Location for the Philharmonic Hall - just across the road. Good eateries and pubs nearby - abit out of town but in a great quiet location and very handy for what we wanted . Would stay again. Very comfy small hotel, spotless and friendly staff. Just ten minutes walk into the centre. Arrived from Lime Street Station and ten minutes to hotel to store our bags as too early for check in. Quirky student area and very close to Catholic Cathedral which is worth a visit.

FAQs about hotels in England

The Small Country with Big Appeal

For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.

Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.

Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.

With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

The hotel is in a very good location, near the beach and the promenade, with a building rich in history. The architecture and history are beautiful. It used to be luxurious, and that's still noticeable. Our room was on the 5th floor. Comfortable bed, renovated bathroom, dry, and clean. I especially want to mention the staff. My son got sick with a high fever, and we needed a late checkout at 5 p.m. They accommodated us without charging for an extra night and allowed us to stay for a very symbolic additional fee. We definitely want to come back.

London is a marvelous city to visit.

London is a marvelous city to visit. The train/tube and the busses are easy to navigate with the app to get around the city to all locations. There are plenty of restaurants and shops from high to low end to choose from in just about any location in London. The food is of quality and delicious and the restaurant staff employees are friendly and welcoming. So many restaurants to choose from with ethnic foods. With a city as large and as old as London with thousands of people and tourist we were amazed at how clean the city is kept. At no time did we feel unsafe day or night. The museums are fantastic! The British Museum, the National History Museum, The National Gallery are amazing. You need to give yourself plenty of time in each museum because there is so much to see and well worth your time! London is rich in history and you will definitely experience history by visiting the churches, cathedrals, basilicas, and the castles. The London Tower and bridge are amazing! The sites are so fascinating throughout London that you can hardly take it all in so have your cameras ready to take home wonderful memories!

Manchester is a truly great city that completely exceeded expectations. It has an incredibly rich industrial history and is packed with interesting places to visit, from the stunning Gothic architecture of the John Rylands Library to vibrant canals of Castlefield. What makes it even better is its unique location. Right on the city's doorstep, you can escape the urban bustle and find yourself in a beautiful countryside of the Peak District National Park. It’s the perfect destination if you love a buzzing city life but still want to enjoy scenic hikes and fresh air. Highly recommended!

Despite Blackpool being a little run down, I found it has plenty to offer, the beach which is quite impressive and a must to walk along. The zoo is worth a visit and can be reached by bus (number2) from various stops in the centre, There are indoor attractions incase it rains,I.e. the tower, aquarium, madam tousards, golf and a host more,

Liverpool is a great city and we really enjoyed our four days there. Plenty to see and do, everyone was very friendly and the streets were very clean and quiet compared to London. You sensed everyone had great pride in their city and rightfully so. I'd recommend the British Music Museum in the Cunard Building, Mathew Street and the Cavern Club, but not necessarily the resident Beatles tribute band who were rather ordinary for the money. Both cathedrals are worth a visit and the Western Approaches museum, the city felt utterly safe to walk around but there were sadlly too many rough-sleepers. The Albert Dock area was a big disappointment for us. We did a taxi tour of the Beatles homes and places of significance and that was the highlight of our trip for me. It costs more than the bus tours, but if you can afford it between you it's well worth it.

A city of history with so much to visit and see.

A city of history with so much to visit and see. Cathedral, and insights in history going back to the vikings and beyond. Yorkshire people are welcoming and always helpful. There are many tourists who are clearly having a great time. I’ve been here three times before and there is always more to take in.

Birmingham has some great Cantonese roast meat and rice restaurants, and most importantly, some of our closest family live here. The city feels clean, peaceful, and comfortable, which made our stay even more enjoyable. If I have the opportunity, I would love to come back and visit more often. It is a city that feels very special to us.

Been coming to lees for over 15 years now as son went to uni then moved there although he has moved just outside leeds now we decided to stay central and enjoy what leeds has to offer. We think leeds has changed so much a lot of homless begging everywhere and you couldnt move at night without with hassled........no local coffee shops or just a simple sandwich shop for lunch everything is based on fast food now to eat and go is the key
