ItalyDon't be fooled by the low rates, this place is a real gem! Apparently the owners of the hotels have changed this year and improved a lot. The structure is in a wonderful place, easy to reach, next to an amazing viewpoint on the waterfall Videfossen. It has a very nice common room (with some board games) and restaurant with a view on the valley. The breakfast has a lot of very nice options and there is an option to eat there a buffet dinner, but we didn't try it since it was a bit expensive (520kr). The room was essential but big, very functional and perfectly clean. The staff was very nice and welcoming.

He even recommended the different wines that pair nicely with each dish.

We found a beautifully located campsite there. The cabins were simple, tidy and clean. The view was wonderful, and the reception staff were very helpful with any questions or requests we had. We had a very, very good meal in the adjoining restaurant and were treated in a friendly and personal manner. For anyone who prefers individuality, freedom and friendliness, this is a very nice place to stay.

Hytte is really spacious, clean and had everything we needed for our stay.
Hjelle is scenic little village on the lake, we liked that it wasn't crowded with lots of tourists like Geiranger. We hiked to Segestad Mountine Farm, which was great and we were the only persons on the trail. View from there was fantastic and you can visit the farm buildinga and find out how people lived there.

We stayed in a self-catering cottage next to the hotel . The cottage was well equipped, clean, and there was lots of space. We have a 3 week trip, and sometimes you want to eat your own choice of food. There was a supermarket nearby what was really nice.

Beautiful location , the cabins are really nice ,and the beds very good to sleep in.
The view was amazing, and we paid for the sauna and that was great after swimming .

Lorentz, the owner, and the rest of the team is super friendly, we really felt at home here and would definitly recommend Hjelle Hotel. They also offer sauna (free) and a gym (50 NOK) which is very nice and very big.

We stayed just outside of Stryn town, about 8 minutes drive.
We stayed just outside of Stryn town, about 8 minutes drive. The town is amazing little idyllic location with few shops, restaurant and of course, amazing mountains surrounding it. You can see these majestic mountains, the river that flows through the town and on occasions, even some paragliders! Food variety is good due to multiple restaurants. We were even surprised to find more than one Halal food restaurants. Stryn has a charm of its own and is ideal for excursions to other nearby great locations such as Loen, Olden, Geiranger, etc. Therefore, we set our base near Stryn and visited all aforementioned destinations. The roads to get around from Stryn are all main roads of Norway, so there wasn't any issues. If you plan, you can do a lot of activities around Stryn, unfortunately our stay was short this time but we did manage a lot.
Would definitely visit Stryn again and recommend it highly to any visitors thinking of going there.

Absolutely the right choice to stay. The view is amazing, the kitchen is fully equipped, actually everything you need is available, just bring your own food and you can even cook, wash your clothes.

Olden is a beautiful little town next to Loen with drives and outdoor acitivities galore. We stayed 2 days and could have stayed at least 2 more. We did the Skylift, ate at Hoven, drove to the Briksdal glaciar and the Kjenndalsbreen Glacier. Loved it!

Great area for a weekend or just to break a long drive over the mountains. Will definitely go back. Lovely thoughtful details, chairs and a rug by the waterside, a rowing boat to borrow, a sauna for after your swim in the glacialmelt water.
Interesting hamlet with lots of buildings being restored.

Lovely location on the Fjord. Gorgeous.
Lovely location on the Fjord. Gorgeous. Not a whole lot to do except short hikes along the Fjord, or going on organized tours. In general, it is a good idea to check hiking possibilities on online sites before going somewhere in Norway. When the fjords are very steep that there aren't many easily accessible hikes, which we didn't anticipate. But the walk along the Fjord was jaw-dropping and you can go a long way.
We tried to rent a bike and the minimum rental period was 3 hrs, and we didn't have that much time.( It is a small place so an hour's rental would have sufficed. )
The glacier museum was nice for 60-90 min.

Stryn nice city and very quiet but any families plan to visiting very important to have private car or driver as it’s not easy to find public transportation to all cities near and Stryn taxi very expensive

My adult daughters and I were visiting Norway and planned...
My adult daughters and I were visiting Norway and planned to drive from Bergen to Alesund. We chose the Loen because it was about half way between each city. We spent two nights at the Loen. The beds were comfortable. Food was very good considering my kids are vegetarian. Desert table was amazing. Spa area was lovely, relaxing and we spent a few hours just lounging in the waters - showere, sauna, steam, cold plunge, whirlpool etc. Pools were also fun. We also went hiking in the area. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

For those who love Norway's mountains and green farmed...
For those who love Norway's mountains and green farmed glacial valleys all topped by Europe's largest Ice Field, this place is as picturesque and likable as anywhere on Earth. The Glacier Museum in Fjaerland sports a riveting breathtaking 20 minute flyover surround video of the Jostedalsbreen Ice Field. With all this, it's also quiet and peaceful - not overrun by tourist buses at all

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to Geiranger. We booked a room with two queen beds for three people, but it was nothing like the pictures shown on the website. The room was dark, outdated, and extremely small. There wasn’t even enough space to open the luggage for three people. We paid almost $350 for one night, but it wasn’t even up to the standard of a one-star hotel. On the day of arrival, we received an email instructing us to pick up the key from a pizza shop next to the hotel instead of the reception, and we never saw anyone at the reception during our stay. The next day, we called the hotel several times to check out, but no one answered, and we never received a call back. I would absolutely not recommend this place.

Staff is very good and the hotel is well presented. One must be aware it is not a modern building and therefore do not expect modern luxury but it is a true experience. Location and views are amazing. Price is too high though all considering.
