Absolutely perfect. Jean is an amazing host. Attentive, precise, kind. You will feel at home from the first second. He treated us like an elder brother, same for his girlfriend and all the team. Big rooms, totally in the nature, literally beachfront. Extremely confort beds. You will enjoy Samba’s food. (Samba is the chef). Local cuisine but totally adaptable to every requirement, but real local products. In the garden there are fruits of every kind and you will eat that. Same for all the other products, nothing processed, just natural. Again, if you want enjoy Bubaque vibes, nature and tranquillity, go here.

Mango Lodge is an easy stay for any backpacker. If you are happy to disconnect during the day and go explore rather than staying in your room looking for the wi-fi signal, this is definitely the place for you! There is no electricity until 19:30 due to the island of Bubaque not having any cables on premises; everything is powered by generators running on gasoline, and the staff makes sure to let you know that upon arrival, which helps manage expectations! I loved the garden, very well taken care of! The rooms are basic but super fresh due to their location, the bed is comfy, and the bedsheets were clean. Lovely decorations with natural flowers from the garden upon arrival. Breakfast can improve, but if you only like to have a coffee and some fruits for 2000 CFA, you can get a good value, and if you add 2000 more, you can get an omelette treat as well, not too bad for being in the middle of nowhere. I was happy to go on some excursions organised by the team between Mango and Cajou Lodge, but you must ask upon arrival or head straight to Cajou to ask what is happening in the upcoming days. Would definitely recommend it as a relaxing, cheap stay in Bijagos if you are on a budget! ps: water pressure is not great and so is the overall bathroom, but hey, we are in west Africa on an island, so already having a private bathroom is a luxury, I must recognise that.
