Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, the rooms are super beautiful and everything one needs is provided. One thing to highlight in particular: the breakfast was really good, while the selection was not huge it was absolutely sufficient and the food quality was truly great.

The hotel is in the centre of the historic Sassi districts, the rooms were fabulous and you can choose from a terraced room or a suite in a cave! The breakfast was great and the front desk (Sara and Gianvito) were extremely helpful for us planning our trip. Not only for sites to see in Matera but also helped us plan Puglia, Calabria and Sicily. They were so nice! Highly recommend.

LOOK NO FURTHER, BOOK NOW! Absolutely exceptional location, accommodation AND staff. Walking distance to the historical center of the stunning Matera, these incredible caves capturing every aspect of their forgotten charm also offer the luxury of every modern amenity one may need. Such a unique experience worth every penny: from the incredible courtesy of Pasquale from the front desk (taking care of us as if we were the only guests, bringing coffee for my parents' super early mornings, making restaurant reservations and ensuring parking transfers), to the kind bell boys carrying very heavy luggage up long & cumbersome stairs, to the very rich breakfast in an old cave church, the housekeeping 2x/day bringing fresh fruit and water into the room, the bar staff still serving us drinks after a long journey even though it was officially after hours or the therapists offering 1h massages in the intimacy of your own cave. We were very delighted with the time spent here and would come back any time!

Oh this place! I've read a couple of mixed reviews about it and was a bit unsure what to expect but to me this hotel was one of the best stays of my life. According to the staff, we were originally booked for a cave room but this was easily changed when we asked to switch for a one with a view (we stayed end of December, off season but still). The room was not large but perfectly enough and spotlessly clean. Sure the furniture was not the newest, but together with high wooden ceilings, double windows with a view of Matera and a shower build in a wall, it just added to the charm. Excellent breakfast. Warm AC. Overall, an amazing stay. Thanks Hotel Sassy team!

We stayed there for one night on our way from Bari to Sicily. The hotel rooms are placed in a corridor building forming an arc. The pool was really nice, and the water was warm. A lot of outdoor space. There is a football pitch, tennis court, night show for the kids, animators (both kids and adults)… The hotel is about 2 km from the beach, but there is a bus to and from the beach. We had bed and breakfast but opted to pay for the buffet dinner. It was amazing. The pasta was excellent. Breakfast was very nice as well. The staff was very pleasant. Friendly and doing their best to cooperate.

Matera is still a secret of Puglia and that's what makes it so special - from preserving the architectural tradition, with narrow streets, old stone, many churches, very chic restaurants, very good food, extremely clean, extremely bright (you can walk around without problems at any time and you can see a treasure at every step), with superb views, with wonderful people, I could talk a lot about Matera! But you have to see it with your own eyes to believe it!

I liked the old city center area, all the restaurants and shops just a short walk on mostly level ground. It seemed very safe! I would have liked to see the museum but it was a little too far and down a steep hill for a troublesome knee. A little knowledge of Italian and a translation app was helpful. The people would work with you and overall we’re very kind.

Marinagri offers very unique vibe.

Marinagri offers very unique vibe. It is peaceful and very tranquil, you will feel welcome and safe. Policoro is a small city. However it is very cute and people are kind, the weather is great in September. The reason I decided to travel to Marinaagri is sailing in the Ionian Sea. My sailing experience was sensational and I am happy I discovered new destination for my new sailing journeys. The food is amazing I did visited Nemo restaurant, this is very unique place with amazing food choices an first you may think it is a fast food place but I’d you go to Policoro you must try it it is amazing. Seafood is fresh and local and very tasty.

Our trip couldn’t have been better.

Our trip couldn’t have been better. The town is delightful, so unique and beautiful. The food was delicious and not ridiculously expensive, (We tried two different restaurants on the host’s suggestion list). The hike across the suspension bridge up to the archeological sites was spectacular and not too strenuous. However, my favorite part was staying in one of the renovated cave houses. It made the whole experience so authentic and interesting. We had a wonderful time.

An interesting city for a short visit.

An interesting city for a short visit. A nice Archeological museum (general tours are in Italian exclusively). The city is rich in its theatre but unfortunately, we came out of a season. The historic city centre is situated on the top of a high natural hill; verticals in the city are striking. Therefore, free public elevators are quite ordinary means of transportation.

We loved the town and we loved the apartment the hot tub was wonderful. My husband enjoyed the sauna and the Scottish shower. The shower in the bathroom was great and like artwork. The bed was very comfortable and the hostess and coworkers were great. The breakfast was great. The parking took a bit to figure out and you will do some up hill hiking to get around but so worth it the town is like a fairytale. Wish we had more time to stay and do some hiking and guided tours.
