Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

AustraliaThe place was filthy, the roller door did not work, the shower door would not close and leaked, the drier was on when we arrived with towels in it, no plug to wash up with, cutlery was just thrown in a draw, dirty towels in washing machine, stained bedsheets, dooners stained, carpet floors were as stained as my shed floor, dishes still out drying, no council bin to put rubbish in, host was very constant with phone calls and texts to me, our last contact from host was to inform us that we needed to be out by 10am when booking info said 11am.

AustraliaThe kitchen was appallingly dirty with dishwasher full of dirty dishes, fridge had disgusting stains and spillage from something all over the inside of it as well as on the floor. Oven rack was left dirty in the oven. There was no hand towels at all nor any tea towels or any oven mitts to use. The cutlery looked liked it was all just thrown in the top drawer with no tray to keep them in. Felt unsure to use any of the kitchen items as it all felt so grotty so I rewashed everything myself. Not enough simple kitchen items such as a peeler or scissors or a sieve, etc… or even a big bowl to hold food in.
That there was a washing machine and dryer to use. Also a spa bath to enjoy. Also, had Netflix to enjoy a movie and a comfortable big sofa. Parking was right outside the front door which was great when unloading luggage and repacking into car. Also, a bottle of wine at the entry table was a nice touch.

AustraliaOn arrival at the property, It was nothing like the photos in the link !!!There were several garbage bins overflowing with rubbish, rubbish lying around. The pool area was unkept and the pool was not clean and there was equipment lying around. Inside was large, but very basic. The beds were not made properly, ie bottom sheet not large enougn for the size of the mattress, doonas that were too small for the beds. The cold water tap in the bathroom didn't work. There was only 1 Hand towel, 1 Bathmat & 1 Bath towel for 6 people !! Definately not what I call Luxury Accomodation !!! I was woken at 1.27am, by a text message saying that they check out was at 10.00 am. I didn't appreciate being woken at this time
We didnt actually stay at this property as I was contacted the night before our trip by them saying there was an issue with the water. I received a couple of calls & then a text from someone saying it was booking.com, but it was the property itself. I actually called the property contact number, as I was worried it might be a scam !!this was someone different, who said there definately was a problem, but they had another property which was better but 10 mins further away, he said there was no extra charge, as this wasnt my fault, but that I needed to contact the other person & confirm, who then told me that there was an extra charge of $100, which I said the manager had was not applicable, so she agreed, and was to sent the checkin details. By 11.00am the next day I still had no details, so after several calls/texts, I again spoke to the property manager, who then changed his mind & wanted me to pay the extra $100. I refused to pay. Inhad checke the link to the property & it looked pretty good, so I confirmed it
