It is only a few minutes drive from Oppdal, the nearest town. Nearby you can go skiing, cycling, mountain hiking etc. Friendly staff and great food in the restaurant.

Second time I stayed at Vekve Hyttetun. Once again it was an excellent base to explore Dovrefell national park. Oppdal is only 25mins away from Kongsvol train station where you can hike to the DNT hut Reinheim or search around for Musk Ox to photograph. Friendly owner and the cabins are super comfortable and warm.

The host was at reception when we arrived and provided us with keys to the cabin, directions and a layout of the property. She knew we were in the area to see the Musk Ox and provided information on how to get to Snoheim as with the hot weather, they moved up to higher ground.

Exceptionally familiary atmosphere, equipped with everything, clean. We spent 3 days in a ‘small cabin’ what is a nice small wooden house equiped w. electric hot plate, fridge, kettle, TV, heating panel.

The house was very beautiful and has everything you need. The kitchen has a ceramic cooking plate. It was clean and very quiet. The camping is next to a river, it was beautiful.

I stopped in Oppdal by train from Kongsvold.
I stopped in Oppdal by train from Kongsvold. I was on my way to Trondheim doing the pilgrimage of St. Olav's Way.
Oppdal is this small town that has a lot of charm. I was able to walk around town for a little bit. There are sidewalks throughout town that allow you to get all over the place.
Transportation - There is a train that can take you north to Trondheim. There's also a bus if you need to go to Berkåk. This makes it easy to get around. There's even a taxi service by the name of Trønder Taxi AS that you can use to get around. Warning - taxis are pretty pricey in Norway and I would recommend using public transportation if you can. Download Vy app to check times and buy any tickets you may need.
I ended up eating at Burger King in Oppdal(I know, very American of me). I wanted to have something quick to eat. I will say this, fast food chains are more expensive than local restaurants.
