Sundays Karoo Guesthouse is a beautiful Guesthouse in Graaff-Reinet! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and wished we were staying for longer! The property is beautiful and the rooms are stunning! The rooms have a modernised twist but still keep the history in the rooms! We met Jane, Peter and Cathleen and they are warm and welcoming, they really made our stay even better!! The rest of the staff is also so friendly! You can tell that this property is full of peace! Stay here for a night, and it will quickly become your favourite place in Graaff-Reinet! So grateful that this was our first stop! We will definitely be back!

The hosts were superb. Informative, kind and helpful. My first time in Graaf-Reinet and I arrived late at night. Imelda and Beau were kind enough to meet me off the bus. South Africa is not the place for a novice to wander around at night! Room was very comfortable. I had all the facilities I needed. Great stay.

The tranquility. So much more than expected. The dirt road leading to the farm is well kept. The houses are neat and clean and comfortable. If you need to recharge, to get away from everything Waterval farmstay is the place to go.

I love to go back to the old town of Graaff-Reinet.

I love to go back to the old town of Graaff-Reinet. The best thing about this town is that it's so well maintained and the history is in all the streets. It's a beautiful town, and I'm sad we didn't get to stay longer. Next time, for sure.

If you have not been to Nieu-Bethesda before, do yourself a favour and go. If you have the time, stay a day or two and explore some of the hidden gems of the town like: Stirlings - The Karoo Food Experience; Waenhuis restaurant; Brewery; oom Boetie’s Pub; Stonefolk of Ongelukssloot; The Arty Way ~ galleries and studios; Dust Covers bookshop; Helen Martins museum and the Fossil museum. Something for everyone!

An interesting town situated in a picturesque, seldom-travelled part of the country. Take a slow drive up spectacular Rubidge Ridge, then immerse yourself in the history and culture on offer. Highlights are Helen Martin's famous and quirky Owl House and the Kitching Fossil Exploration Centre. Visit Infinity art gallery and you may be fortunate to enjoy a recital by a talented local pianist, and don't miss the well-stocked Dustcovers bookshop. Be sure to buy sourdough bread baked by a fairly new resident, whose popular tea-and-cake afternoons and sporadic dinners are evidence of his culinary skills. There are several good restaurants - we had delicious pizza and pasta at Zalig. Safe to walk around and explore the town. A community that deserves your support.
