Ruhondo island retreat was fantastic - both in terms of natural beauty and as a gateway to many local community experiences around lake Ruhondo. Jean was amazing and led us on a hike and community visit - he shared awesome info about the area where he was born. The tents were awesome - with great hot water showers. The food was also excellent, the chef Elias did a great job! I would recommend visiting lake Ruhondo , and the retreat, as an alternative to lake Kivu.

William the manager speaks english and french. He is very reactive and helpful. The food was nice but above the place whre the lodge stands is perfect. On the lake shore with a sublime view on the volcanos for the sunset and the sunrise. A small piece of paradise. Highly recommended!

The staff were so hospitable and welcoming. Food was delicious. Would recommend as a good place for being close to the volcanoes and getting to lake Kivu.

Amazing staff, very helpful. There is a washing machine, they can wash your clothes for you or you can do it yourself. They offer to clean your shoes after treking or your car. Very nice food. Quiet place next to the busy road.
