Adri the owner was very friendly and could not have done more to make our stay exceptional. She prepared lovely breakfasts for us including melkkos and a vegetarian dinner.
Adri also took us to the local war grave cemetery to visit the grave of my great grandfather.

They advertise "sleeping with lions etc roaring" is an understatement. This is a life time experience that I highly recommend. Besides from the "cats", the facilities and staff are exceptional. Thank you Elizabeth for all your hospitality. It was 5 star.

The Retief Guest Farm is outside Kroonstad and off the N1 making it convenient to find.
Our brief visit to the town was not an experience that I would recommend, the roads are in poor repair, and signage to orderly shopping centers difficult to find.

Kronstad is such a small nice place to visit.
Kronstad is such a small nice place to visit. The issue of potholes is the municipal issues. If potholes could be fixed, it will be nice to drive around. The shops and mall are very close in the area. You get everything within small radius. Boskoppie was also outstanding.

While travelling between East London and Kruger Park we passed through a number of smaller towns and most are in a terrible condition. Kroonstad still seems to be holding things together and worth considering if you need to find a spot to overnight during a long trip
