We stopped here on a drive from Oslo to Ulsteinvik on the coast. The location is perfect to break your journey and the town is charming. The rooms were fabulous — Scandinavian chique — and the kids loved the upper loft area where they slept. The hotel staff was fantastic and were super accommodating. We arrived late and called in advance asking if we could still eat in their award winning restaurant. While we couldn’t have the standard 5 course menu, they kept aside main course and dessert for us. The meal was the best we had in the trip and the service and hospitality was outstanding!

Turtagrø Hotel has traditions dating back to the 1880s. This hotel is located 884 meters above sea level, at the foot of Vest-Jotunheimen. This is a fantastic location with some of the more interesting hiking and climbing routes in Norway, near the Jotunheimen Nasjonalpark. We choose the accomodation in the "Swiss chalet" and this allow us to save a lot of money :-) without losing the magnificence of the place and additional services provided by the hotel like for example the very good dinner (one of the best we have in Norway). The Chalet is really beautiful and extremely functional. Clean and full of services, like the shower and the drying room.

Bessheim Fjellstue har utsikt över sjön Øvre Sjodalsvatnet. Här erbjuds en restaurang samt boende med eget badrum och utsikt över bergen. Gjendebåten avgår drygt 5 km bort. Very nice and spaceous cottage for up to 7 people. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Perfect stay for hiking as it's very close to Gjendesheim.

Skjolden Hotel ligger i centrala Skjolden, cirka 30 km från Urnes stavkyrka från 1100-talet. Här erbjuds utsikt över Sognefjorden och rum med gratis WiFi. The Skjolden Hotel was the high point of my trip. I was passing through the area and stayed for three nights. I was immediately captivated by the view of the fjord, then stayed for the excellent food from the kitchen and the lovely staff. if I had the time I would have stayed for a week.
