Zseri Vadászház was wonderful. I traveled with my sister. The owner treated us very well, she spoke perfect English, and even offered us a free upgrade to a beautiful room. The room was very spacious, with 2 armchairs, had a large balcony overlooking the forest, the mattress was wide (1.05 cm) and very comfortable. Sitting in that balcony, with a cup of coffee, was priceless.
The whole place was very clean, and had a nice hunting theme decor.
Small hunting hotel, in the middle of a beautiful hunting forest, yet close to towns and cities. Only 1 hour and a half from Budapest.
The dinner was buffet style, and was one of the best food we had in our entire 10 day trip to Hungary. We specially loved the deer stew, and the schnitzel.
If you are in Budapest, it is a good idea to spend a few nights at this hidden gem to relax, enjoy nature and the real Hungary!.

Convenient location and a reasonable price for a family with children. The hotel has everything you need for a one-night stay. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. We were running late for check-in, but the hosts had no problem making an exception for us. I would definitely stay here again if needed.

The house was gorgeous, with everything you need and even with sauna. Very clean. We could relax in cosy terrace with grill zone. The house has two bathrooms, what was very convenient, for we were 4 persons. This little town is in very good location, because it is not far for most of visiting places in Hungary.

The old city centre is a 1000 years old, so it might worth a...
The old city centre is a 1000 years old, so it might worth a few walks :) The rest of the it is like any other socialist city. There are some pretty good restaurants around, worth a try, especially when they have traditional dishes.
Also worth checking out: the small airfield Börgönd: 10 minutes away with car, and you can book a parachute jump, or a pleasure flight :)

Lake Velence is the 3rd largest lake in Hungary with hopes...
Lake Velence is the 3rd largest lake in Hungary with hopes that tourism will once again flourish again. The town has so many hidden gems and it's a shame more don't stay outside of the city and take advantage of delicious and not outrageously priced meals and great Hungarian hospitality.
It's a simple town with lots to do if you want. There is a thermal bath in Agard, a Palinka factory and watersports nearby on both sides of the lake.
It's a great place to take couples trips as well as a family trip. The lake beaches are public and private depending on where you stay so it's perfect.
Hop on the train and take it into Budapest without the worry of parking in the city and utilize some of the oldest and best public transportation throughout Europe.

It has a beautiful lake, which currently is 4 feet lower than normal level. Hungry national kayak Academy is based in Velence, less than 10 minutes by car. The Academy also has a 50 meter indoor pool just three years old. At the end of the lake is a wellness Centre and spa which looks amazing. It’s a perfect area for cycling and very flat. The perfect place for a quiet holiday as well as a family holiday.

I might be biased since I was born here, but the city is...
I might be biased since I was born here, but the city is extremely welcoming with more than 1000 years of history. You can easily spot the historical buildings just by strolling in the downtown. You do not need a car if you rent something withing the city as public transportation is excellent, safe, convenient, comfortable, and cheap (~$1/ride). There are great shops all around the city with a great variety of such in the downtown as well, whether you need a tylenol, a new pair of earrings, or some cheese to pair with a glass of local wine.
I highly recommend to try some bakeries and cafes - not just in the downtown - as they are true gems capsulating past generations' favorite baked goods. (I have a coffee shop in the USA and also love baking, so trust me I know what I am saying.)
Don't forget to discover places close or nearby to the City. Go to swim at Lake Velence and have a tasty traditional dinner at one of the local restaurants or have a bite at one of the stationed food truck type of pavilions right around your beach chair.
You need to visit some castles to get a glimpse of history too. Castles are everywhere in Hungary and you will feel like you stepped back into our history when you walk through saloons, wine cellars, and towers.
Google the city before you go so you will have a plan because you can be easily overwhelmed by the options and the trip always feels too short to check everything off your list.

The best thing about Velence lake and its surroundings is that there is minimum of foreign tourists, because they all drive to Balaton, Budapest etc.
The majority of holidaymakers are locals.
Its also a good destination for cyclists who can bike around the lake and visit villages nearby.
The lake itself is very shallow (good for nonswimmers) with healing stinky mud on the lake bottom (suitable for skin problems).

Amazing town which was once the capital of Hungry and has...
Amazing town which was once the capital of Hungry and has some incredible history. We took the bus out to Bory Castle and we are so pleased that we did - unbelievable. So many statues and roman remain to explore. Find the town clock and experience noon's display.
