Ketut was always available, happy to chat and answer questions and help with solutions to the little unknowns that invariably pop up when visiting a new place for the first time. The breakfasts (and other meals offered) were all delicious and prepared with love. The villa and location are impeccable - I absolutely loved being surrounded by the sounds of nature and waking up to hear the roosters and see the sun rising over rice paddies. The villa was appealingly minimal but with every need considered from the comfortable bed to the lovely spacious bathroom and well stocked fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. 11/10 for cleanliness throughout.

SwitzerlandThe view was amazing, and the staff as well. I was unfortunately sick before I arrived and stayed there to get better, the staff was super nice and even brought be some free hot ginger tea to get better. We also really liked the room.
It's very clean and close to the Besakih temple. The village nearby is also nice to see with the small local market.
Atmosphere was very calm and peaceful and it was very nice to have the possibility to have breakfast onsite :)

I tried the 90 mins oil spa was also amazing.

The pool is large for such a small resort ( only 6 villas), with enough lounges for everyone. Food is very good. Our five night stay was our second time there and we were greeted like family returning. We’ll certainly be back again.

my friend and i booked both seaview one and seaview two bungalows for our stay in amed. while seaview one is a little bit closer to the ocean, seaview two is larger and has a direct straight on view of the sea. both satisfied our needs and delighted us with both the peace and quiet and being surrounded by the wild beauty. i say “wild” because the sea was particularly rough the six nights we were there. we hoped to snorkel more but there was only a day or two when the sea was calm enough. that’s rainy season for you! the snorkeling was really wonderful and easy when we were able to go! the staff here is so sweet and kind. breakfast delivered to your porch, was eggs of choice, toast, a fruit bowl and balinese coffee. the air conditioner is excellent and quiet. the fridge worked fine and made ice for afternoon beverages by the beach. right next door to the left we had some wonderful balinese massages in the spa. very reasonably priced! there are only a few beach vendors and they are very kind people. the staff will put out cushions on the wooden loungers on the beach if you want to hang out there. we had such a restful time here. if you want a beautifully landscaped grounds in a peaceful environment, i highly recommend! i’d come back here in a flash if ever in amed again.

Our stay was nothing short of a spiritual journey, and it touched our hearts in ways words can hardly express. We chose the private One-Bedroom Suite, which offered not just a place to stay but an oasis of peace, complete with a private pool and net that seemed to invite us to sink deeply into the surrounding natural beauty. The view was beyond description, a volcano mountain rising majestically above a lush jungle, a sight that felt like a direct connection to the earth’s soul. Every moment spent in that room was a reminder to pause, breathe, and simply be.
The staff were incredibly warm, kind, and attentive, making us feel like family. Their service was outstanding, and always helpful. The open-air spa is a must there!! it was a perfect place to unwind, offering a peaceful and holistic experience.
The villa is located just 10 minutes from restaurants, grocery stores, and money exchange offices. Virgin Beach, a must-see destination, is just a 50-minute drive away, and Gembleng Waterfalls are only 15 minutes by car. Plus, you can rent a bike directly from the hotel to explore the area. Patal Kikian Villa was the highlight of our entire trip in Bali!!! An unforgettable experience we’ll definitely be returning to.

Katut the property manager met us upon arrival to give an overview of the property and hand over the room keys. Each villa had a lock and key associated with it. Each villa had an open air bathroom and shower which was beautiful and an A/C unit inside. Free kayaks were available to use which we paddled over to another bay for some amazing snorkeling. There is also decent snorkeling right off the beach in front of the property. Breakfast was served every morning with fresh fruit, eggs, toast and pancakes. Katut was able to arrange poolside messages which was a wonderful experience. We had our own private pool and loungers. This is a beautiful and unique property, especially if you're looking for some deep relaxation and romantic spot with some isolation. We ate at the Galang restaurant across the street which was good and got food delivered most other nights.

Lipah Beach is such a great quiet town. The atmosphere at Hidden Paradise is just as laid back and welcoming as the town. Their restaurant on the beach always has a delightful breeze blowing. In addition to the dining area there are couches and a relaxing area too just to enjoy drinks, read a book, or talk with guests. Haven't even talked about the snorkeling yet which is just directly out in the surf behind HP. Plus, they have a shady spot on the beach thanks to a large tree. The food is excellent too. Many choices and covers a wide variety of tastes and cuisines.

