It’s in beautiful quiet location, with a lovely group of staff. The villas are spacious and comfy and thoroughly cleaned. The pool is large for such a small resort ( only 6 villas), with enough lounges for everyone. Food is very good. Our five night stay was our second time there and we were greeted like family returning. We’ll certainly be back again.

Get ready for some serious honest review. I usually never really give reviews in detail but this resort deserves my time to write this. Our stay at Patal Kikian Villas was truly beyond expectations from the moment we arrived until the day we checked out. We were warmly welcomed & even received a complimentary upgrade to a private pool villa, which was absolutely amazing. The villa offers a direct, unobstructed view of Bali’s tallest and most majestic volcano, Mount Agung. A truly breathtaking sight that left us speechless! The atmosphere throughout the property is incredibly serene. We found ourselves perfectly content simply relaxing in our villa, whether lounging in the living room or enjoying the private pool, both of which face the stunning Mount Agung. It was so peaceful & beautiful that we barely felt the need to leave. We wanted to extend our stay but unfortunately the resort was fully booked :( The staff were genuinely friendly & attentive, adding a personal & welcoming touch to our experience. The food from on-site restaurant was consistently delicious, with a great variety to choose from, so much so that we happily dined there for every meal. Every time we went for dinner, we were pleasantly surprised to return & find our room had been tidied up again, which was such a thoughtful detail! We also appreciated the complimentary local appetizers served at the start of each meal, a lovely way to experience more of Balinese flavors. Breakfast was equally satisfying, with generous selections to start the day right. We were also treated to a complimentary 15-minute foot massage during our stay, which added a relaxing touch. The bed was beautifully decorated in a way we had never seen before! And the pillows are so comfy! Overall, this was a superb and memorable experience :) We will definitely return to Patal Kikian Villas every time we visit Bali. Highly recommended!

Katut the property manager met us upon arrival to give an overview of the property and hand over the room keys. Each villa had a lock and key associated with it. Each villa had an open air bathroom and shower which was beautiful and an A/C unit inside. Free kayaks were available to use which we paddled over to another bay for some amazing snorkeling. There is also decent snorkeling right off the beach in front of the property. Breakfast was served every morning with fresh fruit, eggs, toast and pancakes. Katut was able to arrange poolside messages which was a wonderful experience. We had our own private pool and loungers. This is a beautiful and unique property, especially if you're looking for some deep relaxation and romantic spot with some isolation. We ate at the Galang restaurant across the street which was good and got food delivered most other nights.

Lipah Beach is such a great quiet town. The atmosphere at Hidden Paradise is just as laid back and welcoming as the town. Their restaurant on the beach always has a delightful breeze blowing. In addition to the dining area there are couches and a relaxing area too just to enjoy drinks, read a book, or talk with guests. Haven't even talked about the snorkeling yet which is just directly out in the surf behind HP. Plus, they have a shady spot on the beach thanks to a large tree. The food is excellent too. Many choices and covers a wide variety of tastes and cuisines.

The place is very nice - beautiful bungalows surrounded by trees, with direct access to the beach. The room was very nice, the. The bathroom/shower was a highlight - very spacious. The terrace is very nice to have breakfast on/chill with the view on the sea. They also have tables /sunbeds by the beach. The coral reef is amazing, we've seen a lot of turtles, plenty of fish, even a few sea snakes and one reef shark in just 2 days. The owners and stuff are all very friendly and kind. The beautiful sunset ocean view from my room, including from my shower was so dreamy. The room was spacious and clean. The infinity pool over looking the ocean was so tranquil and just outside my room. I loved that I could just walk down to the water and snorkel in clear beautiful water with colorful fish, including a purple puffer fish and blue starfish. Aquaterrace is walking distance to Japanese Wreck snorkeling beach, too. The food at the restaurant is really good. I especially enjoyed the brownie.

The hotel is superb, especially its location directly on Lipah Beach, where you can see corals and many beautiful fish. The hotel is very clean compared to others I have been to in Amed. The room is spacious, the bathroom is also big. The towels were changed once every 2-3 days, We stayed 6 days and they changed the towels twice, which is a big plus for them.

Amed is low key and a bit ramshackle. I liked it for those reasons. Background of dramatic mountains. Vibe is completely different to other parts of Bali. It’s not a party location and there is no glossy posse.

The view from the pool is excellent.

The view from the pool is excellent. The building construction needs improving with many examples of poor workmanship, chipped bath, misaligned electricals, tiles falling off. The layout would be great for three couples as all rooms are stand alone, but did not suit our family. The lounge is open air so mosquitos and bugs meant heavy use of DEET. You have to go outside into the rain to enter bedrooms, also not great. This property needs to be finished structurally, with an entire area upstairs not completed and construction equipment lying around.

Normally, It’s a lot quieter than most other towns in Bali. Unfortunately there are major workings to fortify the beach fronts presently. Beach closures are taking place, which apparently may take a further 12 to 24 months to complete.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries. There are plenty of eateries around. The beach is unfortunately littered with rubbish and stray dogs roam around. It’s not somewhere to stay for long. There is a dive centre so it might be good for that, but for me as a general tourist I wouldn’t take a holiday here. I just stayed for the fast boats.

A little village with one main street.

A little village with one main street. Lots of diving opportunities. There was a 3 day festival happening when we were here that had a night market and dancing, including a fire dance. We got to mingle with the locals, kind folk, which was nice. It's a pretty easy scoot to some of the temples, rice fields, waterfalls, beaches, and attractions in the area. Decent local restaurants, good massages, good accessible shore dives. Easy enough to find a scooter rental for 70k-85k per day, ask the owner of where you're staying. During our stay in late October, there was a lot of haze in the air (maybe from burning?) so unfortunately, there weren't good sunrises or sunsets.

An off beat location, which is actually peaceful and great...

An off beat location, which is actually peaceful and great for nature lovers, adventure seekers and history lovers. It is close to the mother temple of Bali (15 minutes), Blue lagoon diving and Snorkeling, p Pura Tirta and the most amazing rafting site. So a 3-night stay at this place is ideal to cover east Bali and then you can go to Ubud.

Seraya is definitely a place to recommend. If you are looking for authenticity, pristine beaches (Virgin beach), local culture (Lempuyang Temple, Tirta Gangga Water Palace & Local Coffee Farm, etc.), you will definitely love the place!

We stayed just one night to visit the Gates of Heaven.

We stayed just one night to visit the Gates of Heaven. I feel is enough to see the surroundings and have a feel of the place. We found the tickets a bit expensive. I mean is a nice place but not to pay 10$. You can see Tirtagangga in 20 minutes, depending on whether you are an instagramer and you take selfies in every corner, then you can stay there for over an hour, although is very difficult to take good selfies as there are people everywhere. Around the entrance, there are a few restaurants and shops. But please I would say to the owners or whoever takes care of this place, tell people not to feed the fish. They are huge! and it's because the shops nearby sell food so you can take a picture with the fish.

Besakih accommodations have a beautiful location in small village, with amazing views across the valleys. The hike of Mount Agung is challenging in all possible ways and attempting during day time (heat- a big part is without shade) or without a guide in our opinion is dangerous. If travelling to Besakih you might consider having a car or motorbike as there are a lot of dogs on the street that bark and approach you unfriendly. we managed to use the transport from the accommodation. The Besakih Temple is mind blowing, the guide we had was very knowledgeable and very good at his job. Would strongly recommend visiting besakih for a minimum of 3 nights.

Amed is such a peaceful location perfect for people wanting to enjoy scuba, snorkeling, massage, nice food and beautiful scenery. It was very affordable, and you could do as little or as much as you wanted in terms of activities.
