Sunshine Cottage is a lovely place to stay in the area of Fish Hoek, and I would definitely recommend it. Very clean, comfortable, private, and spacious enough for two people. Great facilities and within walking distance to the beach. The place is quiet and has a supermarket (Spar) not far from. Private parking and excellent wifi. Comfortable bed and a great shower! Enjoyed the coffee, milk, and the biscuits that the hosts left for us too :-)

Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Great view. Very Clean. It was very hard to find an Uber driver first since all driver cancelled when they saw the location… but the hosts were VERY helpful. They organized for us a transport to the airport and gave us the advice to prebook Uber (you pay a little bit more, but drivers are then willing to pick you up)

Location: very near to the Boulders Beach penguins; there was a side gate that leads directly out to the boardwalk next to the visitor centre about 1 min away. Perfect spot for an early morning walk to see the penguins. Facilities: the room was spacious and cosy and there was a good smart TV with Netflix/Youtube. Bathroom was well furnished with a bath tube and amenities. Bed was good. Service: Staff was friendly and attentive the moment we entered and service was impeccable. They provided lot of good recommendations of Simon’s Town. Breakfast was awesome with a view of the bay.

The Submarine Museum is a must.

The Submarine Museum is a must. A lot of effort went into creating it and through volunteers and donations, it has thrived. The tour of the interior of the S99 - SAS ASSEGAI ex SAS Johanna van der Merwe is a must and the tour guides are both humorous and knowledgeable. Also on the approach to Simonstown is a slightly hidden but very interesting SA Naval Museum. There are about 6 places to eat out in Simonstown depending on your budget and if you are willing to wait at a few of them, you will have plenty of time to enjoy a good wine. Be aware that some of them shut early around 21h00. It is also a penguin lovers delight at Boulders, just a few hundred yards as you exit Simonstown to the east on the Cape Point road. A few companies running fishing and shark cage experiences from the jetty at the Quaside Hotel. A lovely little town.

At the time we were there a section of the beach was being renovated so a bit of a building site...Sea ok for swimming but look out for the surfers....its busy. waves and wind variable but seems good for surfers. many surf shops for hire and lessons. Some good second hand shops if you dont want to spend a fortune in the seafront shops!

The primary reason for going to Fish Hoek is the beach - the sand is hard to describe - so fine and clean. The water is lovely, clean and refreshing, with nice waves and we go down early to walk the beach and swim/boogie-board every day. It is a great beach for children and attracts families. The town high street looks a little scruffy and tired, but there are little gems - coffee shops and breakfast cafes. On one side lies Kalk Bay - a fabulous coastal village of interesting shops and restaurants, and on the other, Simons Town a and the Bolders Beach where there is a large colony of Penguins.

We loved how private it was.

We loved how private it was. That we had our own space and no one knocking. The lady that cleaned our room waited until we left to clean and when we came back she was gone and did a great job. We loved how the security waited for us until we came in to lock up. We loved how professional the staff were. They allowed us and the bridal team to take pictures there, and even allowed the girls to get ready for the wedding in the room. The staff were very professional and we loved that. We had our own parking available for us so we didn’t have to walk far. Everything was great, and we would definitely go back and longer. Our favourite places there were the beach, muizenberg putt putt, the blue train, the mall and shops weren’t too far. We went a little far to black Marlin restaurant, got some kfc , fish places, etc. It was easy to get around kalk bay.

The most disappointing experience having booked this place, it was falsely advertised, an extremely unhelpful, unprofessional, rude and totally inconsiderate of the fact that it was her fault for misleading us in her advertisement of the place.

Clovelly is a lovely quiet area in between the quite lively and noisy suburbs of Kalk Bay and Fish hoek, but only a short walking distance away from them, (about 15 minutes walk) So nice if you want to have peace and quiet while you sleep. Clovelly and fish hoek beach are really close, and the nice restaruants in Kalk bay also close. There are lovely mountain paths you can walk down and hikes right out of the back garden. Lovely sunset view from the flat.

We visited the last weekend of the festive holiday, and the traffic was horrendous. All the way from Muizenberg to Simonstown was one long traffic jam. Access to Boulders Beach and the Penguins was closed, presumably due to the sheer volume of visitors. The people of Simonstown were friendly and kind, from street vendors to shop assistants and waiters. I look forward to visiting again at a quiter time of the year.

The beach is very busy with lots of people, but it has a nice vibe. Good eating places close by. It is not safe to leave unattended bags on the beach, but I left my bag with people sitting nearby one day and gave it in at a local surf shop the other day. People at the surf shop was really nice (Lifestyle syurf shop).

What I liked most is the on suite toilet the tranquility of the place, the neatness and the comfortable bed. What I did not like was the fact that there was very little space for our food and drinks., maybe just to invest a small freezer or get another fridge., but otherwise place is awesome.

Kalk Bay is a perfect getaway for those who appreciate the finer things in life-wonderful restaurants where you are spoilt for choice, friendly locals, spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding hills. The working harbour with its fresh fish on display is really great. Lucky's fish and chips in the harbour complex is a must-including Bootleggers, The Portuguese restaurant-etc, etc! An eclectic mix of different cultures give this little gem a vibrant, welcoming hue-could happily live here!
