The hotel sits well off the main road in its own valley. The accommodation, level of service, quality of food and the scenic surroundings made for a great 2 night stay to finish our 3 week trip. The walks on the estate were great.

Lovely place and setting. Would have liked to spend longer there and see it during the daytime. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a lounge with fireplace was more than ample for us as a family of 4. The restaurant had the most amazing chunky chips.

The house was in a spectacular location with beautiful scenery and amazing hiking trails. We will definitely come back here again and stay for a bit longer. If you look for a quiet getaway in a serene setting, this is the place to go. The main lodge is stunning and the breakfast was really good, staff there was very warm and friendly.

Great little town, very quaint.

Great little town, very quaint. The Transvaal inn though, seems to be filled with old "junk", so it would be a better impression to get this sorted, because the outside looks so cute. The shop attached selling Mexican silver is lovely. We loved the arty-farty atmosphere. Keep it up!

It was my birthday.

It was my birthday. We went to Goodersons Kloppernheim for trout fishing as we enjoyed our last stay there. A lot has changed in 2 years. Fish are fed every morning by the maintenance guys. We could see the trout but they didn't bother to go towards our lures as they were well fed. Food in the restaurant was sub-standard. Standards at Kloppenheim have really deteriorated. As hotel guests we were even charged a "Dam Fee" of R170.00 knowing full well that we would never catch a fish. We suspect that the trout are reserved for special guests and therefore not fed during their stay.

More to learn about history.

More to learn about history. Have enough warm clothes especially in winter. Old and historical small town . No big buildings. Enough restaurants to cater tourists. Two fuel garage along the road of which is good for the tourists.

The photos on the websites are definitely not a true reflection of how the place actually looks. Had I seen the surroundings and how dilapidated the buildings looked from outside, I would never have booked. I also arrived at "dead man's door". Nobody in sight for atleast 15-20 min. I actually thought I had been scammed. When someone eventually arrived, they were friendly and helpful. Once I checked into my room I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was old but neat and tidy. The bedding and towels smelt absolutely amazing. There was coffee, tea, sugar and powdered milk available but unfortunately only 1 coffee sachet was given. I had hot water in the evening and morning which was great. I was given a torch for when load shedding starts. For the price paid, it was okay for a quick overnight stay. I do just think some effort needs to be made to the outer appearance as the location already looks dodgy. I don't know if I will book there again. This will be my last resort if other places aren't available.

It is strange, as South Africans, to never have been to "Dullies" but we absolutely loved it. It is a small, quaint town but you really can fill your days. Browsing unique shops, lots of places to eat and drink and, if you love activities, there's also lots to do! Got 10000 steps every day! Wine tasting Whiskey tasting The Clock Shop Oh my Duck! Bird of Prey Center Tomato restaurant Mayfly restaurant Cheese and wine at Bergen And you have to book - a meal at Mrs Simpsons
