From the start the communication from John Jack Inn was exceptional and everything well organized. We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon, and our dinner awaited us in our room. And boy oh boy - the best Eisbein we have ever tasted.
The room is beautifully decorated, and we enjoyed and used the fireplaces in both the sitting room and bedroom. Very cozy.
We asked for an early breakfast the next morning and were met by friendly staff and a lovely breakfast. We were sad to leave so soon and will definitely be back to explore the area more and enjoy the accommodation and facilities at John Jack Inn.

The main road to the house was flooded, so we parked way on top of the cliff and had to carry all our fishing gear and food down to the house. The caretaker came to assist with four of his Son's, which made it all go much quicker and they were to pleasant to deal with too

This stopover was so unexpectedly wonderful. We arrived smack in the middle of lambing season and got to walk through the fields with baby lambs frolicking all around us. The cottage itself was just what we needed--well equipped with comfortable beds and sofas. The high ceilings make it feel light and spacious. 10/10 would stay here again.

The food at this property is outstanding. We had 4 fillet stakes cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. The host Peter was very welcoming and to his word delivered an excellent evening meal. His staff also attended to all our needs

I was shocked.
We were booked into Tranquilo Guesthouse.
I was shocked.
We were booked into Tranquilo Guesthouse.
The name sounded like a quiet, well-run “guesthouse”.
We are two pensioners who went to support our granddaughter in Ermelo with a hockey tournament.
We arrived at Tranquilo in the afternoon, checked in, unloaded our luggage and went to the hockey.
On our return to Tranquilo we were told that all our luggage had been packed and there was a Viljoen family in our room.
We were finally booked into Tranquilo two.
Full of anticipation we went to Tranquilo two.
Several people were wandering around the street where Tranquilo two is located.
There were eight women sitting on a wall that were clearly there to attract male clients.
Tranquilo two is not a guesthouse.
No decent, well-educated person would stay there.
It is shocking that members of the public are booked in there.
We were terrified and decided to drive back home in the dark of night.
This deprived us of attending our granddaughter's hockey games the next day.
Something needs to be done before more unsuspecting people are scammed like this.

Whilst it is a pleasant little town, there's nothing to do in Chrissiesmeer, so you should ONLY stop overnight, if you have other things to do there, maybe attend a wedding at the nearby wedding venues, have family who live there or are maybe running late on your journey thru, and just need a quick bed for the night. Chrissiesmeer is not a holiday destination.....
There is a very nice little restaurant, for dinner. The shopping includes a very rustic little shop which contains a tiny selection of many things ranging from groceries to veges to kichenware and basic hardware. There is also a liquor store, butchery and fuel station. That's basically all.
Watch out for the cows, they walk around on the roads.

I like that the place is clean with clear instruction on how to access to your room and there is enough towels and goodies like biscuits that was a very warm welcome.
1. poor breakfast, no eggs or cheese and anything delicious just 2 slices of bread and as a couple that means we have to share two slices of bread with no eggs just butter. 2. We woke up in the morning there is absolutely no water no hot water and no cold water so we had to leave all the way to JHB without bathing, very disappointed with that. 3. Netflix was not playing, i mean that should be checked before guests come in. 4. The aircon was not working to its standards, very low heat but when you open cool dry comes out as expected at a high speed. 4. Even the wifi was very slow, youtube was playing at 360p so we could barely see the pictures and tik tok was not loading also.
