey cows, and the bright blue post boxes and telephone boxes.

Everything was excellent. The location directly at the amazingly beautiful Cobo beach is just perfect. My room was huge, spotlessly clean and with a very comfortable bed. The staff are all very friendly and remember the little things like how you prefer your breakfast. The food at the restaurant is very good. And again, all the staff are very friendly and attentive. For example, I always get rid of the paper straws in my drinks, because I hate that soaking paper in my drinks. I didn‘t say a word about it, but from the second drink onwards I was always the only one who got drinks without a straw in it. It is a only a little detail , but to me that kind of service is the mark of a really good hotel/restaurant.

St Martin has a couple of pubs / restaurants and a few shops for essentials but is not, in itself, a location where you would find much to do. It is ideal as a base for walking or for touring the island if you have a car or bike. St Peter Port, nearby, is a busy town.

Like the quietness of the Vale, away from the town centre, tucked away at the end of the island. I love the location of the peninsula hotel facing the ocean, the sun rise is amazing in the early hours of the morning all golden really beautiful. Going to the town centre you need a bus , it runs hourly week day and 2hourly week end. Taxis are hard to come bye and expensive, book with the hotel 24rs pre. The food in the hotel is nice but a bit pricey you don't really have much choice no nearby restaurants.

Good location to explore island as nice and quiet but attractions nearby. Imperial hotel and Taste of India good for food. Guernsey Pearl and the Himalayan Cafe must be visited for shopping and good food. Beaches very close by - but not close enough to walk if got small people. Honesty boxes nearby for vegetables and fudge! History of WWII and the occupation of the island very interesting to explore - forts, underground hospital and other bunkers.

St Peter Port is an attractive town not over busy and with good bus connections to all parts of the island. It is hilly which adds to its attraction but is a challenge to the legs and heart. There are good restaurants across the island but there is not an awful lot to do, especially if the weather is wet.
