- hotel probably the greenest of all the hotels in Tomar (next to a park, next to river) - both the city center and the castle is near by - built in 1967 so will suit you if you like that wooden vibe - amazing pool - pancake breakfast - family friendly, just beware - the railing on the balcony is lower than I'm used to from elsewhere

Very difficult to say just one thing we liked. From the moment we arrived we could see how charming it is. From the reception area, the big comfy/cosy lounge area, the decor, the restaurant area, the rooms were so charming/cosy, rustic chic. We were made to feel comfortable from the moment we arrived to the time we left. The grounds are lovely to go for walks, with trails alongside the property as well. The heated pool was very nice. The attention to detail at Luz Housed really stood out to us. Can't wait to find some time and go back.

Fátima is a beautiful and peaceful place with a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The Sanctuary of Fátima is especially moving, offering a sense of peace, faith, and reflection. The Church of the Holy Trinity is welcoming, with confession available in many languages, making it accessible to pilgrims from different countries. The evening Rosary at the Chapel of the Apparitions, at 9:30 p.m., is a wonderful and well-organised experience. Overall, Fátima is a special destination for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal. I highly recommend visiting it.

Arrived at Santarem Station from Lisbon, intended as a stop...

Arrived at Santarem Station from Lisbon, intended as a stop off before Porto. The station is about 30 minutes walk. There is a bus service and the timetable is in the station waiting area. It’s a steep walk up to the Town so I’d recommend a Bolt or Uber for a few euros. The town of Santarem is a typical inland Portuguese town and the Cathedral and other churches are well worth a visit.

Tomar is a very interesting mid sized town with a lot of green spaces and interesting historical buildings. My wife enjoyed the extended Souk to pick up nice gifts and traditional Portuguese items. One would need a week in this town to explore everything. Very nice and clean

It is a very calm and nice area, perfect if you want to...

It is a very calm and nice area, perfect if you want to escape the crowds but still be practically nearby. Its around a 20 mins drive to the downtown so if you have a car it is very doable. There is a very nice mall there and the big supermarket chains are also there (Lidl, Pingo Doce). So in breif, it is not a touristic area and there is not too much to see in Alcochete itself, but it offers tranquility and still nearby to the remaining of Lisbon.

Pedestrian friendly town center.

Pedestrian friendly town center. Great views from an absolutely beautiful park by the castle. It's overlooked as a good tourist destination. A new museum has just opened that is definately worth seeing.

Wonderful place, it is a working menage so if you like horses, and kids learning to ride you'ĺl love it. Cleaning was very good also the room with shower etc. Fridge a bit small and wanky door but for the rest perfect.

There are lots of souvenir shops and I would recommend buying off shops a bit out of the way as they generally appeared cheaper. The place itself has a magical feeling no matter what religion you are..there is an air of tranquility.

A small, cozy, historic town.

A small, cozy, historic town. Cafés, restaurants, and little shops are everywhere. The atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful. The nearby 12th-century Templar monastery is a real gem; we visited it twice. The surrounding fortress and the fantastically well-preserved 15th-century aqueduct are also impressive. We used Uber and taxis for short trips.

We love Alcochete - have stayed many times.

We love Alcochete - have stayed many times. A very friendly, attractive small town with lots of excellent restaurants that we know well. Fabulous views of the Tegus & Lisboa. Plus plenty of wading birds for my ornithologist husband and his many birding friends who have visited over the years.
