FAQs about hotels in England

The Small Country with Big Appeal

For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.

Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.

Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.

With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

Such a friendly, helping and lovely staff at Avon Hotel. They helped us with everyting we needed, city instructions,Oyster cards, socket adapter, taxi for the airport.I felt so sorry I didnt had the chance to say goodbay with a big hug because of the early hour we left.I recomand Avon Hotel,it is closed to eveeything,15- 20 min to anywhere you wished to go.The Paddington station is 3 min walk.We only used the undergound and not the bus.The Hyde Park is 5- 10 min walk and it is amazing to visit. We basically walked from Hyde Park to Victoria station. The breakfast was also very good and tasty, with coffee, orange juice, tea, fruits. In London it is not easy to find a hotel which offers also breakfast, therefore for this location is a plus and it is something what we were looking for when choosing the hotel.Highly recomomend Avon Hotel!

I loved that everything was within walking distance .

I loved that everything was within walking distance . In 2 days we visited a west End show . The Savoy hotel . Big Ben and surrounding area . Covent Garden market. Trafalga Square . The Strand . Shopping . Every shop available to you including designer departments . Our first time here in London but will not be our last. So much to still experience and visit . Thoroughly enjoyable . Would book a longer stay . I recommend Westminster Borough . 👍💯😊.

I and my family had a great positive experience, we would have stay for long, but we need to resume work immediately, precisely 28th August. Everything we needed was put in place before we even got there. A fast and reliable customer service, a quality breakfast, their facilities is a top notch. And it’s a city center, we visited few mall, I love it in city suite Manchester

Great city to visit.

Great city to visit. Places we recommend (which are a little bit different): - Williamson Tunnels Heritage Centre; - St James Memorial Cemetery (bgl behind Liverpool Cathedral); - The Docks (great for a good walk and so much history); - St Luke’s Bombed Out Church; - Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, both outside and inside (use of natural light is truly astounding); For food: Down the Hatch (vegan but great for those who are dairy free); El Gato Negro Tapas (great food and good size portions); The Vibe (vegan cafe with additional gluten free cakes) For drinks: Azvex Brewery and Taproom; The Swan (rock bar) Diego's Demise (indie/ rock bar) K1 Metal Club Special mention to The Slaughter House, just for the name, but music was pop and clientele hen parties. Good for a photo outside.

Since pedestrianisation, York is pleasant to stroll around.

Since pedestrianisation, York is pleasant to stroll around. When cars were everywhere it was impossible to pass so many groups of tourists and unpleasant walking. Not any more. On the whole buildings are very well cared for and businesses surviving (not too many empty shops). There is a lot to see and all of great interest. And a walk around the walls is well worth while. The Minster is a must - you won't regret the expensive entry fee. But the best thing to do is quite free - (apart from buying the book) explore the snickleways of York. An incredible experience, something you can easily make fun for the kids, and with tremendous views. The Minster Refectory is our favourite place to eat, and there are numerous good pubs full of character - you can't go wrong.

A few alright places to visit but I didn't like it much for travel purposes. There is nothing special to visit. London has better museums and art galleries and other things to do. At least small towns have their own charm. Birmingham send long roads and tall buildings.

Great location.

Great location. Easy commute to the terminal 4 via link bridge. Easy access to railway. Good breakfast spread but a live omelette station would have made it even better. Was there one? probably I missed it.The view from the room could be better. It felt like looking straight into an abyss. There are probably rooms with better view, but I didn't think to ask for a change.
