The Hawks's Nest Resort First of all I just want to review the place as if it was any other place. The room was really nice, very spacious and with a nice couch and coffee table where our family could sit and relax, the view from either bed or the couch was amazing with the ocean and the very well maintained and beautiful jungle flora in between. It was clean and honestly one of, if not the best place my family and I have ever stayed in South East Asia. Would recommend anyone to go here. Now I want to review the people who made this the best experience we've ever had hands down. The staff was so incredible pleasant and friendly to be around. We had the greatest days here and they made us feel like family. The guys and girls that worked in the restaurant and grounds all had an amazing way of making us feel at home. It was layed back but in a very polite and natural way. It seemed very clear to us that the people working there enjoyed what they were doing and also each others and the guests company. The manager Llya was so nice to be around and she made sure that we had the best possible stay ever. We can never really repay her for her outstanding service and friendly, inviting way of being. Thank you so much for everything Hawk's Nest we hope people will enjoy their stay at least half as much as we did, but really we know they will. Best regards from Denmark 🇩🇰

The place just right beside Parkside Gayo Petro Hotel, We were confused where Petro inn is because there was no sign. The price cheaper than Parkside hotel with same facilities. The differences are rooms size, no window, and different building. Breakfast at Parkside hotel restaurant. There are big parking area, supermarket and Gas station in this Hotel area. Casa Nemo is owned by an Acehnese woman who prioritizes cultivating beautiful experiences and running an ethical, eco-friendly business. The entire resort is beautifully manicured with fruit trees and flowers everywhere. Everything here is done with intention and love. The staff take great pride in their work. Aceh Heritage Village: Right when you walk in, you'll see two beautifully restored historic Acehnese houses featuring hand carved and painted decorations. This is totally unique on the island, and it's a must-see. Sometimes there are events there, so check with the resort to see about the schedule. The restaurant: The restaurant is stunning with an inviting porch that reveals the ocean and the lush landscape. The food is delightful with a mix of Indonesian and Western options. I am gluten free with a sensitive stomach. The restaurant always accommodates my dietary restrictions, and I always feel good after I eat there! If you will be staying awhile, you can even bring your own gluten free flour, and they will prepare something special for you. I love the ayam tangkap (an Acehnese specialty that you can't find many places on the island) and tom yum. The rooms: Every bungalow is done in the traditional Acehnese style with wooden carved decorations. My bungalow had a porch with a hammock which was the perfect place to relax while watching the ocean and listening to the sounds of nature. The bed was comfortable. The shower had hot water and it was easy to control the temperature, which cannot be said of many showers on the island. There was also a fridge and water dispenser in the room including hot water and china cups. The spa: I have had some of the best massages of my life at the spa here. My favorite is the Javanese. Masseuses are expertly trained and accommodating with any issues you may have. Friends of mine have had waxing done with excellent results. The beach: Great for lounging and a gentle swim.

Once you walked through the lobby onto the beach, it took your breath away. The view was simply stunning and I have never seen water that colour before. The rooms were beautiful, designed to a high standard. We loved the size of the window looking out onto the ocean. The staff were super friendly and very attentive, and we loved the 2 girls. We also hired a scooter here, and they arranged the dolphin trip for us. I would recommend the dolphin trip. Lots of dolphin and you were taken to 3 different spots to snorkel, and the lunch was delicious I would highly recommend this place.

Peaceful and tucked away, this is a wonderful place to call home for a week or more! The cabins have a forest or waterfront location, with a terrace and hammock to call your own. There’s A/C, hot water, and fast WiFi. The dining area is beautifully set on the water, with snorkelling available directly out front. The food is excellent, but it’s the staff who really shine: Annie, Teatree, and Boy really went that extra mile to make our stay perfect! I would love to come back.

We stayed for 2 nights in the newly built building so the rooms were clean and comfortable. Although it’s not an oceam view room, you can still see the ocean from the window. Staffs were polite, friendly and helpful. The seawalk bridge towards the beach was beautiful. Definitely will stay here again for the next visit.

Lovely relaxing easy Island to travel on.

Lovely relaxing easy Island to travel on. We had scooters which were perfect, but many tuk tuks or taxis. Stunning Island, almost entirely covered in natural vegetation. Very low population, caters well for tourists. No flash restaurants that we came across but plenty of options around the Island. Much more relaxed than the mainland with Sharia law, just be respectful and dress appropriately. Bikinis etc on private beaches seem to be fine, but cover up to go on boats, into public areas etc. Once again lovely local people, a pleasure to visit.

Banda Ache as a city is quite abysmal.

Banda Ache as a city is quite abysmal. Litter strewn so untidy. Noisy .Pavements/sidewalks are appalling mostly. The tsunami museum well worth visiting, it’s the only thing there, apart from the quite good ferry terminal used to go to the islands. Finding the boat on the roof very difficult, you have to persevere in the many twists and turns. Drivers here on Samartra have no driver awareness or road etiquette for fellow drivers, and an even lower respect for pedestrians- drivers are rude, intolerant, drive far too fast for a city and give no thought to anyone but themselves. Locals can be very friendly or ignore you. Not a pleasant city

    Sabang is an amazing Island.

Sabang is an amazing Island. Some call the island Pulau Weh, some call it Sabang Island. It offers plenty of things to do and see. The people are very welcoming, helpful and friendly. We both got there to get our PADI open water and PADI advanced open water. We did the course at Lumba Lumba diving center and would highly recommend that place. Huge amount of knowledge and very high standard. You pay a bit more, but still a lot less than let's say Bali or other places in the world. They are a 5-star PADI resort. The diving is among the best sites in the world, some say in the top 5 spots after Maladives, Mexico and Papua. Also the island provides lots of good food (for instance Baracuda, Dee Dee's, D&D fish). It's easy to get around on a rented scooter. We enjoyed two beautiful weeks there.

Going to the many beaches, especially in Lampuuk and Lhoknga. Hidden treasures of waterfalls and swimming in the Lhoknga river nice for children. Easy to get around with Grab or becak. We ate at Bless Flower, Lampuuk - the best grilled fish! Eky Momong for views on the beach. Ben Jawas for Middle Eastern food. Simpang Lima Cafe for lattes and nasi lemak. The Cut Nyak Dhien museum is fascinating, even though photos not with English blurbs. And of course Sabang with plethora of diving and snorkeling

Pulah Weh is a cool island to drive around motorbike, it's lush and green with lots of monkeys. Gapang beach is really nice and Bubble Addict is a great place to do dive courses at a far cheaper price than other parts of Indonesia. The ferry from Banda Aceh is frequent and really comfortable as everyone has an assigned seat.
