Atlantic City

We really enjoyed our visit to Atlantic City, especially walking along the wooden boardwalk by the ocean in the evening. The atmosphere was lively and relaxing, and I would definitely recommend riding the Ferris wheel for the beautiful views. One thing to keep in mind is that the ocean can be quite rough and wavy. If you are hoping to swim calmly or snorkel, the conditions may not be ideal; you may end up mostly enjoying and playing in the waves. However, the beach itself is excellent—very wide, clean, and covered with soft, fine sand. We also visited nearby Ocean City. Its neighborhoods, surroundings, and houses felt more charming and attractive, but in our opinion, Atlantic City had the better beach. We also took a trip to Cape May for a whale-watching tour. Unfortunately, we did not see any whales, but Cape May itself was still beautiful and definitely worth visiting. Overall, Atlantic City is a fun destination with a great beach, an enjoyable boardwalk, and several interesting places nearby.

Newark

It was our first time in Newark and it was not what we expected. There are many beautiful places and the local driving is easier than expected. The apartment is centrally located in a safe part of town with a grocery in walking distance. The building is very quiet and the parking is most convenient.

A lot of regeneration going on so there are some very high class areas not far from the run down areas that are in need of an uplift, but overall a nice place and the riverside overlooking NYC is unreal.

Wildwood Crest

Family oriented resort relative to its more well known northern neighbor. The beach in this town is the star of this area. Very wide with a lot of flat area beyond the waterline. No charge to use, which is rare in New Jersey. Quiet at night, no crowds of young people (during our stay) that would disrupt rest of create a potential safety issue. We did not eat in town but there were lots of options. Most appeared to aim at a lower cost/ quick eating experience.

We went there to attend the World cup game. Getting around was easy but expensive. Probably treble normal prices. Bars had also increased their prices to be in on the action. However the game was excellent. The MetLife stadium needs more washrooms!!

Seaside Heights

Location was convenient to the boardwalk, The boardwalk offers several forms of entertainment for children. There are many dining options within walking distance. Getting around the town is relatively easy, streets are well marked. Had pleasant dining experiences at Klee's, Spicy Cantina, The Sawmill, and Wasabi Japanese. Not so good at the Beachcomber, where we left after 15 minutes because nobody would wait on us.

Ocean City

Ocean City NJ is a quaint coastal town - totally family-friendly. Lots of good restaurants and breakfast places. We loved Cousins restaurant on 1st and Asbury...always a good meal there. It was a Monday night in the summer, so there was a 20-minute free drone show at 6th Street on the boardwalk, and it was beautiful. There is also a large auditorium around 8th St. on the boardwalk, and it features good entertainment. Asbury Avenue has plenty of shopping and food, and on other blocks there is a large post office, a library, and neat things like second-hand book stores. The boardwalk is well-patrolled and curfews are in place to maintain a sense of safety and peacefulness. For those interested in church services, there is Ocean City Tabernacle on Asbury, and a number of other church denominations in fairly close proximity. There is Handlaget Design on Central Avenue that gives lessons and workshops on designing beautiful craft projects for beach and home. Travel is easy, with trolleys, bike rentals and other resources. A beach town with hotels, b&b's, plenty of entertainment for young and old alike, and classic, old-world charm.
