FinlandLoved my room on the ground floor by the pool, the room was fresh and clean. The food was good, both the breakfasts (many dishes to choose from) and the lunch and dinner I had. The staff were friendly and nice. Very close to the bus stop to/from Siem Reap or Ha Thien. 1.5 km from the main area of Kep, but it’s walkable or a cheap tuktuk ride away. Would definitely stay here again.

This place is magical and a little slice of paradise. The French owner, Lionel, was an absolute gem and helped us with booking everything we needed like excursions and transportation. Their Khmer chef is super talented and I even asked her to teach me how to make her mango salad (after I ordered it 4 times in a row! lol It was that delicious). She was wonderful and agreed. My family loved her food so much that we ate at Q more than at outside restaurants which we normally don't do. I'm a foodie and she's fabulous! Besides Lionel and his staff, the pool is the star of this place. It's nestled in the middle of the jungle and you can sit and just listen to all of the wild life around you. You may see a monkey or 10 as well. It's also big enough to swim laps! Individual bungalows are simple, but comfortable and we never even locked our door once we arrived. It felt like staying with family. We brought our two boys and dog from USA and after 2 1/2 months of traveling in Vietnam, I felt like I found heaven in our first Cambodian stay. Highly recommend!!! If you read this Lionel, thank you again so much for your hospitality! We won't forget you or your property! :)

Oh my gosh! What an absolutely incredible experience. everything at this beautiful hotel is designed for luxury and comfort. The pools were incredible, the food...WOW!!!! and the staff were so helpful and so friendly, What a lovely stay. We had an amazing time. its also super close to the market and even thought the hill has a bit of a walk, it is beautiful scenery and super tranquil. The view from our room was spectacular! the vibe, the ambience... what a beautiful holiday. Thank you.

In my opinion Samanea is one of the best hotels in the world. It has everything you need and more! The staff is exceptional and the atmosphere is magical! You will - for sure - be relaxed and reloaded with energy after a stay there! We will return for sure! PS: Compared with other national hotels Samanea beats them by far :) Sorry

Such a wonderful place with wonderful personnel. So nice and helpful.
If you'd like a peaceful place this is the one, five minutes walk from the Crab market, easy to rent scooters, bus, tuk tuk. Breakfast is good and rooms are confortable.
Above all, hosts are sooooo nice!

Kep is a great little beachside area that is going to get...
Kep is a great little beachside area that is going to get more popular as foreigners discover it. At the moment, it suffers from being too close to Kampot, but I think there is a movement of people looking for something different. There is a lot of street food, especially seafood, and it is reasonably priced. The beach is ok, it is shallow, good for kids to have a splash but there are concrete boat moors in there which can make it a little dangerous for a stubbed toe or cut foot.

Kep tourism has not picked up like in neighboring Vietnam or...
Kep tourism has not picked up like in neighboring Vietnam or Thailand and is probably for slightly more adventurous type of travelers (incl. with kids). Indeed, the city remains very green, airy and offers a truly Cambodian experience. Think crab market with slinging hammocks, mangrove boat trips, secluded pagodas, off grid guesthouses on Rabbit Island (disconnection!), nice dinner by the sea or even a gentle hike in the National Park. Renting motorbikes to visit caves or Kampot nearby are nice add-ons for a longer stay.

Kep was a great day trip for us.
Kep was a great day trip for us. We walked in the National Park, took a dip at the beach, got a beer by the seafront and chilled in a hammock and then got food in the market and a restaurant. We had excellent seafood in the market (squid in pepper sauce for 75c!) and sunset margaritas
Parts of the seafront were totally empty/abandoned - empty lots on the boardwalks. It was quite different to what we had read in guidebooks I think. Perhaps development going on?
We also had quite an aggressive Tuk Tuk driver who had driven us to our accom the night before follow us from point to point during the day who would not stop engaging with us.. even when we said no repeatedly which made us (2 females) quite uncomfortable, especially arranging Tuk Tuk for our next journey. Having travelled to many other countries in SE Asia before, I found this a lot. Be careful.
