The style of the hotel is a pure Wes Andreson movie. If you are a fan, it’s a must to visit. The bed is very comfortable. The staff is just amazing, super kind. Last but not least, the breakfast is the best I’ve seen so far. Yes you have to pay extra for the swimming pool, but not a lot, and it was easy to book.

Staff were fabulous, very friendly and hospitable. The hotel itself is just stunning, super groovy spaces and very comfortable! The breakfast was great & the cafe called Space By and the restaurant Yeast were both outstanding! The location is also perfect. We cannot recommend this place enough, we will be back!

Friendly and welcoming staff who really made an effort to make sure guests were looked after - even the breakfast host was super friendly. This is a fantastic hotel in a beautiful building with an unbeatable location in the centre of Oslo. Lots of tourist spots are within walking distance and excellent public transport is just across the road. Very very highly recommended.

It was difficult to believe that Karl Johans budget hotel was so cheap. We paid single room about 150 euros/two nights. Room was large enough for one person. Price includes wonderful breakfast. Location in Oslo centrum is suberb. And people in reseption were helpful and smiling.

Convenience. It is close to the sea, close to many tourist spots like the National museum, and it has a Korean cuisine restaurant almost right when you leave the property. It also isnt too far from the central area of Oslo. The room we were given had a beautiful view and it was exceptionally clean and tidy. The basement even had a gym.

We've been coming to the Thief for over a decade and it never disappoints. In recent years being welcomed with a dog in tow we've come to appreciate even more that the hotel really is a home away from home. Having stayed in hundreds of five star hotels all over the world we've seen all levels of service, but there's a consistency and a calmness and something so relaxed about the Thief which is really unique and feels so welcoming. Never any issues with noise, always clean, staff are always super friendly yet professional. We'll keep coming back here as long as the hotel is in business, which I hope is forever!

The hotel is very central with a lot of different restaurants options around the city, and if you feel in doubt about your options, can you always look at the recommendations from the hotel. (We did and they didn’t disappoint!) The hotel room lived up to our expectations and was super cozy! My partner and I had a rooftop room, which included a lovely terrace with a beautiful view of the city. We only stayed for one day unfortunately, so we didn’t use the terrace full potential. The breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious!

The location is very good: just a few minutes walking from the main attractions. The room was nice, clean and large. The kitchenette was well equipped. It was easy to pick up the door card from a check-in machine at the entrance. Also, we could use a storage room for our luggage - very convenient if you arrive too early (in fact, we were allowed to pick the the card before the scheduled check-in time). There is a 7-11 shop nearby, but you can also go to Kiwi or Rema1000 a bit further (still relatively close).

Great location near the bus and train station, the city centre and the opera house/ Munch Museum. Great communication about checking in and directions to the office. The apartment was 2 minutes walk from the office. Lovely apartment with lots of windows and a nice view. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Supermarket next door and bars/restaurants around the corner. Highly recommended.

Such a beautiful and vibrant but also very calm and demure city! We always felt safe and the people are very welcoming and kind towards tourists. So many different sides to the city that you can explore. The Deichman public library is especially recommendable!! We will be back soon!

City small and you can walk about. Fram and Kontiki and ancient village very interesting Munch art gallery very good. Loads of coffee shops. Nobel Peace prize handed out in town hall - entry free.

It was Christmas time, the city was quite and peaceful.

It was Christmas time, the city was quite and peaceful. Pleasant to walk around as the temperature was around 0 degrees and no rain. Probably unusually mild for Oslo in December, no snow. Most of the museums are closed over the days of Christmas, as are the many restaurants and shops. So you will need to research your eating options in advance, but you will find them. Starts to get busy again from the 27th December. Overall a very nice city to visit. Transport in Oslo is very good, although if you are based in the city centre you can walk to most attractions. No need for cash, use cards or apps.
