Beautifully designed new hotel, with brand-new high end luxurious rooms, centrally loacated, with a top rated super hip cocktail bar and an executive lounge on the top floor, a pool overlooking the Mekong river, great food, a fully equipped gym and the best and most breathtaking spa of the country. The service of the staff is excellent. They know what five star service means. The staff did everything to meet my special requests and tirelessy helped me with the daily little aspects of travelling. I felt so pampered and welcome. That is how you recognise a top class 5 star hotel. Thank you, team Amari Vientiane !

Wow! What can I say? There are not enough superlatives to do justice to this property. I would love to keep the secret of this wonderful place all to myself but that would be unfair to all those whose amazing efforts have brought this hotel to such an outstanding level. We have travelled throughout the UK, USA, Europe and extensively in SE Asia and we have never visited a better property than the Souphattra Heritage Hotel. The combination of a sympathetic heritage design, understated elegance and fine attention to detail, make this a 5 star + hotel. Everything is designed to offer luxury and privacy. From the marble and brass bathroom thyme to the old fashioned herring bone tiling techniques, it all comes together to create an amazing tasteful environment. The rooms are bright airy and spacious with high quality bedding and accessories. The facilities include a coffee shop, two restaurants, spa and beautiful pool area. All these areas continue to provide the same understated elegance common to the entire property. The staff all maintain the highest standards of professionalism while remaining engaging and friendly. Special thanks must go to Nouna, Nounee and Tookta who made our evenings at the bar such an entertaining and enlightening experience. My number one choice of hotel – ANYWHERE!!!! What a gem!! Only staying at this Hotel worth the trip to Vientiane. It keeps the glamour and comfort of the past. I have no words for the personal. Since the beginning, they were very nice, polite, and helpful. We faced some problems during our trip, and they helped us with everything, making us feel at home. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. You have anything you may need. Breakfast is nice, and taking it in the swimming pool area is the best way to start the day. We had dinner at the restaurant, and I must say it is the best burger we have ever eaten. Location is superb. Walking distance to street markets and Patuxai. We recommend it, and for sure, we will be back soon.

This has to be the premier location in Vientiane. Great location, with free courtesy bus to major attractions. Upon arrival we were greeted by smiling friendly accommodating staff. The foyer is large and welcoming with a coffee shop. The rooms are excellent, clean, comfortable, modern, large. Bathroom excellent with great shower and hot water pressure. The toilet is fully automatic opens lid on entry and flushes. Curtains are remote controlled and truly excellent black out quality. Breakfast choice is excellent and amazing. Happy hour with a choice of beers is great, we ate in the restaurant every night and were never disappointed in the presentation, quality, value and flavours. All the staff there pride themselves on customer service and they deliver excellence. A 10/10 from me. I have extensively travelled, I would rate here as the best experience I've encountered. I could not fault a single thing.

I was a bit sceptical before I reached this big wild garden with the many huts, little bungalows, minihouses, in a traditional style, reaching up to the river promenade. But then the positive shock: I was about to start my greatest stay in an asian guesthouse so far with my little suite providing me with a balcony/veranda just in front of the marvellous river promenade, giving me the chance of sitting on my private veranda with a coffee or an evening-drink, saying hello to Thais and Falangs passing by, and being part of a big mixed LGBT-friendly family of artists, freaks, studs, families, old couples, sportsguys, connaisseurs from all parts of the world living peacefully and openminded together around there, with a smooth dog and a friendly cat saying hello, with a good choice of thai and western lunch items in the nice garden restaurant, with a wonderfully and uniquely, traditionally designed room, good bathroom and shower, comfy beds, water, fridge, the Walking Street, supermarket and 7/11 as well as brilliant cheap foodstalls in 10 min walking distance in this nice, friendly, peaceful town, where you should definitely take some days rest, visiting at least the spectacular Statues Park 3 km away (by Tuktuk around 300 Bath both ways, it will wait for you, ask for it and plan around 90-120 minutes time) and - just relax happily at this well kept magic place, which in some moments felt a little bit too nice to be true. I will be back for sure.

Cheap affordable and clean. No hassles checking in, paying or booking. The staff went out of their way to help. Yeh, it's no five star but for 25 bucks a night Aus it is a steal. To be frank, I stay only in 5 star normally. I am very fussy. So if I say it's good, don't worry, it's good. Basic, but I extended my stay for 2 weeks, so that shows. If your on a budget - this is your place.

Vientiane is a good place to have a night in between...

Vientiane is a good place to have a night in between travelling via the trains. Sticky fingers is a nice cafe to eat and you can get around easily on tuktuks there. Recommend only a day as Luang Prabang is amazing and you won't want to leave.

Wonderful area to explore, many Temples, Patuxay Victory Monument is not far away and great at sunset to early evening when water fountain puts on a great light show. Riverfront night markets fun park plenty of choices for food.

Living in Udon Thani place makes for an easy trip to Laos to feed my gambling bug. Bit far from Downtown Vientiane, but there are numerous transportation options to get in to town from the border/hotel. * No fine dining places near-by, thus the need to travel in to Vientiane.

Nice and clean.

Nice and clean. Local Food at the night markets along the Mekong is relatively expensive. I suppose we were at the tourists food stalls. As for the tok tok, whilst there are prices printed on a laminated A4 it appeared high and open to negotiations. Can Laos tourist authorities ensure fixed reasonable prices. Bus fares are very reasonable and affordable. However there appeared a big discrepancy for bus fare from Vienteine Bus station to Friendship bridge (longer journey and inexpensive) compared to Bus service crossing the bridge which is so much shorter journey but so much higher in fares.

Sleepy small town by the river, relaxing if you come from a large city like BKK or VTE. Rent a bike and take a tour along the river. Don’t forget to visit the spectacular Buddha park (sister to the Vientiane version). It is a good stop to relax a few days on your way to / from Laos.

30 years ago I was last time im Vientiane. In the meantime it has become a monster of roads, concrete and glass -fronts, just like Bangkok it has now emerged into a meaningless Chinese city.: Asians want to be Europeans who came down from Tibet many years back.

It was bigger than I thought it was.

It was bigger than I thought it was. Many temples further up in the mountains were definitely places to add to your list. I loved the views from the Mekong across to Laos, the markets in the town by the river, the night market by the station and of course all the temples were great to visit. I stayed at the Park and Pool resort which had great service, rooms and a nice pool.
