Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandBeautiful traditional hotel and restaurant. Great attention to details throughout the property. Staff so helpful even dropped us to the bus station which was greatly appreciated. Food for both breakfast and dinner was a mix of traditional foods which was all very tasty.

SwitzerlandThe tables of the restaurant are immediately near the room, and its always loud since the windows don't close well. The bathroom was quite small and water goes everywhere since there isn't a shower curtain. The kitchen is on that floor and the smell of oil comes inside the room, which it's quite intense sometimes. The rooms have a lot of spider webs, and theres clutter dust. They don't have a parking spot, but you can park somewhere in the main road for free (which was very full) or there was a parking spot around 4 minutes walking distance for around 500 lek (24h) - which Antonelli was so nice to tell me the options. Parking is not a dealbreaker since it says theres no parking spot, however the other things do matter a lot, and that's why i would rate it around 7.5/10, but since we cannot do that, i would rate it at 8 since 7 is not enough.
We came across this hotel through instagram, and it has a big hype over there. When we arrived there we were greeted by Antonelli, he and his sister own the hotel and are very friendly. We booked the biggest and most expensive room they had, which while texting with Antonelli before, he said that this room had the best view, and it did. The room had 4 windows and all of them had a very beautiful view. You can see the Castle, a part of the old town of Berat, the river and the bridge. The room has a large bed, not that comfy though. We made reservation for dinner, they gave us a very good spot, it had an amazing view of one part of Berat. Dinner was quite delicious and for two people i believe we paid around 35 euros. The only downfall was that there wasn't any dessert... Very close to the bridge - Ura e varur, (around 7 minutes walking), which is the top spot for pictures. Breakfast was included in the price, and they have some delicious traditional Albanian food, so do not skip it. All the staff was very friendly and i am happy to have stayed there. However,

United Arab EmiratesRoom had no view, light reflected on the mirror with the early morning light shining onto our eyes in the bed, no natural light in the bathroom, we stayed awake later so we didn't have to get annoyed by noise level from the restaurant, as our room literally opened into the restaurant area.
Loved the location, staff accomodation and breakfast. The owner was very friendly and approachable.

United KingdomAir conditioning could be better (though we were there in a heatwave). Our room wasn’t the most private, leads directly on to the restaurant where other guests are eating. So you can’t get much air in the room because otherwise you’re a bit exposed. But perfect for a night in Berat!
Beautiful, full of character. Super friendly staff. Beautiful terrace areas with a lovely view and romantic lighting. Great location

United StatesOur room was right near the kitchen, and we could hear talking/moving very clearly through the walls at 7:30am. Breakfast was decent, but we had a swarm of several bees around us and when we asked the service people for some help, they didn't seem to care. We moved the marmalade to a different table which helped.
Room was very clean, bed was comfortable. Surrounding area was extremely quiet at night. Convenient location in Gorica, just a few min walk from the river to see the view of Old Town, and the bridge to go over to Mangalem.

IrelandAs it is located on the side of the valley, it might be tough to navigate if you have mobility issues however, the staff took our bags as soon as they saw us and insisted on dropping everything into our rooms.
Amazing family run property, extremely warm and friendly. When you walk up to the front entrance, you're greeted by a beautiful garden terrace and the owner who let us know it was once the family home for 3 generations. The food was traditional, tasty and the setting is perfect for taking in the sunset. Highly recommend staying here if you are in Berat