The beautiful sunset ocean view from my room, including from my shower was so dreamy. The room was spacious and clean. The infinity pool over looking the ocean was so tranquil and just outside my room. I loved that I could just walk down to the water and snorkel in clear beautiful water with colorful fish, including a purple puffer fish and blue starfish. Aquaterrace is walking distance to Japanese Wreck snorkeling beach, too. The food at the restaurant is really good. I especially enjoyed the brownie.

what a dream, it was like being in a magical fairy tale. the place is impeccable, so much thought and care to every detail. the property is so lush and full of beautiful foliage and flowers, it was a true feast for the eyes. and all the staff were incredibly sweet and helpful. the room! wow, loved it and the bathroom and the firefly that made it into my room one night. and the restaurant by the river! awe inspiring.

Very beautiful and quiet place, it is an ideal place to relax your soul and mind. Everything is thought out to the smallest details (drinking water in the room, umbrellas, pool towers etc), friendly stuff, well-kept garden, clean pool with the amazing view. The stuff helped us organize the trip to Agung volcano with good driver and guide. We've absolutely enjoyed our staying in Cepik villa. Highly recommend

We had one room facing the sea, close to the swimming pool and one standard room. Both very confortable and cleaned every day.
The location is perfect and taking delicious breakfast facing the sea is so nice.
But the best part maybe is the staff who are all so nice and so helpful, making the stay perfect.

Amed is low key and a bit ramshackle.
Amed is low key and a bit ramshackle. I liked it for those reasons. Background of dramatic mountains. Vibe is completely different to other parts of Bali. It’s not a party location and there is no glossy posse.

The view from the pool is excellent.
The view from the pool is excellent. The building construction needs improving with many examples of poor workmanship, chipped bath, misaligned electricals, tiles falling off. The layout would be great for three couples as all rooms are stand alone, but did not suit our family. The lounge is open air so mosquitos and bugs meant heavy use of DEET. You have to go outside into the rain to enter bedrooms, also not great. This property needs to be finished structurally, with an entire area upstairs not completed and construction equipment lying around.

Unfortunately there are major workings to fortify the beach fronts presently. Beach closures are taking place, which apparently may take a further 12 to 24 months to complete.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries.
Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries. There are plenty of eateries around. The beach is unfortunately littered with rubbish and stray dogs roam around. It’s not somewhere to stay for long. There is a dive centre so it might be good for that, but for me as a general tourist I wouldn’t take a holiday here. I just stayed for the fast boats.

A little village with one main street.
A little village with one main street. Lots of diving opportunities. There was a 3 day festival happening when we were here that had a night market and dancing, including a fire dance. We got to mingle with the locals, kind folk, which was nice. It's a pretty easy scoot to some of the temples, rice fields, waterfalls, beaches, and attractions in the area. Decent local restaurants, good massages, good accessible shore dives.
Easy enough to find a scooter rental for 70k-85k per day, ask the owner of where you're staying.
During our stay in late October, there was a lot of haze in the air (maybe from burning?) so unfortunately, there weren't good sunrises or sunsets.

Pura Tirta and the most amazing rafting site. So a 3-night stay at this place is ideal to cover east Bali and then you can go to Ubud.

Seraya is definitely a place to recommend. If you are looking for authenticity, pristine beaches (Virgin beach), local culture (Lempuyang Temple, Tirta Gangga Water Palace & Local Coffee Farm, etc.), you will definitely love the place!

We stayed just one night to visit the Gates of Heaven.
We stayed just one night to visit the Gates of Heaven. I feel is enough to see the surroundings and have a feel of the place. We found the tickets a bit expensive. I mean is a nice place but not to pay 10$. You can see Tirtagangga in 20 minutes, depending on whether you are an instagramer and you take selfies in every corner, then you can stay there for over an hour, although is very difficult to take good selfies as there are people everywhere.
Around the entrance, there are a few restaurants and shops. But please I would say to the owners or whoever takes care of this place, tell people not to feed the fish. They are huge! and it's because the shops nearby sell food so you can take a picture with the fish.

The area is wonderful with so many things to do.
The area is wonderful with so many things to do. From beautiful beaches, horse riding, ATV driving, ziplining, monkeys, surfing, fishing, great local restaurants and day trips all over the island.
Much quieter than the south and west of the island so you get a real look at traditional Balinese culture, not bogan booze buses and nightclubs.

Amed is such a peaceful location perfect for people wanting to enjoy scuba, snorkeling, massage, nice food and beautiful scenery. It was very affordable, and you could do as little or as much as you wanted in terms of activities.
