What a great random find this was! I was looking for somewhere to stay on my way back from the Highlands, and this happened to be a great deal. I didn't know when I booked that there was a restaurant onsite, so checking in and finding out that there was a great restaurant was an added bonus. My room was beautiful, very clean and had amazing views. The hotel's covid-precautions were particularly attentive, including a complimentary hand sanitiser bottle with the room key. Can't praise it enough!
Gairloch
Location - just what you expect from the middle of nowhere desolated Scottish Highlands location. Amazing views no matter what weather conditions. Free parking on premise, however might be busy when hostel fully booked (see alternative arrangement on the other side of building). Lounge and sitting area were a nice add on. It's a hostel, so expect people from all around the world with that specific atmosphere. Might be a stay of your life or a downer - it always is a lottery :)
Sometimes finding the right words isn’t easy but bear with me..... I had booked in two nights at this property doing a quick work gig in the highlands (this was the week just after Covid19 restrictions were eased) Firstly, upon my arrival the grumpy lady who checked me was amongst the grumpiest people I’ve ever met. Not a word about how to find my room nor anything about the facilities What did I like? Hmmm... the checkout process was quick!!
This is our third visit to the Boat Hotel. We love it. The staff have always been polite and willing to help with any issues. The pub/restaurant offers nice ambience and good food. The breakfast area is pleasant -- and breakfasts are the usual fare, but excellent. This trip we stayed three nights and used it as our home base for some day-trips through the Highlands. We'd go back in a heartbeat.
The location in reference to Ben Nevis and Steall falls is superb. Very close. The hotel staff was very accommodating and nice. We were able to bring our dog in for breakfast(included), and our room even had bowls and treats already set up for our dog. The room was of decent size for two adults and two children. This was our first stop in the highlands, and we were very impressed. We would stay again.
The location in Inverness was good in regards to access to the highlands. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom heated towel rail got hot. Although the room lacked a bath, the shower was pretty good. The view of the River Ness from my room was pleasant. Good central location to Inverness town and a good location for easy access to shops, bars and restaurants.
The Hotel pulled out all the stops to make us feel welcome, we stayed just after lockdown easing in Scotland, and the staff had to work twice as hard, particularly at mealtimes. Excellent location for Exploring the Highlands. Great value and highly recommended.
This is a special hotel in an extraordinary setting. It is in the highlands, on the lake with the mountains reflecting in the view. The staff was good, the restaurant and bar solid and the facilities were nice but the whole thing is the glory of the setting.
Onich
The location really is phenomenal, 15 minutes in the car from Fort William, just off the A82 for routes to the rest of the Highlands. Beautiful scenery right outside your window. The Corran Suite was beautiful inside with extra room for relaxing!
One night stopover on the way to the Highlands. We ate dinner in the hotel bar a limited menu (due to the restrictions) but it was all very nice. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable. COVID measures meant our stay felt safe.
Fort William
It was a great pit stop for us between highlands and Glasgow. The apartment was very close to Inverlochy castle and was good for our family of 4 adults and 1 child. Just be aware of a flight of stairs (about 15 stairs) for carrying bags
Fort William
The location was great for exploring the Highlands. With a couple of restaurants, and Neptune's Staircase, a short walk away. Really clean apartment and the view's from the balcony were incredible! A proper home from home.
Dornoch is a great location for exploring the Highlands. This wee town is charming and has a beautiful beach. The hotel has an excellent restaurant and great selection of whiskies. Staff was first rate. Friendly and attentive.
Fort William
LOVED the restaurant. The service and food was absolutely superb. It saved the entire experience from being a complete bust. The setting is beautiful and t is in a great location if you want to tour the Highlands.
We had a great time at the MacDonalds Highlands Hotel! We got a complementary upgrade so we had a very big and comfy bed! The staff were friendly and the breakfast (which was included in the price) was very tasty.
Love this old hotel. Food was outstanding! Sat in the lounge for dinner right by the fire. If traveling in the highlands a great place to stay.
The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting the highlands. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
We did not like Macdonalds Aviemore hotel and transferred to Macdonald Highlands for our stay
The experience of the camping in the middle of the green jungle, more than 200 mere above and top of it driving the steep uphill and suddenly a small deer freezes in front of our tracks due to the car lights..Wow!! The silent night with only the noise of the cricketing insects was an amazing experience .
When traveling, accommodation is an necessary. But visiting this place the accommodation becomes the attraction. The riverbed is a wonderful rest-bite while traveling thru wonderful Scotland. After one night our batteries were fully charges and ready for our ongoing adventure thru Scotland.
