From the moment we arrived at Iris Retreat, we were blown away by the warm hospitality. Christine, our host, was truly exceptional, she personally welcomed us and made sure we felt right at home. She was always available via WhatsApp for calls and texts, and went above and beyond to help us organize anything we needed. Her friendliness and attentiveness made our stay feel extra special, she’s honestly the best host I’ve ever met.
We stayed in the Riverside Cottage, and it was breathtaking. The views of the river were serene and calming, the perfect backdrop for a peaceful getaway. The cottage itself was spacious and beautifully set up. We especially loved the combination of the two bathrooms , one being an en-suite and the other an open-air outdoor shower and toilet, which made us feel even more connected to nature. The bed was absolutely massive, incredibly comfortable, and spotlessly clean.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, private, bush-like escape surrounded by nature , this is it. Everything about Iris Retreat encourages you to unplug and unwind.
A special shoutout goes to Banda, one of the staff members, who was so helpful with setting up the fire and tidying up the space , always with a kind smile and warm attitude.
I genuinely loved every minute of our stay and am already looking forward to booking again. Thank you, Christine and the Iris Retreat team, for such a magical experience!

Very good place with excellent views and clean rooms. Facilities were great and the staff was very nice. The breakfast spread was amazing! The place is serene and quiet and perfect if you want to enjoy a relaxing time. It is also conveniently located and close to many popular tourist attractions.

Such a beautiful property - the rooms were really special and all thoughtfully decorated. We had a small kitchen with the facilities we needed. There was a little terrace and the garden was stunning - trees all around, a swimming pool and more lovely artistic touches.

On arrival we saw a giraffe! Highlight of our whole trip was seeing giraffes everyday! Staff is super friendly. Restaurant staff amazing and food was good. Everyday there is different kinds of activities to do for all ages.

The Service was top notch as usual. Mai, Abe's wife was very accomodating whilst he was away. Although I only swam on Saturday, it was just great to just rest and chill. This was my fourth visit this year and awesome as usual. I will certainly be back a few more times before year-end.

We slept at the Merry Mongoose Tent, which caters to three people. Amazing stay- truly a home away from home. I give it a 5-star rating.
We had an amazing stay at this camping site. The place was beautiful, peaceful, and felt like a real home away from home. From the check-in process to the friendly staff and housekeepers, clean bathrooms, everything was handled so well. We honestly could not fault the place.
There are just a few small things that could be improved. We were informed that the accommodation had an electric blanket, but unfortunately, only the double bed had one, while the two single beds did not have any electric blankets and only one blanket was made available. As the nights can get quite cold, having an electric blanket and sufficient blankets for all beds would make the stay even more comfortable.
It would be great to have a mirror in the bathroom, as this would be very convenient for guests. Other than these small things, we absolutely loved our stay; the environment, hospitality, and overall experience were amazing.
We would definitely recommend this place and would love to visit again.

It is a good place for a vacation and the atmosphere is just perfect. Every entertainment is just a few kilometres away. View of the dam boat cruise cable wire the restaurant at the mountain top. It was amazing

I've always liked Harties.
I've always liked Harties. It's a great short hop frm Jhb to peace n much needed rest as a getaway place. I could've just slept my time away there but there's plenty to do like the spas and pampering I enjoyed nearby. That hyacinth growing on the water was a great turn -off but made me aware of the responsibility we have towards nature.

Did not go into town at all, we went for the rest! Got everything we need at the OK Mini Mart's, there are a few on the route. Everything was fresh and clean. Excellent shops. Also stopped at Bella's to buy all kinds of divine cakes etc. and it was really tasty!

We arrived on Fri, 15 Nov, and was very happy with the reception and treatment we received. We found the staff generally very helpful and we were treated well.
I recently had a hip replacement, and found the communal seating area extremely uncomfortable. There were chairs that were placed in the bar area, but sometimes it felt as if you were waiting for a doctor’s appointment. The bucket wicker chairs did not even have comfortable cushions on them, resulting in one feeling as if you are sitting on a church bench. I wanted to watch the rugby (SA vs Eng), but after 15 minutes, I couldn’t sit there any longer. The seats outside the chalets are also terrible. Steel-framed chairs with a small cushion to sit on – nothing that allowed you to relax properly.
Then, on Saturday afternoon, we joined to boat cruise. Upon our return, the engine cut out and the ranger battled to get it started, resulting in a radio call to the resort for assistance. During dinner, the rangers asked us if everything was still to our liking. My wife asked the ranger if this engine cutout has happened before. To our surprise, the ranger (who apparently has only been there for a month), confessed that it has happened before. Quite clearly, it points to a lack of proper maintenance on the boat.
Our big highlight was the spa. We had a treatment that was really of good quality.
Overall it wasn’t a bad weekend, but according to our experience at other 4-star resorts, Finfoot doesn’t rate extremely highly.
