The view from the studio room I stayed in was amazing. I got a good night's sleep on that nice firm memory foam mattress. The staff were super helpful and friendly, the food was delicious - I highly recommend the lasagne and the breakfast buffet was excellent - two colleagues joined me to eat here even though their hotels served breakfast. I left feeling a different person than I went in - it was very comfortable and relaxing despite the fact I was so busy! Definitely highly recommend.

This small town was very quaint and what you would imagine as a typical English setting in the Cotswold hills. Northleach has a lovely ambience and is quiet and idyllic. It exhumes peace and quiet, has a beautiful little square with the essentials covered and the church is a marvellous setting to compliment the rest of Northleach. It was an ideal prelude and introduction to the area before we went to Bourton-on-the-Water the next day which is one of the most beautiful places I've visited, certainly in England. If you want a place to escape the hussle and bussle then Northleach and the surrounding area and towns are there to enjoy. This was our first visit to the Cotswolds and we will definitely return to explore it further.
A busy little town, upper and lower, with interesting places/buildings to see and plenty of little shops to potter in. Some steep streets but the cliff railway provides access up and down between the two halves of the town if required. Fabulous views over the river and countryside, pretty castle gardens and of course the Severn Valley Railway station with wonderful train rides to more pretty places through beautiful countryside. Love this part of England!
We stayed at the Milford Arms, Isleworth. Perfect location for Twickenham Rugby and lots of fellow England supporters staying too. Will book again next Rugby game. Very friendly local pub
Having lived in York (prior to retiring to Wales) for 9 years, we have come to know this absolute gem of a City very well. Indeed, far, better than locals who have lived here all of their lives! It is a City which has been occupied, continuously, for 2000 years. Most wonderfully of all, this history is all around you (in the Old City), to see and touch. I love showing friends and family around York, to share with them, what we have learned. I must stop here, or risk writing about specifics, which are simply endless. It is true, what one bygone monarch stated, that; 'The history of England, is to be found in York!'
It was really terrible experience. From the moment I walked in I wanted to leave. Wi-fi didn’t work, floors were disgusting and the pub almost resembled a scene from “This is England”. I couldn’t wait to leave!
This area is in desperate need of Government Investment as it’s is a deprived area of England in my opinion. It’s a shame as the people are very friendly.
Our short break was specifically for Lionel Ritchie concert, but from our walks from North Bay to South Bay we are sure we will return. Unfortunately, like many other UK seaside resorts, money needs to be spent on updating. Watch England game I a very friendly pub near The Grand, cannot remember name, but they had scaffolding up. Served excellent pork pies, sausage rolls & scotch eggs at 1/2 time - magic!
Historical - Joseph Priestly who discoverd "oxygen" lived in cottage by river. More village than town ameneties.Local library. Tea/Coffe houses a few independant shops and hair boutiques.1× Indian restraunt, some take aways, chemist, newsagents. Shut for 5.39. A small supermarket later opening. Good location for Chippenham, Swindon and Avebury - is a Neolithic henge monument containing three stone circles, around the village of Avebury in Wiltshire, like Stonhenge, in southwest England. One of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain, it contains the largest megalithic stone circle in the world.
Great mixing with visitors in bars from America etc watching England in the World Cup. Weather was great, so made walking and exploring better. Great food and pubs about. Hyde park and royal Albert Hall were superb.
It's close to Heathrow airport and Hounslow central tube station is a five minute walk from the hotel. The area is nice and road access from south east England is good without getting caught up in traffic. It's about 45 minutes on the tube to central London.
4 mins from the pier and can be in town center within 10 mins. Located right on the seafront so i was ready for a bracing walk each day along the front and then into town. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice and served quickly at the table. My room was clean and tidy and bright with ensuite shower and toilet. Adequate for my needs and bed was a bit small for me but mattress comfortable. The price was excellent although eaqrly in the season and hotel pretty much full. Hard working family run and i willgo back on my next trip to England.
The breakfast was very good. Besides the traditional English breakfast, there were also croissants and warm pastries. This is perfect for those who prefer continental breakfasts. There was a variety of jams, perfectly portioned in small jars for sustainability and climate protection. ( I would love it if this direction was strengthened.) The shower had good water pressure, unlike many in other hotels in England. The staff were friendly and even offered help with carrying luggage. All in all, if we are in the area, we will be back.
The Cathedral Lodge was a fantastic choice for our one-day trip to Canterbury. The location is perfect and the breakfast was well above our expectations. The tickets to the cathedral were also included in the room price, so are discounts in many restaurants across the town - which were not even advertised when we booked. Tourists who are like us on a budget should really check out this place. It was the best hotel choice we made during our trip around Southern England. Great value! Excellent service!
I need to call Booking.com because I chose not to stay once I saw the room. The accommodations were like a Motel 6 in the states. Not at all what I expect from a hotel in England. A Premiere Inn would be nicer than this. This was my only booking that truly let me down. After seeing the room, I immediately checked out. I was there for maybe 10 minutes, and got no refund. They said because I booked through Booking.com they could not refund me. Would not stay. Will not return.
