The exceptional breakfasts served to us in a private room. The helpful manager and staff. The delightful onsen. The fact that it was off season and quiet. We had on site parking and easy access to the snow monkey park and mountains resorts.

We visited early season so this was one of the few hotels open. The hotel was very nice and the traditional tatami beds were very comfortable and warm. We didn't book dinner with our stay and they recommended eating at a hotel nearby, but most of them were closed. Luckily, slightly up the road, there were some food trucks. The onsen was very nice and relaxing after a long day of snowboarding. Overall the location is very nice, the location is very convenient and we would stay here again.

Very clean and spacious rooms. I really appreciate the pick up and drop off shuttle services from Iiyama and Yudanaka Stations. Great location next to Ryuoo Sky Park for skiing and snowboarding. Guests please message property if you would like to add dinner to your stay the night before check-in. The chefs need time to get groceries and prepare for dinner service (charged separately from room cost) They have one laundry machine for shared use.

This is an amazing ryokan. If you let them know when you arrive at Yudanaka station they will have a shuttle to pick you up. They also have a shuttle that takes you to the Snow Monkey Park so you can leisurely start hiking the actual hike. Afterwards they pick you up and drive you straight to Yudanaka station and your luggage is of course also brought along. I booked dinner and breakfast and both were just amazing and such a nice way to experience Japanese culture. The dinner was especially good. They also have hot baths that are open 23h with both indoor and outdoor onsen. At this place everything is taken care of for you.

Everything about Yudanaka Seifuso was special. The room was incredibly spacious and very traditional just like we were looking for. The 3 onsens were incredible! They alternate times for genders and one can be made private. We got the dinner and breakfast and would highly recommend everyone try them both. The dinner was a traditional set meal that was one of the best meals we've ever had. The staff were all so kind and sweet. The amount of work they put into everything can be felt all around the property. If your looking for a ryokan experience it's hard to go wrong with yudanka Seifuso!

Weekday breakfast and dinner kaiseki were excellent. The buffet meals on peak days (Saturday, Sunday morning) had a variety of options. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in answering questions about the area. The club rooms were bigger than expected and included a kitchenette, which came in handy when we arrived late on our first night.

We had the best stay, the staff were so incredible and the room and hotel itself was stunning. The beds were so comfortable and it is in a fantastic location! The hotel also puts on a free bus to the station and the monkey park which is super helpful and they also have free electric bikes to use. Amazing stay.

Great location close to alot of restaurants and Lawson. Only a 8 mins drive to the town centre with AEON and other shops and restaurants. Onsen was bigger than I thought also with Sauna as well.

The monkeys are marvellous.

The monkeys are marvellous. Of course they are attracted to the valley by the food they receive regularly but they are totally free to come and go. So entertaining and endearing to observe how they interact. The park was created in 1964. Beautiful forest in a mountainous area that grows apples, peaches and grapes and lots of vegetables. Pay attention to the hotel you choose. Avoid Hotel Housei.

I think I would have stayed a little longer (than 3 nights)...

I think I would have stayed a little longer (than 3 nights) to take advantage of the skiing and the onsen's (alternate between the two!), to relax for longer in the Japanese countryside. (I did not come to Japan to just check off the tourist sites...) The town has narrow streets to walk on, even without gps you cannot get lost as it is more or less parallel to the river, especially the more tourist section with all the onsens.

For a tourist location, it was hard to find restaurants open...

For a tourist location, it was hard to find restaurants open, or willing to seat us (a party of five). But in general the food was good and the location was great for hot springs and access to the snow monkey park.

The Onsen hot springs experience was unique and for anyone wanting to see how the Japanese hold this aspect of their beliefs in such high regard this area is a perfect example and for a couple of days you can immerse yourself in a different cultural and culinary experience that will be the highlight of your holiday and the truest insight of this unique way of life.
