The staff warmly welcomed us. The crushed papaya welcome drink cooled us down from the scorching hot sun when we checked in. The chef prepared Sri Lankan crab as I had desired when I ordered lunch. They also checked with us on our breakfast preferences. The toilets and rooms were spacious and clean. Everything was perfect.

Loved how everything was clean, especially rooms which are cleaned twice a day. Amazing staff by the pool, moment they see you looking around confused somebody comes. Food and drinks are amazing as well and honestly not that expensive if you disregard price of your stay. Had amazing surprise where they made us cake for my wifes birthday free of charge

Puvan and team are really kind and caring staff. Puvan arranged many things for us including excursions to Pigeon Island. The location is amazing, really quiet on a pristine beach with no one around. It is kind of remote from the places with more activity and restaurants but those are accessible very easily by tuktuk. Food is also great

The best place for a relaxed holiday at the beach. Everything is perfect, it is all in the details…. The maintenance is excellent. The owners wife is French so you can feel it in the interiors. The wide beach is spotless clean, they check it every day. Next to a cute fisherman place with little boats. Lovely garden. The swimming pool is very cute. The food is very good. The chefs worked in 5 star hotels. They can arrange tuk tuk and different tours ( they do not charge commission). Thank you for this little paradise!

We stayed at Avila Nilaveli Beach and were absolutely delighted! The villa is small but very fresh, cozy, and clean — everything feels well-maintained and new. The staff were wonderful — kind, attentive, and always willing to help. They had their own set breakfast, but we sometimes asked for additional things, and they happily prepared them for us. Everything they made was truly delicious. Coffee or tea was always served with breakfast, on time and with care. One especially lovely gesture: before our departure, they prepared a dish with okra just for me, showed me how they cook it — it felt like a mini cooking class! And then they packed it up for me to take with us. It was such a warm and thoughtful touch. We also felt very safe and well looked after, as someone from the staff was always around and available if we needed anything. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back. Highly recommended!

We had a perfect stay! The owners and staff are incredibly kind and welcoming. The entire property is brand new – we were the very first guests! Everything is spotless and beautifully designed. The swimming pool is amazing and the whole place is just a dream. The breakfast was delicious, and we also had lunch at the property once – it was excellent and highly recommended. The hostess Chandi was so warm and caring – I felt like I was at home with my mom. Every wish is taken care of immediately – they truly go above and beyond. Highly recommended to everyone! We will definitely come back!

I recently stayed at Hotel Jay-R in Trinco and had a fantastic experience. The location is excellent, it’s right on the main road, making it incredibly accessible, yet surprisingly peaceful. Despite being so central, it wasn't loud at all, which made for a very restful stay. The rooms are clean, hygienic, and offered at very affordable rates. It’s a perfect base for exploring the area. We were close to both Uppuveli and Nilaveli beaches, and it was so easy to hail a tuk-tuk right outside to visit the Koneswaram Temple. Plus, there are plenty of great restaurants and eateries just a short walk away. What really stood out for me about Hotel Jay-R, though, is the hospitality. The hosts are incredibly warm and friendly people who took such good care of me. They were supportive and attentive throughout my trip, making me feel genuinely welcome. If you’re looking for a comfortable, well-located, and friendly place in Trincomalee, this is definitely the spot!

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel (5 nights), especially thanks to the amazingly friendly and caring staff and manager of the hotel! They are trying so much to feel their guests comfortable! Daily we used the large hotel pool and the lonely and clean beach (when the sea was calmer). One evening they prepared only for us luxury dinner as a gift for us, it was delicius! The hotel restaurant is perfect, we have eat there everyday. Almost everyday we made short trips to Trincomalee center and for sightseeing around via tuk tuk. The staff takes care for the hotel carefully - daily they clean the nice green garden, pool and also the beach. The hotel is not new, but it would helps to improve the impression with so much little - just like do new paint in the rooms or repair the tile in the pool for safety.

Trincomalee has recovered from the years of domestic strife.

Trincomalee has recovered from the years of domestic strife. there was a very upbeat air about the place. Everywhere we went, people generally looked happy, smiled or waved. Our hotel was on Uppuveli beach which is beautiful. We then had to return to Colombo Airport, which we were easily, and reasonably able to do on the Visit Lanka website. More locally there are masses of tuktuks. We found the Pick Me app very useful, which is a Sri Lankan equivalent of Uber

I liked the small hotel we stayed in on the beach front (Mithra Paradise) and the semi-private beach. A real gem if you're looking for a quiet romantic place. Much better than the big faceless commercial hotels. I would recomemmend the small guest houses in the whole of SL for this reason as the service is exceptional and they are usually family-run so they put a lot of love and effort into pleasing their guests. No mosquitoes in July. Avoid the dolphin watching 'chasing' tours. Loads of boats making a big noise and running over the dolphins. Poor animals. You only glimpse them for a few seconds and the boat ride is hell on your back. Try the snorkelling instead.

This location was absolutely beautiful.

This location was absolutely beautiful. There's lots to see and do and 3 nights wasn't enough to fully enjoy the setting. Yes you can spend time at the beach and go snorkeling, but you can also visit the Thiruskoneswaram temple and eat delicious food on Sarvodaya Road. We highly recommend Rice 'n' Curry Restaurant. As well as The White House for Accommodation and Rangan Snorkeling

it was great there.No worries about the sea,just the wind was blowing a bit strong.Com[any always around you,you are safe there.You can book snorkelling,boat rides,sea tour any time,many options available.saw about 200 DOLPHINS!fisherman always fuzzing around in the morning.Annoying fishing boats.

Trincomalee is a beautiful beach town, the beaches are amazing, lots of cultural things to do if you want, as well as lots of relaxation. Some great restaurants on the beach and in the town. The only draw back is it takes quite along time to get to (depending on where you are coming from) but that is the same across most of Sri Lanka

A much more peaceful beach holiday that at neighbouring Uppaveli, so if you want to get away from the crowds, it’s a perfect spot. The surrounding countryside looks beautiful too - I wish we’d have had more time to explore. We ate at Sara’s fish restaurant, where the seafood kottu & prawn curry were delicious.