You get a warm welcome at the Union Hotel. The building itself is fascinating with great history. This was the first place in England where the outcome of the Battle of Trafalgar was announced! Our room was furnished with antiques and not only contained a TV but also a settee from which we could watch it. The shower-room was spotless. The shower itself was spacious and the inclusion of a rubber slip mat much appreciated. Breakfast was very good and served very promptly.
Absolutely everything else. The girl who walked us to our room was so sweet and helpful. The shared outside stairs and place smelled fresh of paint or remodeling. Our apartment was perfect! Loved that it had a full function kitchen and kitchenware needed for cooking! The bed was so comfy and it was very large! Big flat screen TV was perfect for watching the England game! We won't ever stay anywhere else since finding this place! We'll be longterm customers!
Durham
Very friendly and helpful staff. Our group of six were going to an England cricket match in nearby Chester-le-Street but we were late arriving at the hotel. The reception staff checked us in very quickly and ordered a taxi that took us to the cricket ground on time. The guest house was exceptionally clean. Our rooms were spacious and with comfy beds. The dining room was pleasant, and the cooked breakfast was very tasty and went down well.
We have stayed at the Haven many times over the past 20 years. Primarily because of the location. It commands arguably the best postion of any 4 star hotel in the South of England. The vista is abslutely stunning. The swimming pool is set a contant warm temperature. So you can pleasanty bathe even when the air temperature is chilly. Food service is excellent once you have familiarised with the with the ordering systems.
endless support and fantastic treatment from Moh’d the manager friendly staff very nice breakfast clean close to train station and city center I would like to thank Moh’d for his kind and special treatment providing light snacks as breakfast to take away with us as we had to check out 3 am to catch flight so thank you so much and definitely inshallah coming back to Macdonald Hotels either in England or Scotland
Kemptown, Brighton & Hove
everything about this boutique hotel is amazing. I’ve never seen staff so personable, friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile. They helped us get our luggage downstairs to our room, recommended restaurants, served a great breakfast and more. our room was very comfortable as were the beds. in a month of staying in hotels in England, both large and small, this was by far my favorite.
The location is unbelievable. We always sit at the garden pavilion and to have it right outside the door was amazing. Central location to North Laines, Lanes and everything else. Simple 15 min walk to Brighton Station or the Pier. The apartment is beautiful. Split bedrooms for privacy, great kitchen, bathroom and sitting room. Only place we have ever stayed in England with air and heat.
Comfy, centrally located, with very reactive and responsive staff. The room was small but well furnished, with some charm and vintage chic. The breakfast was absolutely fabulous, the best I’ve had in England so far. I had booked a room at the rear of the hotel, and could not enjoy the magic view on the sea. If I come back to Penzance, I would definitely return to this hotel.
Location is absolutely amazing . Totally quiet and almost completely away from anything. Sound of nothing , quiet all around plus most beautiful views in England . Hotel itself is very clean and cosy . Plenty of hot water and beautiful bed. Decor you might like or not but still ok , not tired or dirty . Sweet place in general , not very posh but still £200 a night not £500
very warm and surprisingly welcome . I had noted to the hotel that I with my fiancé Hanna visit Nottingham and she is visiting England for the first time , and the hotel surprised us with very nice and romantic room designed without extra charge . Also , quiet area , access to the public buses easily and near to city centre and good size of the room .
I oliked the Polish receptionis who helped me out buying a national coach ticket when there was a train strike, She did a very simple proceedure I paid her cash and got a ticket the price of an English POizza or 2 Australian oizza and yet the male staff member did not offer, So long live Polish workers in hotels in England
Friendliness and efficiency of all the staff. Very clean, food excellent. They even went over and above to put the England World Cup game on for all staying at the hotel with a half time burger and chips with a drink for a nominal fee. The location is excellent, right in the town centre and near bars and restaurants.
Location close to the Cruise Terminal was great. Southampton is a major cruise port in Southern England. The bed was comfortable. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was just okay. It's a bar/cafe combo without much variety. Staff handled an issue with the room well (and seemed embarrassed as well).
Tasty complimentary coffee. Staff very helpful, thank you especially to Michael, who ordered a taxi from the train station and organised a takeaway for our first night. James and Ollie was also helpful and friendly…Would definitely return to this hotel. Having a bar with the England match on was a bonus
It's at a nice spot in Hull and the room was pleasant. It has good airconditioning, which is hardly a given in England, but if like me you are there on a hot day, you'll welcome it. The hotel may be a bit "what you see is what you get", but that's fine for a budget hotel.
Our family stayed here during our family trip to England. The location is terrific! The rooms are clean and functional, and the beds are perfect. Although we did not eat at the restaurant (my daughters fault) I did get a delicious free sample of the sights and smells coming from the kitchen.
